Great job Utes!! Brian Johnson was superb tonight and the rest of the team followed suit. There is no doubt who is the best quarterback in the MWC. Kruger was the defensive player of the game! Thanks for a great season!!!!!!
Hall is MVP=-for the Utes | 8:15 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Kruger's still open!
More predictions? | 8:15 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
BYU fans, are you really not tired of being wrong? You picked Utah to lose at least 4 different times this year, yet they won. Now you're already picking them to lose in the BCS? I for one welcome your predictions concerning the Utes, they seem to be working out well for us. Keep it coming.

Loser on Line (LOL from 8:07), I think the God issue is way off topic! I am not Mormon and know that some BYU fans have brought too much religious fervor into this rivalry, but if you look around, I think you will find that a lot of the people around you wearing red are good Mormons and you are insulting their God when you insult BYU's God! So drop it!
Both teams stink | 8:16 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
BYU won all their home games

Utah won all their home games

TCU won all their home games

Get the picture?

None of the three beat anyone worth mentioning on the road. BYU lost to Utah and TCU on the road, TCU lost to Utah on the road, and Utah played nobody on the road worth mentioning. Big wins for these schools...Oregon St. Washington, UCLA, Michigan, Weber St. Northern Iowa. Utah, BYU, and TCU all deserve about as much national recognition as undefeated Ball State and Boise State. None have any quality wins.
Here is one Ute fan | 8:16 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
who is dissapointed in how some posters on here are representing us. BYU fans are going to keep thinking we have little brother syndrom if we aren't classy in victory. If we are the "big brother" then winning should be expected and done with class. So to the BYU fans out there from a true fan, good season and you are a good team. I respect your program and know it will be a huge test next year in Provo with a BYU group that will not forget this one.
Utah wins | 8:17 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Even though I would have liked to see BYU win today, Utah won. Questionable calls? Probably both ways but certainly not 24 points worth. Utah was more poised today and wanted it worse. Today they were the better team. Hall had a bad day but so did BYU. Johnson had a good day and so did Utah. Utah won, end of story and congrats to a deserving team. Good luck in the bowl game.
Max Hall MVP 4 Utah | 8:17 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Congrats Max - a dumb penalty and all those interceptions = MVP for Utah. Thanks for the assist!
Costly Game | 8:18 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
The better team won. Now hopefully the injured players on both sides will be healed in time for their bowl games so both teams can do the conference proud!
RE: more predictions | 8:18 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Just like the Ute fans that predicted BYU losing to AF, NM, UNLV, etc... Some BYU and Ute fans are the same. Next year if BYU wins, flip the posters but the message will be the same.
What a bunch of... | 8:18 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
STUPID comments coming from both sides!!
not buying the hype | 8:19 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
"LOL!!! Just curious did you GURANTEE a Y win today as well? Good luck in the Vegas please don't lose to a weak PAC-10."

Sure thing, we will try- but I really hope you dont draw New Mexico in your bowl game, 13-10- wow you really can run with the big boys-YEWTS.
I am in one heck | 8:20 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
of a good mood. Utes Rock.
Re:Re: Humble Pie | 8:21 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Lol typical Cougar fan.. poor loser. Must have been somebody else's fault. God not helping you win or something.

Cougar fans can dish it out but not take it.

I guess we should have pulled our starters out of the game since BYU is a bush league team and I guess it hurt their feelings.

If you don't want the score run up then stop them. Or maybe you should have Collie ask God to stop them, or maybe God wanted Utah to run up the score.
Arizona Cougar | 8:21 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Congratulations Utah. It is hard for me to accept defeat, especially to UofU, but I needed to get on here and say they played a great game. Johnson was what Hall should have been tonight. Also congratulations to KWhit... The Utes play a hard nosed brand of football and always seem to play out of their mind against BYU.

Hope we exact some payback next year in Provo.

Good luck in your BCS game.
Lehi Ute again | 8:21 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
These are my favorite comments that come from both teams.
(This is a BYU example, but both fans do it)

"I want to show class and give congrats to Utah for a solid win. Too bad all of their fans are such classeless degenerates."

Stop labeling "all BYU fans" or "all Utah fans" as being poor sports. Both teams have good quality fans and only a minority exhibit a lack of decorum.
Those kinds of postsare so hypocritical they amuse me.
Get the Haka out of here!!! | 8:22 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Do you wonder if the Utes would have let the Coogie's haka before the game if the "Great Spirits" would have interceded and the Coogie's would have won?

Coog Nation...you guys didn't look so good. Too bad, you are better than you looked today. As for the strange dude that is keeping 1984 alive with the talk of national championships and Heisman Trophy's...go listen to your 8 track of Footloose and watch your VHS of Ghost Busters....then come on into the 2000's....its awesome.

See ya next year in Happy Valley...as for now...we will just walk away smiling...
Thanks! | 8:22 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Thanks "Here is one Ute fan", finally a class act!
point of fact | 8:23 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
For all the war kitten fans saying now the U has won one out of three. Lets go back a little more. The U has won 5 of the last 7 :)
Best Post So Far | 8:23 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Kreuger's still open.

Nice work
RE: Both teams stink | 8:24 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Those are external factors that neither team can control. All you can do is take care of business and win each game (like Utah did) no matter where the game is played.
WAIT A MIN(UTE) | 8:24 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Max Hall is a good QB. He has lead BYU to many victories. I would take Hall any day as my starting QB. (Can you imagine where this season would have gone with Ben Olson as the QB?)

Mendenhall has been a good coach at BYU. He has coached BYU to many victories. I would take him any day as my head coach.

Coach Witt has elevated his team to a position BYU can continue to only dream about. TWO BCS BOWL GAMES.

Spoiled BYU fans should grow up. I am listening to KSL while typing this, to GREG and MARK beg the classy BYU players into whining about "Running-up" the score. Neither Jorgenson or Collie would "bite". Collie is a STUD. GREG and MARK are wimps.

KUDOS to UTAH COACHES AND PLAYERS for an amazing season. When the craziness of this win wears off, prepare to WIN WHATEVER BCS GAME in which you are invited to play.

BYU must win their bowl game to maintain the momentum the conference has generated this season.

Here's to hoping next years game will have the same honors waiting for the winner!

All the good fans are... | 8:25 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
on with their life already. All the bad fans are looking to talk trash on these posts.
What we all knew | 8:26 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
There is only one national powerhouse team in Utah and they won tonight. BYU was extremely overrated and their Quest to be a top 25 team was achieved because we all know there will NEVER be a true Quest for a perfect record, only the Utes can manage that type of pressure. Good luck in your bowl Coogies, you have been exposed again. Decent team, but not great.
Lehi... | 8:26 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
So why pick a BYU example then?
Adam | 8:26 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Hey Cougars!

2 BCS in 4 years > 1 national championship against a crappy team.
BYU fan | 8:26 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
I am a HUGE BYU fan, but I told everyone for the last week that BYU was going to have to play an almost perfect game in order to beat the Utes in SLC. What happened, Max Hall throws several interceptions, gets a couple of personal fouls, and utah runs away with the victory. BYU gave this game to utah.

Congrats to Utah on a great season and win. Good luck in a BCS bowl.
Guess What.... | 8:26 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Harline is no longer open!!!
CO Coug | 8:27 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Congrats Utes on the win, the Cougars just didn't have it tonight. Max Hall did not bring his A game, that was pretty obvious.

Utah deserved to win, 6 turnovers is a death penalty in college football. Without the turnovers it may have been much closer.

Good luck in the bowl game Uties, hopefully the MWC will get some well-deserved respect.

Till next year my crimson friends.

Lookin' forward to basketball season.

Go Cougs!

BYU is still the best University | 8:28 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Win or lose, we still attend the better University, with a higher standard of morals and living.

See you all in Church tomorrow.
UTE in OKC | 8:28 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
@ Hey SoCal Fan

How did the refs give the game to the Utes? I do believe that the refs reviewed practically every big play the utes got. And of course the plays stood as called. BYU was only in it because of some PI calls by those same refs who were "giving the game to the utes". How does that work in your small little mind. It seems to me that they were trying to give it to the Y. Not the the UTES needed any help. They took the game by continually intercepting the ball. It could have been worse for you if they had caught those three other passes. Grow a set and admit that the better team won this game. And thanks to the BYU fans who have been adult enough to admit that the better team won. My hat is off to you. And to those saying Where is your God now. You make me sick. You make good Utah fans look bad. How juvenille.

Congrats go the the Utah players. Good luck in your Bowl game.
You decide | 8:29 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Which would you choose?

A) Winning 2 of the last 3 and a couple of Las Vegas bowls

B) Winning 5 of the last 7 with two trips to the BCS

I guess some cougar fans are pretty happy with choice A
Magna Ute | 8:30 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Thanks for a great season Coach Whit, Brian, Paul, Louie, and the rest of our never-give-up men.

Congratulations to the cougars on a great year as well.

Utah man am I!
stronger schedules | 8:30 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
I think both BYU and Utah have their football programs going in the right direction, and this excites me because it means that we will have games like this one, with quality teams who have great records meeting in November. I only wish that BYU and Utah would schedule tougher teams for their pre-season games. I know that with how the BCS is set up it doesn't make much sense to play teams like USC, FLorida, Texas, or Alabama, but it would be nice to go up against these schools, beat them, and then quiet the national critics.

I heard that Boise State is thinking (or wishing) about coming to the MWC. I think it would help out the conference, because then we would have 4 top 25 teams.
Glad I don't live in Utah! | 8:30 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
And unfortunately if the rest of the nation knew what a bunch of classless fans are cheering in the state of Utah you will be the laughing stock, sorry, but you already are, but as a former resident, I am ashamed.
Where's the guy... | 8:31 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
...who keeps talking about Harline being open and the crying Utes the last two years?? Where is he tonight??

Clearly, Harline was no where to be found and the unstoppable duo - Hall and Collie, were shut down. Maybe we've heard the end of the Harline drivel. For that poster's sake, I would like to list all of the Hall - Utah passes, but I won't. I do not believe that particular Cougar fan is typical of BYU's program.

The BYU fans who have offered their congratulations to Utah on this board are first class.
Better Pack for San Diego | 8:33 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Not much time to frump about, BYU. You must prepare for the Poinsettia Bowl. You do not have as a long to prepare for your game like Utah does for their BCS game. Enjoy your BCS payout courtesy of the U and try not to make the conference look bad by losing to Fresno State.
Breaking News | 8:34 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Max Hall throws another interception
Doug Barber | 8:34 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
48-24? I didn't think spanking was still legal in Utah.
jason | 8:35 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
why is byu still trying to stand their ground in this. they got embarressed.
Xpat Coug | 8:35 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Agree with "UTE in OKC" The game was fair and square, Utah was better this year. Good luck in Phoenix!
And leave God out of this.
Mark in Peoria | 8:35 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Great game for the Utes. I have to admit, despite the early indications the Utes were rollingin this one, when BYU got the ball back trailing just 24-27, I thought "Oh great, here we go again." But the something crazy happened. The poised boys from provo began to sputter. Five turnovers in their last five possessions! That was crazy.

Although the final score did not indicate a close game, having only three points separating the teams going into the 4th quarter is still gut wrenching.

Another great game in the best "unheard" rivalry in college football.

Congrats Utes on a 12-0 season and a trip to the BCS (bring on 'Bama, FSU, or Cincy---Uh, hold back Texas, OU, TTEch an Florida...just sayin'.)

Congrats BYU on another 10 win season. It looks like you'll be possibly headed to the Vegas bowl, possibly against IOregon, Cal or Arizona. Three decent teams.

Good luck to both teams.

Go UTES!!!!
re..both teams stink | 8:37 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
I wouldn't say stink, but mediocre yes. BYU was lucky to be 9-2. The Utes are extremely lucky to be undefeated. Had the Utes played one top 25 team on the road, maybe I'd say they were better than mediocre. At least they will have to play a top 25 team on a neutral field. But the schedule of home games was for sure in their favor.
Player Haters | 8:37 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Funny how many of you are railing on Whittingham. Just remember that he made the right decision to turn down the job in Parvo. I gues had had enough mad dog environment. It looks like Mad Cow has struck Utah valley once again.
attila | 8:39 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
BYU was an embarrassment today. Disgusting game.
Re: Not buying the hype | 8:40 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
You just don't learn, do you. Yes, Utah beat UNM and TCU 13-10 respectively and they just dismantled your Cougars. You would be better off just saying "congratulations Utah" and going to bed. Your argument is that Utah isn't good...what does that say about BYU???
Can't wait.. | 8:40 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
to hear what "magic" comes bumbling out of collies mouth this year. although i am impressed with him on the field
To LOL | 8:40 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
I am as happy about our victory today as anyone else, but that is MY GOD you are making fun of and MY Religion, SO KNOCK IT OFF! We don't need losers like you!
Good game BYU, see you next year down south!

GO UTES, GO MWC!
Hall for Ute MVP | 8:40 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Hats off to the Utes. They caught the ball each time Max Hall threw it right at them. Were it not for Max it could have been another BYU/Utah classic.
Remember what Gordon Monson wrote a few weeks ago... both BYU and Utah are overrated. Good luck to the Utes in a BCS game, but when it comes to the nation's elite I worry the MWC gets blown out in a bowl game.
Wah wah | 8:40 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Running up the score...? Oh, please - if Max Hall hadn't thrown so many interceptions, maybe Utah wouldn't have scored so many touchdowns - its BYU's fault, not Utah's, that the score was so lopsided. Quit your whining BYU fans...
