BYU needs to change its name.
Wimps | 6:14 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
Its pretty obvious that the losing team was going to get roasted. What'd you expect? What's the point of games if there not something to it other than "great game", "see you next year". Jazz vs. Lakers - whats the point if don't have a rivarly - the list goes on and on. Give me a break - don't say something to bash the other school. "Please don't make fun of Hall having 5 INTS it hurts our feelings" My oh my what a pathetic bunch.

I can't believe all these wimps. I'm one Ute fan among 5-6 BYU fans at my work. I give it as well as I receive it. And even being super double teamed does not bug me. And to the respect of the BYU fans at work - they handle the pokes just fine. Alumi from each school work together just fine. What a stale bunch of employees we'd be if there was nothing else in life.

It's Sunday nite and all we can remember is the turnovers, one right after the other, after the other, after the other, after the other.....

ENOUGH already, of the Ute's peanut gallery on here! We don't need you Uteless fans who enjoy creating chaos with the residents of the U of U area. Shame on you nasty boys for showing your TRUE colors. And enough of the finger gestures you display openly to the U of U residents who's parking spaces you fill with your truck heaps. may I ask, WHO en the never mind do you folks think you are anyway?
Thanks Max ... | 6:40 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
We would be remiss if we did not thank BYU QB, Max Hall for being our 13th player yesterday. Danke for your 5 interception passes, your fumble, and your personal foul penalty at the end of the first half. For those of you wondering why Max was the 13th and not the 12th player - well, apparently you have not been to a UTES Football game at Rice-Eccles Stadium - the 12th player is always there -- those UTE FANS! How about Utah UTES v Florida GATORS in the Sugar Bowl...

RE: The nerve of some | 7:07 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
Who do we think we are? who does Byu think they are, doing the Haka on somebody elses field distracting from the seniors being honored is the most disrespectful thing ive ever seen. BUT THATS JUST BYU FOR YA!

As a Utah fan, I was embarrassed at the lack of manners from many of the Utah fans around me. One Ute fan even had to be escorted out due to crude vulgarity toward the BYU fans as they left the stadium. If I were a BYU fan, I would never bring my children to a U vs Y game at Rice-Eccles. I love Ute football, but the behavior of some of my co-fans tainted what should have been a sweet victory.
GO UTES! | 7:27 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
How can the BYU fans say Whit is classless? it was BYU who interrupted Utah's senior farewells with their Haka dance
Jennifer | 7:45 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
I'm also a University of Utah graduate, and a BIG fan of the Utah Utes. I was quite appalled listening to some of the "Utah fans" shout slanderous gutter language towards some of the neighborhood residents of the University of Utah, when asked not to park in certain areas of the nearby neighborhood. It's very sad to see such great hate and awful attitudes among Utah fans.

Congratulations to the U of U on a well played game. I wish them the best in their climb up the BCS ladder. This just wasn't BYU's day to play football. Though a great inter-state rivalry, it is shame that this has turned into a "hate" game towards a christian university. I agree with Suz @ 7:25 PM and Jennifer @ 7:45 PM both 11-23-08. The irony is there are alot of LDS players on the Utes' football team. Respect show have been evident on both sidelines. Apparently one team forgot about sportmanship on and off the field.

Both teams should be proud of their seasons. For those BYU fans that think Utah is going to be pounded in a BCS game, think again. Utah will represent themselves and the MWC well. Is Utah better than Florida, Texas, or Oklahoma, no. But this team has guts and a streak of mean, and by the way a pretty good offense when it is clicking. As for running up the score, no way. A three touchdown lead is in the comfort zone. You Zoobies just need something to complain about. As for the interceptions, Utah was rushing only 3 or 4 and dropping every one else in to coverage, Max had no one to pass to that wasn't covered. Even with the minimal rush Hall was pressured for much of the night and the Ute D-line did a great job of knocking down passes. The rush game for BYU was good, but Utah was playing the pass because Utah knew what BYU's plan was going to be. Utah would rather give up 200 yards running that 450 passing. Nice strategy Utah and great game, I will be to the BSC game with my family.

The Utah fans around us last night were classy, and dnjoying the game. It was all good fun, and so my team didn't win, theres always next year.

Props to the Utah football team, and their fanbase. They were just a tad stupid for running on the field before the game was over, but for the most part, I was impressed with their behavior.

Good luck at the BCS game.

And to my friend Doug, where ever you are, I owe you lunch.

Love ya man.

Flames6 i was in the north west corner of the stadium...lots of classless utah fans all around...i mean really classless"

I just posted but feel the need to respond.

I too, was on the North West corner of the stadium, and except for the one blonde Ute female trying to pick a fight with a BYU fan on the stairs, there were no problems. We are BYU fans, all the Ute fans around us joked about the game, cheered for Utah on the big plays, we cheered for BYU, everyone (except for the blonde chick) was totally respectful and classy. A little good natured ribbing, followed by "just joking, BYU has a good team this year, good luck" and that was it.

I felt very welcome, and safe, no one was plastered, and it was a good experience.

Congrats again to the Utes, and you deserved last night. Next year, at LES, we may need to beat you.

:-)
UTES! | 9:39 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
Great season, Utah! And BYU has nothing to hang its head about - you guys had some great wins this year as well.

To me, the BCS is a joke. For the Utes to have to run the table to make a decent bowl while the very mediocre Oregon State backs into the Rose Bowl is a sham. It's a system that must be fixed. No, replaced.

Utes, Cougs and TCU proved the MWC is the real deal. Much better than the PAC-10 or ACC.

All you BYU fans are hoping | 9:45 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
That a Ute loss in a BCS Bowl will somehow make them feel better, and somehow take away the Utes' glory.
But the reality is, a loss in the Sugar (or other) Bowl cannot take the sweetness and euphoria out of last night's win over the Cougars. In fact, the win over the Cougars is more important to me, as a lifelong loyal Ute fan, than any BCS Bowl win could EVER be. A BCS win would just be the cherry on top. If it doesn't happen, we've still got the cake, and the cougars are sadly licking up the crumbs.
We've had the win that matters. Nothing, not even an embarrassing loss (like 24-48) in a Bowl game can take that away from us.
So chew on that, you sad Cougar fans.

Maybe the broncos weren't smurf enough to play the Utes this year cause they thought they might actually play a GOOD team. The team that lost to the broncos whenever was horrible, I'll gladly admit that. Boise would not roll over the Utes this year, trust me. Another fat is that scheduling doesn't happen during the season. Once you smurfs can get hat in your head you'll understand. bsu wouldnt dominate the mwc, they'd play three tough conference games every year, which is three more than they play now. Good luck with fresno. Make sure you go undefeated before you argue about getting shafted by the bcs. Go UTES! (That's for the idiot post earlier) Oh, go Utes!
Timothy | 9:55 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
My opinion--- A game is just a game, and it should not be dictating anyones life, and if it is dictating who you are and how you treat others, then you had better be taking hold of yourselves, and your emotions, and get a life. Otherwise, you will probably no doubt eventually end up in some kind of mental institution swinging from a light fixture screaming GO UTES!!! Judging by all the hate posted on here I would say, that this is exactly where some of you are headed in the worst way. Have a nice night if you know how.

As an LDS Marine, I take offense at Chumps? 5:11pm Nov 23rd comment, "ever wonder why LDS kids seldom serve their country?." Say what you want about football and enjoy your bragging rights, but don't demean the service of so many thousands of LDS military servicemen, who may or may not have served missions for their church, but have honorably served and even given their lives in the service of their country. Do not embarrass the Marine Corps with your disrespectful comments. Keep the honorable military service of LDS military members out of this. They deserve that respect. Semper fi

Someone up a video of sesame street's count, counting Hall's interceptions - looked like BYU fans - or Ute fans dressed in BYU clothing.

Hard to say which group is knocking him, could be either.

Since your still living in 1984, shall we go back to the 70s and early buddy???

You need to have BYU-TV stop showing those games from 1984 - it shows just how bad they were.

Put the Blame where it belongs | 1:22 a.m. Nov. 24, 2008
Its time to put the blame for BYU's loss squarely where it belongs. With Brian Johnson, Paul Kreuger, Coach Whit and the men in crimson.
the cougars just got beaten badly and it wasn't just the to's, that just made the spread bigger than it would have been otherwise.
The U offense drove at will, and scored virtually every drive. the only reason Johnson had JUST 300 yards passing was because they had a short field so often. It could easily have been 500 yards. Does that make everyone feel better?
No mistake, the Y has formidable offensive talent, but the U defense was up to the task, and did what was needed.
Stop picking on the Y OC and Bronco, its the defensive coordinator who needs an upgrade.

You forgot the asterisk.

When Utah playes a stronger Pitt team 8-3 then the Y did 6-5 Michigan in their title game then its not really a title.

How much does it cost to buy a new goal post?

I don't know if tearing down your goalpost is better or the fact of mistaken identity of the sugar bowl rep that was wearing his "blue sugar bowl jacket" and treated like a cougar fan.

1/4 Utah fans = Class act
3/4 Utah fans = Mormon haters (couldn't name 3 players on Utah's team)

To Jennifer and Suz, if you are going to root for Utah, then you better get used to the classless fans as they seem to have a corner on the market. BCS games are great, but Fiesta Bowl Champions will never sound as good as National Champions no matter how many excuses you come up with, and you can go back to 1922, but I still don't see National Championship anywhere on your resume.
RE:All you BYU fans ... | 9:00 a.m. Nov. 24, 2008
You just proved what I have been saying all along, this was your real bowl game and it shows how important this rivalry is for U fans, Good luck in the BCS, don't embarrass the MWC. I am guessing you will get some low-ranking conference champ, like Pitt in 2004 and then you might win. But if you meet a real team like Alabama, it will be the Crimson Tide rolling over the crimson nobodies. If BYU is overrated, why are U fans saying you beat 3 ranked teams? One of those was BYU and why was it tight (3 points) until the 4th quarter. It wasn't nearly the blowout the score makes it look like. Why else is BYU still in the top 20?
Go independent BYU! | 9:13 a.m. Nov. 24, 2008
I think it is time that USU moves up to join UU in the MWC to represent the state of Utah in football and other sports. The MWC is more of a state college league for local teams in the mountain west.

BYU should pull out of the MWC and join Notre Dame, Army, and Navy as major independents. Or perhaps they should bring AFA, TCU, and SMU along and form a specialty conference with religious and military academies, the "Soldiers and Saints" conference.

>>It has been fun reading many of these posts. I find it funny the way BYU fans try to cling on to a 1984 win over a 6 and 5 Michigan team to claim that they are in some way still better than Utah.<<

The Pitt team that the Utes played the 1st time they busted the BCS was better than the Michigan team the Y played in 84.

I'd bet this years Wolverine squad would annihilate the 84 Wolverines.

comparison, your comments are correct. Two points.

1. A National Championship is a National Championship
2. It must be legitimate enough to bother Utah fans since they are always trying to discount it in some way.

Sorry Utah fans, no matter how long ago it happened, it still happened; and no matter who BYU played they still beat them. I give Utah the respect they deserve for two BCS games, just wondering why Utah fans don't have enough class to respect BYU for their accomplishments.
Mr. BYU | 10:22 a.m. Nov. 24, 2008
Merry Christmas early Utah! BYU GAVE the game to you...fortunately for Utah, the defense was awake enough to intercept 5 times. BYU was moving the ball pretty easily on your defense and would've made it VERY interesting if Hall wouldn't have had his worst game of his career!

See ya next year without some of your key players and down in Cougar Town!!
Anonymous | 10:25 a.m. Nov. 24, 2008
"BYU didn't do the Haka, they just needed to be on the field for the kickoff." yeah they didn't do the haka cause utah made sure that garbage didn't happen in our house haha did you even see that part they were getting ready to do it and the whole team came over and cut that off before it started. gotta love cougar fans talking about things they have no idea about.
Fully Invested | 10:31 a.m. Nov. 24, 2008
Hey Anonymous, you don't know what you are talking about. I was at the game and the reason BYU didn't do the haka is because Robert Anae put a stop to it. He was stopping them long before the Ute players tried to turn it into a WWF match. If you were'nt so drunk you would have noticed that.
