4A high school football championship: Timpview holds off Cottonwood for three-peat

After 36 straight wins and three state championships in a row, don't you
think it might be time to move up a class? Cottonwood is moving up to 5A next
year and so should Timpview. I realize Timpview has 4A numbers, but
realistically with so many out of boundary players they should be looked at as a
5A school. I think they would do great in 5A and maybe there they would be
challenged.

i would say in terms of talent, size, ect, Cottonwood has the edge. Isi Sofele
is the best HS running back i have seen.
In terms of the QB and coaching MC has the edge. They had a great scheme that kind of sucker punched the TV coaches. THat was the first time in the last 3 years that I could say the TV coaches got outcoached.

TV has been 4a for a while but they barely just have enough kids to be 4a. Being
4a depends on how many kids you have at your school. Not how good your football
team is.

TV's #60 is the most dominating lineman I've seen in years. He has
size, speed and agressiveness. The vaunted Cwood linemen looked liked little
leaguers playing against a college guy. He and #3 for Cwood are the two best
players in the state.

you don't go to 5A for how good your team is its from the enrollment
population at school.. cwood just took in granites old kids so their population
boosted, nevertheless there wasn't much talent in the area they took in
lol.. by the way whittingham wasn't anything special. x suafilo kept them
in the game.. I also loved watching jon martinez decleat the snot out of craig
bills on the first touchdown.

The whittingham's will stay in Utah County and Play for the Y where they
should. They will want to be on a winning Team and Program year in and Year out,
so they will go to BYU. I think Timpview or Cottonwood could give the Utes all
they wanted, because the Utes can't defend the Pass. I am a BYU Fan that
kind of want to see the Utes Win today to get a Team from the MWC in a BCS Bowl.
I am just afraid that the Y will take it too the Utes, because the DB'S
struggle against the Pass as I stated earlier.

Both teams played exceptional and gave it their all, but timpview was the better
team and deserved to win hands down. No questions about it

Cottonwood had the ball and was driving with just 2 minutes left for the
Touchdown and possible extra point to win it all.
GREAT game, 2 really good teams with lots of studs on both sides. I'd love to see them play again I bet it would be the same kind of back and forth game.

Timpview doesn't have enough students to be 5a being 5a does not depend on
your football team. They barely have enough students to be 4a. Football
isn't everything

TV dominated CW most of the game. TV had so many more chances to score. And
calling back craigs INT TD was rediculous. You were lucky to have a game that
close. But great year by CW. They were a great team and they didnt quit.

Timpview has 3A numbers and had to beg to get into 4A for sports. But i do think
they would dominate any 5A team. And CW would dominate any 5A team as well. 4A
was clearly more superior. Levi T'eo is the man. I dont know why the heck
people arent mentioning his name on this. He got into the endzone 4 TIMES!!! So
dont tell me we dont have good running backs. Bryson is only a sophmore and he
tore everyone up as well. TV was just all out better than any team in the state
including 1A,2A,3A,4A, and 5A!!! Congrats on the 3-Peat TV

This is just one thing I think would help out Utah Sports. If you have open
enrollment, thats fine. but if you draw players that live in the boundries of 5A
schools, then your team should have to compete in 5A.

Hey TV fans. I played JUCO Basketball and it was exciting. Most people would
argue that it is more exciting than watching D1 basketball. We ran the floor and
pushed every break. Could we have beaten BYU or Utah?....not a chance. But to
the average fan, watching both teams play, they might think that.....if they
didn't know any better. Look at Hawaii last year. They 'looked'
unstoppable until they ran into a 'real' team in Georgia.
I watched the CW v TV game. Exciting game..I admit. The QBs had all day...would not happen v.Alta of Bingham. Not a chance. They would be on their back. They play at a different level.
By the way....watching those safeties for TV, they will fit in real nice for BYU. Hope to see them both out there in the years to come chasing down Ute receivers.

The comparison of JUCO basketball to D1 basketball is COMPLETELY different the
5A and 4A high school football.

I agree with tv vs alta or bingham. that is a good comparison. i'm from
3a and it is the same story. we have very good teams but couldn't compete
consistently with some of the 4a teams. i'm tired of hearing tv this cwood
that. they are more than welcome to play alta or bingham in preseason if they
werent worried about streaks and stuff like that. i would go to any 4a/5a
powerhouse matchup.

Good job tbirds? anyone can win when they recruit players. wonder who you get
next year? how about you play like the rest of the regions and play with people
in your zones just like everyone else. then well see what your records are. if
it feels good to pat your self on the backs that thats cool.
