TIMPVIEW FANS, lets show everyone that you can be HUMBLE WINNERS without being ERROGANT. Nice pub for Utah County and for not letting the SLC teams sweep the Titles!!!
Great 4A Final | 6:25 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
Wow, what a great football game. As a football fan, you could not have asked for a better 4A final game. There has been so much conversation, as there is every year, about how 3A would match up with 4A and how 4A would match up with 5A. I can assure you that there is not a team in 5A that would want any part of Timpview or Cottonwood. I have no doubt that either team could beat the likes of Alta and Bingham. These two football teams would compare in size, strength and quickness with those 5A big boys and the skill players are every bit as talented.
HS Football fan | 6:28 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
Wow...great high school football! Utah should be proud. More and more Utah high school players are getting national attention, and this game showed why. Congratulations to both teams. In the end, I'd say the TV coaching staff made the 2nd half adjustments that were needed. Cottonwood went in to the locker room at half time with so much momentum, maybe the coaches didn't think adjustments were needed. Great game!

Good job today Cottonwood! You played hard and you played with lots of class. You boys should be proud of yourselves for a great season! Congratulations to Timpview for the win, you guys fought hard and in the end we just couldn't pull off the win. thanks to both teams for a great football game.
Re Untill | 7:07 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
I completely agree. The only people who will recognize this win as something special is the Timpview players and fans.
Cottonwood Fan | 7:26 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
Great win TV, you guys earned the win toady and I personally think TV and CW could beat the 2 5A Finalist also. What a Great game these boys gave us today. At least it wasn't boring and was not decided until the final minutes. I am proud of our whole team for getting to the finals this year and challenging the best team in the state until the final Minutes. I am very pleased with the way My son #4 on CW played today. Great Catches on those Great Safties that TV has. Great Games and good Luck TV winning next year as CW moves to 5A.

what advantage did Timpview have over Cottonwood???

why does it not mean anything - confused. they all play under the same rules.

By the way: congrats to all CW players. you guys are a talented and classy team. best of luck to all of you in the future and good luck next year!

To Timpview | 8:00 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
Both Teams played some awesome Football today, the only thing that I did not like is how Timpview continues to Play after the Whistle and should have been Penalized a few times when they just were talked to by the Head Official that should have thrown the Flag. It did not happen every play, but it happened enough the Officials should have thrown some Flags. Does the out come of the Game change? Who knows, but the Players doing it and the White Hat Official have to live with that forever on their minds. My Hat is off to Cottonwood for a Great show for just a Football Fan of all High School Football. That was probably the best High School Football Game I have ever seen or been too and I don't miss many when the Teams hit Rice Stadium. Congrads to Both Teams and their Programs.
Great Game | 8:03 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
That was a great game today and was a nail biter to the end, just like it was for Timpview last week against Mt. Crest. I think Cottonwood just doesn't have as many weapons on offense and keep their options limited, because they are a good team, just too one-dimensional. I think the better team won, even though Timpview was missing some key players to injuries. Xavier really stepped it up today. He deserves every bit of recognition he gets, and has a great future ahead of him. I wish Cottonwood didn't have to move up to 5A next year because they will be a force to be reckoned with!
Hurricane | 8:08 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
With the exception of Hurricane, every team in the finals was basically an all-star team. It's sad that the good old days of cities playing cities and neighborhoods playing neighborhoods are gone.
Anonymous | 8:12 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
and that's why hurricane lost, huh..

not giving up a SCREEN pass with 35 sec left to the 3.
No.... | 8:16 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
All the All Star teams have a clear advantage. Its abvious.

State Champions:

1986, 1991, 1997, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008...

Should be more - a lot of great teams between 1998-2003 (especially in 2002) but I'll take it.

Thank you 1) Coach Van Orden 2) Louis Wong !!!

Pretty impressive that Coach V has 6 state championships (and 3 were before open enrollment so don't you that to denigrate this excellent coach)
All Time Best Coaches | 8:23 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
In my opinion the BEST UTAH HIGH SCHOOL coaches in state history:

1) Dupaix

2) Van Orden

my opinion | 8:25 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
I think that in non-region Timpview should schedule games with 5A schools like Alta and Bingham. I would like to see how they would do. Lone Peak was dominant against most 4A schools, so they went to a stronger schedule with 5A schools and got demolished. I think it would be a good test for Timpview to play more 5A schools. What do you guys think?

Watching the Alta/Bingham game | 8:32 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
I swear It looks like a 3A game. Punting game and play calling looks like Sanpete County to me.

Also, what a bunch of stiff one dimensional play calls.

4A teams were much better this year.

Good job 4A teams
yeah | 8:41 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
Timpview could NEVER hang w/ ALTA!!! YEah Right!!!

Those guys looks small and their O is weak. Like the Dnews blogger said, maybe its due to Bingham's D, but I'm thinking that it's just because Alta is weak.

Binghams soph RB is a STUD but these teams can't pass like TV or CW.

By the way, Isi Sofele is the best RB i have ever seen in HS.
Anonymous | 8:43 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
BORING. watching the 5a game. Offenses are HORRIBLE.

this is Harvey Langi vs. Alta and the soph is winning
Cottonwood & Timpview | 8:55 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
Cottonwood, You guys are some studs! Great game, you guys left it all out on the field! #3, you are a special player. I enjoyed watching you play today. Good luck in the future.

Timp, You guys are a great team and congrats on your championship. Todays game was probably the best, most exciting, highschool football game I have ever watched. That is a tribute to the quality of football you both played today. Both teams should be very proud.
Botton Line | 9:06 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
The bottom line is that anytime there is a program that wins multiple championships, there are going to be haters coming out of the woodwork making all kinds of lame accusations. Notice how no one is complaining about Skyline anymore because they aren't winning championships. The focus will always be on a winning program. Good players are drawn to good programs, and there is nothing illegal about that according to the present rules of the UHSAA. If you took a poll of the teams who make it to the playoffs consistantly, you will find players that should have gone to another school on every single team, I don't care what classification you are talking about, so don't be hypocrites! It is so unattractive.
X man | 9:45 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
the dominant player on the field, what a game
T-bird Alum | 9:50 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
Congratulations Cottonwood on a great season and a great game today. You guys played your hearts out. Sofele, you are a special player. 88 you had a heckuva game too.

Timp - way to make adjustments in the second half. Those key stops won the game. Way to keep the tradition alive.

MC fan | 11:00 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
This is a question to TV fans and players. I wanted to know how MC is compared to Cottonwood. After playing both of us, what is your thought on which is the better team. I know Cottonwood is bigger but I think MC has got one of the best QB's. So what do you guys think? Congrats on three in a row, I hope we get another shot at ya next year, maybe one of these years we will get ya. How long is big #90 out for? Is his knee totally messed up?
Whittingham Twins | 11:09 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
Thanks for putting on a show for the "cuzzins"! Go Utes!
re: MC fan | 11:16 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
big #90 is out for another 4 to 5 weeks. Sadly, so is our basketball team until he gets healthy again.

As a timp fan, I can say that cottonwood has a slight advantage on # of athletes in terms of size and speed.

However that doesnt matter as much at this level. On any given day one team can beat another.

I think Coach wooten and Co. was far more superior in prepping their team, and thats not taking anything away from Cottonwood coaches either. I was just amazed at the schemes MC used and the adjustments made following every offensive series.

All in all, 4A showed very well during the play offs. Timpview will definitely come back to earth next year when they lose many key players.
to MC From TV | 11:30 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
i know first hand about you guys and i dont want to disappoint you, your a very good team and definantly #3 in 4a but i just think Cottonwood was alot more physical team... you had us on the ropes but i think we always knew that this week was gonna be a battle. i mean we just approached the game differently against the stangs then colts we had a great week of practice and maybe you woke us up some or maybe we just knew that this was the best team we faced this year. But the jr. and soph. will need to be ready to go against yall next year.
cwood alumn | 11:42 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
how about Teo he had a good game too
Timpview student | 11:49 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
X good job! Hooray for Timpview, this is the third time we've taken state! i have to admit that it gets very entertaining when the other team has a chance to score. :) And good job colts you did your best! ( it just wasn't enough to stop the THUNDERBIRDS!!!!
5A??? | 12:10 a.m. Nov. 22, 2008
I watched the Alta and Bingham throughout the season and I think that they are better teams than what was showed on the field tonight. Having said that, what a joke! TV would eat their lunch! Poor play from both quarterbacks. Recievers dropping tons of balls. And the play calling makes andy ludwick look like Belicheck. I'm sorry 5A fans, you are completely in denile if you think you could come close to beating Timpview.....wake up!
UTE FAN | 12:14 a.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Great Job Timpview you just can't keep those Whittinghams down. Hope to see you boys play for uncle Kyle. Go Utes
