To the 3:28 commentator,
First off, I never have spoken of "same-sex couples". Since rights are granted to individuals to enter into marriage, that is the issue we talk about.
Secondly, just because Jerry Brown says it does not make it so. The "Official Description" was one of the low handed tactics used by the anti-8 people to try and ensure its defeat, but like all their other dirty tricks, it failed.

Can we stop with the Amateur Editor Hour comments before we all end up looking like idiots? Offer corrections if you like, but BE correct at the same time.

To your comment about the church being weak - I think this is a really stupid comment sence it is the church that is getting blamed for getting 8 passed! You can't have it both ways!

Oh - in case you haven't been able to figure it out yet - we don't hate you - we just don't agree with you ! That in case you can't figure it out - is different then hate!

I am so sorry in every body supposing they know how I feel when you do not even know me.! I am active LDS and I do not hate gays - I just don't happen to agree with you. To me there is a difference.

OH.... And in case you didn't realize - it is not the LDS out there with the signs and the hate speech and screaming at people and threatning them and writting things on buildings- are you trying to tell me that these are signs of love?

to MY TAKE: From the depths of my heart, I thank you. I not only thank you for the poignant things you said, but that you had the courage and the humility to say them...

You are definitely in my prayers....

The LDS church is getting what it deserves.

I make comments on these stories hoping to stir someone into an intelligent response. So far, no good. Why all the bickering? Do the people responding to stories on this format actually read the news story; do their own research to find out as much of the truth as possible; and then make intelligent comments? I think not. Emotional temper tantrums seem to be the common link between those pro-8 and those against proposition 8. It really does not seem that it would be beyond the participants to be informed and thoughtful. I guess that is asking too much.

The word 'gay' used to mean happily excited: Merry. Now it describes a form of sexual preference. What a sad change to a fun word.

The irony here is that the Mormon Church now "owns"the issue of gay marriage. Who woulda thunk it? Even more ironic, the gays finally have an antagonist who is even more despised than they are! Perhaps Thomas Monson should have heeded Hinckley's warning not to let the Mormon H8 get too far out in front of this issue.

this is america -- gay people should have the right to lose half their stuff just like the rest of the population!

to Newsflash: Where did you ever get the idea that gay people want to be married in the temple? That is the strangest idea I have heard yet. And you also stated that the Church no longer practices polygamy. Technically that is not true. Mormons are still allowed more than one wife. If a man's first wife dies, he can marry a second wife in the temple and he will be married to both of them throughout eternity. So polygamy is still practiced. You just have to die before you get multiple wives. I guess it is a good thing that Prop 8 is for this life only, otherwise Mormons would be on the other side of the campaign. Kind of ironic don't you think?
RE: Lambert | 4:56 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
"Proposition 8 did not ban same-sex marriage, it defined marriage as the union of a man and a woman. This is a very important distinction."

Not much of a distinction to those who could get married BEFORE prop 8 and can't AFTER prop 8.

People under 30 think they know everything. The older they get, the more complicated life becomes.

What else should we blame the LDS church for:

???
Grow up vandals.

To the poster (RE: Lambert) at 4:56 p.m.

Do we have to go over this AGAIN? The California Supreme Court fabricated a right to gay marriage 6 months before the election and then refused to stay the order until after the election--an obvious attempt to INFLUENCE the election by allowing gays to get married BEFORE the election. Then our illustrious unbiased and completely fair attorney general, Jerry Brown, in his own attempt to influence the election, chose inflammatory wording for the proposition. Again, neither tactic worked although together they probably caused a much closer result than would have occurred otherwise. Now, fair, impartial and unbiased Jerry Brown promises to represent the citizens of California in defending the legality of Prop 8. Yeah, right.
What's to gain... | 11:18 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
... by these senseless acts? What do the GLBT protesters hope to accomplish by this? Seriously.

I realize these people don't represent the GLBT population as a whole--which should speak out quite vocally against them if they're serious. I've got a PR background, and I'm shaking my head over this whole thing--because if the protesters ever wanted to demonstrate they deserve the right to marry and raise children, they've only succeeded in shooting themselves and their cause in the foot.

So--to show that you deserve the right to enter into a harmonious life-long union, teach and raise children in a civilized society, be valued as equal contributors AND be left alone by those who harass you, you do this: Shout, curse at, harass, intimidate, show prejudice, paint "fighting words" on signs, vandalize, forcibly restrain opponents, attempt to run over your opponents' children, commit several of the very hate crimes you have tried to have banned, and overall plunge straight into anarchy?

How on earth is THAT supposed to convince ANYONE to rally to your cause?

The cold, hard truth: These protesters are actually doing a pretty good job of showing they deserve anything BUT marriage and children.
End it now..... | 1:32 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Please people, can't we all just get along? Stop with the graffiti and hating on Christians and others who voted for prop 8. It's over, it's a done deal...now live with it.

Accept the fact that most people in this country believe that marriage has always been between a man and a woman and want to keep it that way. Gays already have every other right. We just don't want to change the definition of marriage. Why can't you just understand that? Leave us alone.
Re: End it now...... | 12:16 a.m. Nov. 24, 2008
I find it ironic that you say, "can't we all just get along?" and then write things like "now live with it" and "leave us alone." The don't really sound like the kinds of words people use when the are trying to get along.
To the real bigots | 1:44 p.m. Nov. 24, 2008
Bigotry is not believing that homosexuality is a learned an immoral behavior. That is an opinion. Bigotry would be in mistreating others because of that behavior. Bigotry is vandalizing LDS property because of their viewpoint. That is true bigotry. I have homosexual friends and they know my beliefs. I disagree with their lifestyles as they disagree with my faith, but I care for them as people and I don't mistreat them. But I don't have to vote they way they prefer and that doesn't make me a bigot. I don't vandalize their buildings or call them names. I treat them with respect. I ask the same from you.
Identity | 1:46 p.m. Nov. 24, 2008
To all those who define who they are by the way they seek sexual gratification, you would think that life important that tying your entire identity to the way you prefer to gratify yourself. And to claim you are a special group of people because of a perverted way of life, you are simply wrong. Why can't we stop labeling ourselves as blacks, whites, gay, conservative, liberal, or whatever? The labels themselves are divisive and destroy societal unity.
