cute with their little one-sided rivalry. Interview any student at BYU and they'll tell you USU is as big of a rival as SUU. No one cares about USU there, so why does USU care about BYU? Have to be filled with hate I suppose...

To those who think that BYU fans have the "holier than thou attitude". Don't you think you are judging the masses by the few you have dealt with?

I am a BYU grad, active LDS 50+ yr old, living in Utah County and have a VERY hard time believing that even 50% of BYU students, graduates have that type of attitude!

I certainly don't think I am holier than the rest of you...to the contrary I have my struggles like the next guy.

Do you think that you could possibly have a misperception that people who are happy, confident and proud that they are from or represent BYU have that bad attitude? I think for the most part that is true. I won't believe that you can use a braod brush approach and call all or even most people that way.

For the most part, I am in the same camp as "Cats". You people need to come and live among the people in Utah County before you have any idea of what you are talking about!

You said at the BYU/USU game in 02 where BYU pulled out a narrow victory some BYU fans said to you, "good thing we paid our tithing this week".

WHERE IS YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR???? LIGHTEN UP!!!!

That was meant to be funny...there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with that!

HYE I'M NEW TO THIS | 4:59 p.m. Nov. 20, 2008
BUT IT LOOKS LIKE EVERYBODY HATES ANYTHING RELATED TO THE LDS CHURCH, WHY?
re: sheesh 11:35am | 5:02 p.m. Nov. 20, 2008
"Maybe if you and your fellow Benedict Arnold's Kelly Poppinga, Drew Tate, Riley Nelson, and others would HONOR their commitments, Aggie football wouldn't be having as many issues right now. Isn't HONOR one of the buzzwords Captain Mendenhall is throwing around the program nowadays?"

Wow, don't you just love it when a poster like sheesh demands that other people be perfect? Not only that but sheesh threw some players under the bus with Coach Mendenhall. Oh and sheesh, nice touch calling him "Captain". Shows real maturity on your part.

Gee if every talented player that had committed to BYU had followed through with their committment then we would have had better teams too. Look, sheesh, you need to do some growing up instead of blaming everyone else for USU's lack of football success. Players changing their minds and going to other schools happens to every program every year, so get over it.

The Church should disban BYU athletics and the U of U should drop to Div. II - I hate them both equally.
Cougar Pride | 5:27 p.m. Nov. 20, 2008
Well, as long as everybody is saying it, BYU is better than everybody else in the state. USU football would have a hard time in 1A high school regions. Utah just wants to grow up to be as good as BYU someday.
Holier than though | 5:32 p.m. Nov. 20, 2008
BYU fans, students, professors and athletes who are mormon are no more holier-than-though than the general LDS population. Mormons who scorn and hate BYU for being holier-than-though need to look in the mirror.

If anyone wants to see an example of arrogance and "holier than thou" attitude, see Steve Smith's post @ 7:58 a.m.
Oh that's right | 5:53 p.m. Nov. 20, 2008
"Holier than though [sic]" I completely forgot that all USU students and alums are Mormons. Thanks for pointing that one out. You sure paint with a nice broad brush.
Aggie Alumn, Boise Native | 5:56 p.m. Nov. 20, 2008
There are numerous reason for me to dislike BYU, and I do. Some of these reasons are completely outside the scope of athletics. I wish BSU had a chance to play BYU and the U. Both are very good teams and it would make for better competition for BSU. Plus nothing would bring me more joy than to see BSU beat BYU. My dislike for BYU athletics stems from the BYU basketball team refusing to play any future games in Logan. I don't know if that was something that was permanent but it seems cowardly to let us play in your house but refuse to play in our because the fans are too rowdy. Very weak BYU.
To: Proud Farmer: | 5:56 p.m. Nov. 20, 2008
Sorry, but Steve Smith's comments are NOT a "holier than thou" attitude. That is being rude and mean spirited.

Holier than thou for the majority of you pointing fingers means that you are living your spiritual life so much better than everyone else and you are bragging about it or at least outwardly acting like that.

Those of us at normal BYU fans still pull for USU whenever possible because you still represent our state!
Mr. BYU | 7:04 p.m. Nov. 20, 2008
To Aggie Alum, Boise Native: WAAAAAAAAAAA! Cry me a river!! If Utah State fans hate BYU so much, why fret about not being able to play them in Logan? Sounds like you're contradicting yourself! Go find someone else to play!
Moral Victory | 11:11 p.m. Nov. 20, 2008
There is no moral victory against BYU in basketball. Losing to BYU is embarassing in basketball. It's like losing to UC Irvine or something.

The Aggies used to be my second favorite team, and I would always cheer for the upset (any game they play). I mean USU is a good school, and they let us play them on Friday nights on Conference weekend. Then I moved to Logan, and expereinced all the hate towards BYU. It makes it really hard for me to cheer for the Aggies anymore. Now I almost glory in their pathetic program and continually hope they can consistintely stay in ESPNs bottom 10.

Im sick of everybody saying we need to be kicked out of the WAC. we are in a slump and still beat Hawaii, and smashed Idaho and came very close to beating Fresno. should they be kicked out of the WAC as well? and we only lost to BYU by 20 points when they were ranked number 8 in the nation! I have been in both the Utes stadium and the cougars and let me just say the cougars have the worst fans!
CrimsonUte | 10:25 a.m. Nov. 21, 2008
I have always liked Utah State. Your football team has been down for a quite a while but you have a lot of other good things going for you. Utah State has Aggie Ice Cream, gorgeous scenery, an awesome student body, a nice stadium (a little small, but I like it, and a Boise State fan told me he really liked it too), a great basketball team, that "True Aggie" thing...

Honestly, if we could take the conference BCS payout from BYU and give it to you I would be all for it.
Crimson with Embarrassment? | 1:28 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
Yo, Crimson Ute ...

You don't have any BCS money, what are you talking about? Talk about arrogance. Win the game first, then open your pie hole.

Go ahead and share your Poinsettia Bowl payout with Utah State. We don't mind.
Accentuate the Positives | 1:32 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
Wow...look at all the BYU fans returning insult for insult, hate for hate, feeling justified in abandoning their morals in the name of sport. That is more pathetic than my Aggie football team. On the flip side, I really liked what CrimsonUte had to say about Utah State. It reminded me of good things I liked when I went to school there. Too bad that many of the BYU posters on here are too self absorbed to recognize good things outside of Provo. Sorry, nobody has a monopoly on goodness.

To Mr BYU. When a game is supposed to be played at home but then must be resceduled to neutral territory USU loses the revenue from that game. We allow BYU the opp. to make that revenue by playing in thier house. BYU must be pretty scared if they can't hanlde being in the spectrum. Rivalry and competition makes the game more fun to play in and watch. If BYU insists on running away from this then we all lose. I love BSU, and USU, but BYU has proven to have no integrity. I never really cared at all about U of U sports but in this case I'm going to have to say, GO UTES. Even if it does hurt BSU's BCS standings.
Ag-fan | 11:55 p.m. Nov. 21, 2008
Why cave for BCS bucks? Until a real playoff series exists, BCS monopolists protect 6 improperly-pacted conferences, tossing crumbs to one non-BCS college, survivor of football fratricide. A $500k conference slice is merely a year's pay for a head-coach plus two assistants; USU chose to forfeit it recently.

Undermine BCS gluttony by boosting toughest non-BCS schools, able to bury BCS golden-boys. Until proven otherwise, as it did 4 years earlier, it's Utah, not Boise State nor BYU, though either of them might be best next year, etc. We're U. grads whose kids were honors grads from USU, BYU and the U., all on scholarships (academic, plus one in athletics). We cheer for all 3 (Weber too), without badmouthing others, which is immature and counterproductive.

After courses from BYU and USU, to falsely claim that I'd be disloyal to the U. unless I badmouthed
all rivals, shows lack of education and maturity.

USU, BYU and the U. are not at fault, it's the BCS, which took undue advantage of Congress' exemption of the NCAA from anti-trust laws. So boost non-BCS schools able to highlight BCS misdeeds, to instead help force a successive-elimination playoff series to get legitimate national champions.

I hate BYU. I hate Utah even MORE! But if either team is playing anyone else I like to see Utah teams win.
USU Alumni | 8:53 p.m. Nov. 24, 2008
I loved going to school at USU - the best two years of my life. But then did what I promised I'd never do - I married a BYU student and moved to Provo. Guess what! BYU is a different world that cannot be compared to anywhere else. The formality of BYU makes it appear more "holier than thou" than it is. You have to live there to understand it. It has an important place, but it's not for everyone. I am still a loyal aggie.
