As much as people may try to do their best to stop the spread of these mussels they are on an impossible task. Infected lakes, resevoirs, or water holding ponds should be closed to all water craft including use if necessary to rid the water of these mussels. If the waters are not temporary closed it will only be a matter of time before it become a catastraphy and none of them will be useable. Not to mention all the damage they do to the power generating equipment at dams and water treatement plants. The DWR needs to be more dramatic and purposeful in their quest to stop the spread and infestation. At many locations there is not enough facilities to clean boats, trailers, and watercraft sufficiently to do any good. Not to mention the many hours it would take.

If 1000 people are consiencious and follow all these admonitions, and 1 doesn't, these things will still spread.

How many people do you know that break rules of any kind?

This is a losing battle, unless someone like USU can come up with, find, or genetically engineer, some kind of bacteria that will attack these mussles specifically.
