on and read and once again find all you people on here still going at with the
gay boys. Don't worry my friends, the gay boys/girls cannot do the most
admirable, godly and glorious things as the rest of us, and that is too create
and have a posterity of children.

A marriage license is not a religious document...
FACT: In the U.S., a couple's marriage is legal only when notarized by a government entity (aka: your county clerk's office), NOT by your church official.
FACT: If a couple wishes to incorporate religion into their marriage, they have that right... But the religious aspect is not what makes it a legal, binding contract.
FACT: "Traditional" marriage is a fabricated term used to spearhead the anti-homosexual agenda. Had we not seen the error of our ways years ago, we might still define "traditional" marriage as a union between a man and woman of the same race, as it was until the 1960's... Elton John said it best. Marriage is for straight people and Civil Unions are
for the Gay community.
In California we voted to keep marriage traditional and why the church is being targeted is a mystery to me since the church members make up about 3% of the population. Where are the marches on other churches?
I didn't want my grandchildren to be forced to learn about Gay Marriage as part of the school curriculum, or my church being sued because the Bishop refused to officiate at a Gay marriage. That is what would have happened had Prop 8 passed.

Here is the problem. By allowing same sex marriages to occur, we are opening
pandoras box. Soon after that, we will, as a society, start allowing
relationships between adults and young teenagers, and then young children, and
this could even lead to beastiality for those rare but sick individuals. This
will all be presented to us as normal, and ok, and a matter of personal choice.

We continually read the comparisons here between homosexuality and polygamy.
Polygamists are heterosexual. Their choice is to take additional partners, not
take partners of the same gender. Any comparison between the two is flawed
before it gets started. It's like arguing that oranges are people too,
because both are living "creatures". If the GLBT community wants to
maintain that homosexuality is not a choice, then they better give up the
polygamy comparisons, because polygamy is very definately a choice. You
can't argue both sides. Think about it.

A research study of 56 pairs of twins, and of the twins where one was gay both
ended up being gay? Well seeing as how the realistic estimate of homosexuals is
1-3% (don't give me 10, that number's outdated) that suggests that
they found few pairs of twins exhibiting ANY homosexual tendencies. Not great
evidence. Until science can give more than just associations (what is the
physiological mechanism by which same-sex attraction occurs) the born/choice
debate won't end.
I personally think that it's a mix of both. But that still doesn't change the fact that I think that we as cognizate beings have control over our behaviors and that anyone who chooses to not PRACTICE a homosexual lifestyle can do it.
And PS, there is a definite balance in the letter/spirit of the law. The law is there for a reason, we are supposed to practice the law with the RIGHT INTENT. That is the spirit of the law. Practicing the spirit of the law does not mean that we can do whatever the heck we want in the name of "love".

And it's the truth, they truely LOVE all these things with ALL THEIR HEART! I'm not being sarcastic nor joking. Some relish in the chance to take advantage of people, or take drugs, or boink anything that walks by regardless of their wife and kids objections.
We can Love anything we want. But it doesn't make that definition of Love right.
I support rights for my gay/lesbian brothers and sisters. The rights that will give them medical benefits, workers rights, hospital visitation, beneficiary rights etc... I do not support any law that would give them adoption or any right that still distorts the spiritual and/or natural laws of parenting already in place.

It's so sad how little-minded you all are and how hate-filled most people in Utah are regarding others they percieve as a threat. While I am not a homosexual myself, I strive to love others unconditionally - isn't that what we were taught? Oh wait...Mormons are a bit afraid of education that might make them think beyond the Ensign, unconditionally means without conditions.
Didn't we lean in Church that God is the judge and he will decide. Wasn't it Satan who thought he knew best and attempted to restrain the will of God's children so they would only know the right? Sounds like so many of the citizens of good Utah, without thinking, think like Satan.

If one feels a same-sex attraction, one can choose to not give in to it just as
one who has an alcohol attraction can choose not to give in to it.
If gay activists prevail, not only will gay "marriage" be taught in public schools, but also gay sex, in all of its deviations, in sex education classes. That will not only put damaging thoughts into curious adolescent minds, but will also bring much misery to those people who, as a result, become entrapped in gay behavior and the gay lifestyle. There has been a steady progression from the gay movement - from allowing this immorality in the privacy of one's home to showing it on television, in the movies, and on the internet at public libraries to public acceptance through "marriage." Next gay behavior and the gay lifestyle will be taught and promoted in public schools, perhaps even as a preferred or a trendy alternative to the natural family.

I just want to correct two facts discussed above.
It is incorrect to say that over 50% of heterosexual marriages fail. This is an urban myth. The true % is less than that -- more like 40%.
The argument over Choice for Gays has been going on for decades. Almost ever student of the subject agrees that most gays have some biological / environmental reason that led them to their propensity. To label it a Choice is too strong. Some gays have apparently changed their orientation, but those are few.

I know changing desires, tastes, compulsions, and temptations is hard. Twenty years was a long time for you to struggle, unsuccessfully. This is not proof that change is impossible, though. I know of multiple cases where people have been gay and then become straight, some through help of psychiatrists, some not.
Likewise, the opinions of professional organizations are not evidence of universal truth or even "facts", but simply the studied opinion of a committee of members. Not everyone in those organizations believes the organization's position.
Whether some people are born with homosexual tendencies and whether they can all be changed in mortal life is unknown from a scientific viewpoint, and unanswered from an LDS doctrinal viewpoint. It doesn't matter, though. God's commandments apply equally to everyone, no matter what temptations are stronger for them or what their personal tastes are. Yes, this can lead to a life with large areas of unfilfillment, and that's a sad truth. However, ultimate fulfillment is the promise of the NEXT life for those who endure this one well. Be patient and keep God's commandments even when doing so is unfulfilling and God, who created you, will reward your sacrifice.

The California experience showed the danger of passing legislation of the type
that activists want the LDS Church to support. The California Supreme Court
looked at what California had done with civil unions, concluded that they were
basically the same as marriages, and held that it was a violation of equal
protection to deny them that title. In other words, any legislation of this
type makes it more difficult to defend traditional marriage.
Any legitimate interests that same-sex "couples" have can be protected with legal documents that are readily available, such as special and general powers of attorney, wills, and other private documents. Services such as legalzoom.com can assist in preparing these documents at minimal cost. In other words, special legislation is not needed and would be dangerous.
Indeed, one significant problem with civil unions or any type of legislation aimed at mainstreaming same-sex relationships is that activists will use those footholds to demand more "rights" and engage in further litigation to eliminate any distinction between marriages and same-sex relationships. about this, but I cannot stay out of this debate. I do not want my children or
anyone else's children to adopt the gay lifestyle. It is wrong - eternally
and biblically wrong. Anything that promotes or legitimizes homosexuality, I
will oppose. Yes, it is just my conception of morality. But all law is morality
or one sort or another. I have a sister who is gay and of course we do not agree
on this issue. I love my sister and wish her happy. But I know that there is
more at stake here than just her short term temporal comfort. One can call my
position wrong but not inconsistent. There is a God and he has an opinion on
homosexuality. My position is that I intend to agree with him.

Gays do indeed want to convert people. The gay community in Los Angeles believes
this. I know, I was there. Gay men hit on other men all of the time. Most gay
men truly believe that most straight men have some gay inclinations. They label
it being "bi-currious" so that straight men can be more open to trying
it out. They say that there is a gay-straight spectrum and that all men fall
somewhere on it. You start out on the straight end. You are lured into one gay
experience. Then you have another one. And with each additional one you slowly
move toward the gay end. Then you think that you must be born gay. You
can't go back to being straight; no woman would want you now. You now need
to be around gay men and live in a gay world to feel any sense of self worth. If
you only had society's acceptance, then you would feel better and normal.
You must have gay marriage.
That is the big lie. There is no true happiness in this lifestyle. Wickedness never was happiness. You cannot do wrong and feel right. It is impossible!

The DesNews needs to require registration and require posters to identify themselves in some way, or this same kind of troll-heaven garbage will keep happening.

and Gomorrah. Do you remember what Lot did when the townspeople wanted to have
sex with the angels (i presume homosexual sex)? He offered up his virgin

i don't hear Mormons condoning this practice. Yet it's in the bible too in the same story. IF you really believe God is against Homosexuality than you must also agree that offering up your children for sex with strangers is of God too.

You are wrong. I have been approached by homosexuals for sex since I was four
years old and on through junior high and high school. Many were adults. I grew
up in New York City starting in 1941, and the homosexual world is not as pretty

I am 100 % against those who say we need to relax, take a chill pill or "hush up" as it relates to agenda's to re-define marriage.
By relaxing or being passive about this issue we compromise. Those of you who wish to relax, may find some of your rights taken away. I will not relax. Those of us who are for Traditional Marriage need to be as vocal as those who are against Traditional Marriage. Be vocal and stand up.

I think it is very funny that the Gay Rights Activists are calling on the Church
for support when the Church has been attacked, verbally and by protests, by this
same group. I think bringing the Church to the table to discuss this issue is a
good idea but why in the world would the Church do that now in light of the
backlash they have received.
