But USU beat BYU in the 4th Qtr | 12:39 a.m. Nov. 17, 2008
How can they fire the coach when his team beat BYU in the fourth quarter of their game. Get serious. USU is a great team. I bet they could beat Michigan.

The lack of continuity just kills teams like Utah State.

Recommendations:

1. Higher someone with local ties, who wants to live here and who has the ability to recruit locally.

2. Give him 5 years to produce a winner.

3. As the team improves, up his financial incentive to stay with the team. Bonuses for having a winning season, going to a bowl, higher graduation rates, etc.

4. Pay his top assistants well. He can't do the job by himself. If his assistants receive paltry wages. Then you can expect a paltry outcome and you'll never develop a winning team at USU.

5. USU fans, support your team by coming out to the games. Unless the team is playing Utah or BYU the stands have a lot of empty seats.

This comes from a Utah fan of 30 years who wishes Utah State all the best. I want you to become better. It's good for USU and for the UofU.

Good luck to both Guy & USU. Unfortunately to keep coming out, fans need to see Wins and not just slight improvement with loss after loss. When was the last time a coach had that bad of a record, even at USU? A large fan decline forced the Athletic director's hand in a time where they are Required to have 15,000 fans per game to keep their 1-A status. Best of luck to the next coach, they can only go up from here!

I believe both Mick Dennehy and Brent Guy worked their tails off to try to turn the program around. I can't fault their work ethic, but they just couldn't turn the corner. This is going to be a critical hiring for a new football coach if the program is to be resurrected at USU. The combination of more fans, more wins, and better recruits all ties together into the same formula. It won't be easy, but I think the right coach can do it!

congrats to usu on firing another coach right on time every 4 yrs!

quit wasting our time and either drop football or go to FCS.

how many coaches will usu fire?

even john L left usu with a losing record but at least he didnt get the boot.

Brent Guy was a great individual but couldn't recruit! You have to have good sales skills and be a very slick talker. I heard that Canales can really recruit so my vote goes for Chico!
