Having attended BYU, my experience was most BYU students didn't care about the U of U. I hope that this insight doesn't conflict too much with Utes true-believer dogma. Seriously, though, my only concern is why Michigan is doing so poorly this year--almost Apocalyptically--maybe it was because the Utes demoralized them so completely and beat them by 2 points... pretty impressive.
They'll look at the Utah score and beg for something to eat.
The difference between BYU and Utah is nobody outside of the state knows who Utah is. One season of national prominence in this generation is not enough for anybody to know you, let alone to hate you.
Your team is good, and may well thump us. I like our chances and look forward to seeing the game played on the field.
1. Utah 11-0, BYU 10-1
2. Utah 13 TCU 10, TCU 32 BYU 7
3. Game to be played at Rice-Eccles Stadium
4. Both offenses doing well right now: Utah 63 SDSU 14, BYU 38 AFA 24
5. Utah defense ranked in the top 10 in the U.S.,
BYU defense struggling, gave up 35 points to UNLV, 42 points to CSU, 27 points to Washington
Prediction: Utah 31 BYU 14
1) When was the last time BYU had a 11-0 record?
2) When was the last time BYU had a 11-0 record four years after having a 11-0 record?
(hint: the answer starts with letter N)

and utah will bring THEIR A game because THEY ARE ready, will you be THERE ?
As a devout Cougar I still haven't forgiven Todd for the 3 consecutive drives that ended with his lost fumbles inside Frank Kush's Arizona State 5 yard Line. We had that game in the bag and would have sent them to the PAC with a sore butt.
As for The Mountain Broadcasters....Please keep Todd off the Field.
Thanks for the sour memories Todd!!!
I love nothing better than the Ute fan who makes a declarative statement without realizing it only makes him look worse. Please, Ute fans, look beyond your initial statement and study the ramifications before hitting "add your comment."
For example, you belittle Jonny Harline because he doesn't have an "NFL job." Don't you realize that saying that makes your team look even worse? (See, you dropped 9 guys into pass coverage and still couldn't cover someone who couldn't even make it into the NFL. See what I mean? Geez, how open would a guy be who does have NFL talent?)
And for you to say that BYU is dropping from the Poinsettia to the Armed Forces Bowl just shows your ignorance of the bowl system.
Even if BYU loses to Utah -- and I do not foresee that -- they will drop no lower than the Poinsettia. The MWC bowl tie-ins get to pick who they want. Hence, technically, even if Utah wins and TCU takes second, the Vegas Bowl could still opt to take BYU. (TCU fans do not travel well.) No way the Poinsettia passes on the chance to take BYU.
Ute fans don't carry a 365 day a year chip on their shoulder trying to defend and support the "Church" school and what it supposedly stands for.
Utah fans live, and have always lived, week to week.
If the "Y" loses next week, BYU fans will carry the guilt for months.
Utah fans will let it go in about a week.
Most people in the country don't lose near as much sleep and suffer as much anxiety as BYU fans.
Most of you are mentally ill on the subject.
THATS why Ute fans pick on you so. Because you give them such a rise and it's fun.
Utes 35, BYU 11
When was the last time Utah had an 11-1 record?
I foresee the correct answer being Saturday.
When was the last time Utah took an 11-1 record into the Poinsettia Bowl?
(Hint: The answer starts with the letter N.)
Answer to #2: never, OK you win on that point, but consider: BYU also accumulated 11-0 records in 1979 and 1984, so when was the last time Utah had an 11-0 record five years after having an 11-0 record?
Here's hoping for a great game next weekend.
Game Score:
Utah 21-BYU 10
FWIW: I will speculate that the Utah defense will give up 2 or 3 big plays in the game, but will otherwise thoroughly frustrate BYU. I just don't see BYU's defense consistently stopping Utah's spread with the speed they have.
Thus my prediction is:
UTAH 34
BYU 17
It will be nice seeing Utah in the sugar bowl against Alabama, that should be a great game.
BYU however, will get pounded by Boise St in the Poinsettia bowl.
Your question:...when was the last time Utah has a 11-0 record 5 years after a 11-0...
The answer: not yet, but it will be 2009
GO COUGARS!!!!!!!!!
Utah: 41
BYU: 24
With better talent at QB for Air Force, BYU beat an Air Force team more handily than Utah did. Hmmmmm.
Go Cougars!
BYU 28
Utah 24
be ready.
because we are. :)
we have got this cougs.
Pot, meet kettle.
It looks like ESPN must not know the bowl selection process either as one of two writers project your kewgs in the Armed Forces Bowl! Perhaps it's you that is ignorant?
We all saw what the kewgs did against an athletic TCU team.... quick and athletic destroyed big and slow. Guess what? The Utes are quick and athletic! Why don't you jump off the blogs for a few minutes and check out some stats. Here's something for your high intellect (joke) to consider:
Your kewgs allowed 321 yards on 51 carries yesterday at AFA. The Utes allowed 53 yards on 42 carries earlier this year on the same field. Good defense (or as kewg fans spell it: defence) usually beats good offense.
See you in SLC next Saturday! Oh wait, you will be watching it on your little tv with Johnny!
Go Utes!! 2nd BCS bowl game in 4 years!!
P.S. I'm not to fond of some of our "fans" either. We have a lot more of an argument than just "4th and 18" even though that's what a lot of them say. Contrary to widespread belief there are non annoying, intelligent BYU fans who make good points.
You can regurgitate my statements like a trained chimpanzee -- but it obviously doesn't mean you understand them.
Congrats on basing your whole argument on what "one of two writers" from ESPN says. I guess you got me there, ESPN has certainly never been wrong on anything before. ESPN says it, it must be true. At this point, I'm not sure who is more clueless -- you or the ESPN writer (who probably writes 200 posts a day, half of them about teams he understands far less than the locals).
Dude, with one game to go, there is no viable scenario where BYU goes to the Armed Forces Bowl. I don't care what ESPN says.
Thanks for posting the stats from the Air Force game, though, I'm finding a hard time understanding what relevance they have. I notice you failed to post the passing yardage comparison. Why is that? Because Air Force had a huge day passing on the Utes cause they opted to overload the box.
The only relevant stat is scoring differential. Utah by 7, BYU by 14.
Scoreboard -- just like this Saturday.
When that happens, Utes are going to the Poinsettia.
