Go Utes! | 2:19 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
We don't want you to choke against SD like you almost did against TCU. We want the 22nd to be a championship game that counts when you take on the Cougars... may the best team win!

Re: Spoon | 8:24 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
What a petty and pathetic comment to make. Logically a cougar should have Utah wipe the field with SDSU and then hope for a blowout against Utah for an outside chance at the BCS. But we can't ask a Cougar fan to be logical can we. Not even when Utah going to the BCS brings millions of dollars to Provo. I think Utah should be able to pick one school that it doesn't want to share it's BCS money with.
Flintrock | 8:25 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
RE: Spoon and Spork, Personally I hope Utah goes to a hurry up offense more often so they do not put undo work on our defense. Our offense should be way better than it is. Ludwig should be sent to coach a Junior High team with the calls he made last week.
As for wiping up the field.... your BYU defense should go with Ludwig to the same Junior High.

Of course you do, and as a Ute fan, I hope AF and America's team destroy the kitties.

Zachary | 9:21 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
I love the B.Y.U. Fans. They just can not stand the truth that the Utes are a better football program than what their mighty Courgars are. Get over it and relize that the Utes have doen more in the last ten years for the MWC than B.Y.U. has done.
Hey Go Utes | 9:45 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Maybe if byu hadn't actually choked against tcu, byu could have been undefeated too. but, we all know what happended don't we... (by the way, i'm pretty sure byu would take an "almost choke" against tcu any day of the week)

Reading zoob comments all season, all we heard was how utah was not going to hold up their end of the bargin, when it came to having two undefeated teams play on the 22nd.... well so much for that!!!

You're right about one thing... the 22nd will be a championship game for one team, and that team wears red.... so keep hanging on to your hopes for a piece of the championship.... and hey don't choke against AFA, like you almost did to CSU and UNLV... so you can keep those slim hopes alive....

See ya on the 22nd go utes... back on top of the conference were they belong!!!! Oh yea, and back to the bcs for the second time!!! The thoughts of that has to be eating all zoob fans, their little brother going where they want to go... again!!!! (I can't wait for the first 84 nc comment in retaliation... you zoobs are so predictable!!!)
Joe | 10:05 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
To Zachary,

I don't know how they are a better program, have you watched the past 30 years?? Who has produced more winning teams, conference championships, NFL talent and not to mention a National Championship!

Utah will lose to BYU and we will have to wait another 4 - 5 years for Utah to be overrated and competitive and than hear all you fair weather Ute fans come crawling out of no where to talk mindless trash to the better team in Utah.

Go BYU, even on a rebuilding year we will tie for the conference championship and beat OUR RED HEADED LITTLE BROTHER UP NORTH!
Nathaniel | 10:06 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Nice job Gary Andersen. Your defense has three consecutive quarters of shutouts. Lets push it to seven quarters this Saturday!

from crowtonlover

You ignorant fool, zachary was talking about the last 10 years. It's just like the pathetic BYU fans to delve back into the past before all of their current players were even BORN. 1984 was 24 YEARS AGO GET OVER IT!!!! 1984 doesn't change the fact that your team sucks in 2008.

YOU MUST BE OUT OF YOUR MIND TO EVEN SUGGEST THAT UTAH WILL LOSE TO BYU.

BYU will never contribute a thing to the conference like utah has in the past 4 years. BYU will settle for mediocirty. winnin conference championships are worth about as much as a plate of dinner.

Get in line cougs, so you can get your charity donation from UTAH's BCS game. Realistically, I don't understand why we should give youguys a thing.

Re:joe | 10:54 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
just like a kitty fan to base you opinions on a season 24 Years ago. Both teams have had good and bad teams over history and the last 10 years however, it's still Utah that broke the BCS first and has the better team this year. Alot has been said about TCU's missing 2 field goals but, special teams are a part of the game. King Louie lined up for 2 kicks from a farther distance and hit them both. Game over. The Utes find a way to make big plays and win. If you think you had problems with TCU's D, wait for Utah's. They're just as fast and skilled.
ute | 11:02 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
to joe I think Utah has put more players in the nfl in the last ten years than byu and also Utah was the first non bcs school to go to a bcs game dont be upset that your band of brothers quest for perfection is never going to happen!
utah_man18 | 11:05 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Joe, I hardly see how this is a rebuilding year for your cougs. The defense is awful, but do you really expect it to ever be up to the standard the U has? Oh, I can still hear the unwarranted praise the cougar defense received for shutting out Wyoming and UCLA.... Well, that was in provo, so you better bring your "A" game up to the hill, because thus far your road games have been suspect (almost gave Washington their first and only win, and of course the very revealing game in Texas).

As for you, "Spoon and Fork MBJ," personally, I think you should post about what you know--in your case, go find a story about the fast-food industry. Don't let the Utes' demolition of their final two regular season opponents and their second BCS bowl game depress you too much--I'm sure byu will be just as overrated next year. GO UTES!
sick and tired | 11:34 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Look i don't know where the byU fans learned to state the University of Utah as their little brothers? But we are not. Little signifies younger, weaker, and whinier. Ok maybe our players aren't 26 with a wife and 3 children, but our university was established many years before provo academy came to exist. The problem i have with kitty logic is they are only willing to draw on the past 30 years of history, why only 30? why not the entire history of our rivalry? History shows we are much stronger a program as we have a 53-33-4 head to head record against the kitties. My last points go without saying, byU fans whine more than a 2 year old when he is prevented from viewing spongebob square pants. Get over it kitty fans Utah is going BCS Bowling and you AREN"T!

"I'm sure BYU will be just as overrated next year."

BYU Top 15 to start the season; with Utah starting over. Sweet!

have some cheese with that whine "sick and tired"

Gotta laugh at Utah counting a spring scrimmage (April 1896) as their first win in the series; how desperate is that?

Anyone who knows anything about football knows that football has always been a fall sport; even back in the 1800's. But when you count wins against high schools and the local YMCA in your win total, whadya expect?
Here we go.... | 12:30 p.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Hey Joe

So did your Quest For Perfection t-shirt come with the disclaimer of "but in case we do lose, remember to call this a rebuilding year." How pathetic. You're already getting your excuses amped up for Nov22. Have fun traveling to the New Mexico Bowl, your red-headed step brothers from up north will be basking in the warm sun of Tempe, New Orleans or Miami. (Joe, those are towns that play "Real" bowl games after Christmas day that people actually watch. I wouldn't expect you to understand having never been to the BCS.) Upon our arrival home from another undefeated season we'll let out our Democratic economic side and share the wealth with the less fortunate Mtn. West teams like Wyoming, SDSU and the Cougs.
To "sick and tired" | 12:32 p.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Loved your comment although I think the score will be much closer, it does serve the point of BCS possibility vs. none whatsoever.

And to you "kitty" fans. Be ware: Air Force is for real and could push you to a solid 3rd place with two loses before you face a superior Utah team.

Enjoy your visions of grandeur before they are dashed for good!
to joe | 1:07 p.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Hey Joe. How is living in the 70's and 80's. Why don't you look at 100 years and see Utah has dominated all but those 20 years. The 90's were a push, but the last 10 years have been the Utes. Byu is 2 plays and a bad PI call away from being shut out for the decade. So Joe, shut up and take your mullet and go back to you couger shrine in your mom's basement for another 20 years and maybe by then BYU might have achieve a BCS bowl like Utah (I said might).
Joe again.. | 1:20 p.m. Nov. 13, 2008
To our red headed little brothers fans..

How can you base so much on our one loss to TCU!!?? As I recall, the past couple of seasons the yewts have been pasted by Wyoming and UNLV! At least our only loss the past three seasons was to a ranked team that was FAR better than Utah at their place.

On another side note, you have only won the conference out right ONE TIME! And you were way overrated and beat a sorry Pitt team.

Utah, you aren't a good football team, but why don't you add some more colors to your jerseys and steal more traditions from winning programs. One day you may make it out of BYU's shadow!

I can't wait to see you guys crying in a drunk fit after you lose to the better team in the state, and than not hear from any of you for another 5 season.

Until 2013 my red headed little brothers fair weather fans!!

turn off the horror | 1:42 p.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Its funny how Utah fans try vainly to dismiss the 70's and 80's as living in the past, but they're so quick to point out their overall record vs. BYU which dates back to 1922 or 1896 depending on whose records you believe.

We all know the real reason why Utah fans don't want to live in the past when it includes the 70's and 80's:

BYU so thoroughly dominated Utah during that time that BYU made up almost a 40 game deficit in the series in 20 years.

In overall wins during that time period, it's even worse.

As much as Utah fans like to pretend that Utah was this jaugernaut of a football program before the 70's, the truth is that Utah was a mediocre team playing in obscurity until the last two decades.

Before the 1990's, Utah had only played in two bowl games in their history, had only finished in the Top 25 one time (in just one poll), and hadn't won a conference championship in almost 30 years.

No wonder Utah fans try so desperately to forget the 70's and 80's and pretend they never happened, because that's "living in the past."
Joe, Joe, Joe | 1:44 p.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Joe

I can just feel the anger and jealousy dripping from your forehead as you furiously type. You can throw out all the "we did this back when, and you did this back when, and blah blah blah." Just admit that the Cougs had 1 goal this season, getting to the BCS. They were so obsessed that the team and it's fans actually started the hype without the media's help. If you want to talk about a band wagon, walk around town and count how many Quest For Perfection shirts you see. The only place you'll find them is down at Liberty Park, they have all been abandoned and given to the homeless.

That over-rated Pitt team you mentioned, they did what your mighty Cougs couldn't; BCS baby. As did Boise State and Hawaii, and the UTES TWICE. You're cleary not the best non-BCS team in the country, and I'd argue that Weber would give you a run for your money for the #2 spot in Utah football. The only shadow being cast down south is that of the ego of your head coach, who has spent the last 3 weeks defending his record and downplaying the BCS. SO SAD.
RE: Joe | 1:46 p.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Keep talking about your national championship in 1984 because that's all you have. Oh, and let me tell you about that national championship . . . the system back in 1984 for picking the champion was way more suspect than the BCS nightmare we have now. National champions . . . . Bah ha ha ha ha ha ha . . . . stop, I'm laughing so hard I'm going to faint!
Quest 2009? | 1:50 p.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Joe

It's ironic that the "Quest for Perfection" for both 2008 and 2009 has ended in the depths of October. First the Cougs get destroyed by a more athletic, talented and better coached TCU team; who those pesky Utes just beat again! Then your AD decides to try and schedule Oklahoma for 2009. Guess you'll have to keep that "Quest for Perfection" shirt in the closet again next season and pull out the "Quest to Beat the Utes and Damper their Season is the Only Hope we Have left" shirt.

I agree with Bronco, keep scheduling Northern Iowa State College of the Deaf and Blind, at least it gives a chance for your fans to quietly knit their scarfs and drink their caffeine free rootbeer in silence without worrying about losing to a real team.

Red heads!

Utah isn't going to go to the BCS this year, they will lose to BYU and than we will all live in the presence of three conference championships in a row for BYU! The BCS is an imperfect system that favors the lucky (Utah '04, Hawaii last year) Sure BYU wanted a BCS bowl, we will get it next year and you will be drunk fans hoping to have something to cheer for in 5 years.

BYU may not have a BCS bowl, but we have a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and ownership of our little brothers up north that have had one mediocre season in school history!

To Joe | 2:16 p.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Uhhhh....how exactly is this a rebuilding year for BYU? I thought they were supposed to be better this year since they returned almost their entire offense? Their defense has never been their staple, this year is just as good as last year's.

Weber State, Michigan )in their first losing season in forever), and Utah State were real formidable opponents. Thanks to OSU for beating USC prior to coming to Rice-Tickles. What are you going to do when the best player on your team (a kicker) graduates this year? You can win without Lord Louie! The only thing you have that we want is the Krugers.
Re: Go Utes! | 3:29 p.m. Nov. 13, 2008

At least we're not still playing high schools and the YMCA.

"Our Quest this year is to go undefeated as a band of brothers (a phrase I made up), to do so we will schedule a bunch of weak teams and hope that we don't have to play any conference games... those can be hard."

Good luck with The Quest 2, all you need is some paint to put on your shirts... and to be able to draw a 2.
To Joe again... | 3:55 p.m. Nov. 13, 2008
You should really check your data. As BYU has their back to back conference championships, so does Utah. The first was clinched when we shut out BYU at home in 2003, the next was 2004 when our "way overrated" team couldn't tell just how good we really were because BYU couldn't show up for the game to "put a hurt" on us, and because nobody wanted to lose a BCS game to a non-BCS school (just ask OK).

With us going to our second BCS game, should we now be considered a BCS school?

Joe, put down the french fry catcher before you burn yourself with hot oil! You're getting yourself too worked up and fired. Just learn to deal with it. The UTES will now have the two things that your Cougs will never have, trips to play with the big boys in the BCS. Let us know how Rice looks from the New Mexico Bowl and stop making yourself sound like a pouting & screaming child who has to shout his poor aurguments so they sound a little more feasible.

Here are some other teams who have won a "National Championship" in one of the polls in the past; Notre Dame, Colorado, Nebraska, Georgia Tech, Auburn, SMU, Pittsburgh, Arizona State, and that tough, determined powerhouse you defeated earlier this year Washington. Funny, I know fans from these schools and most of them couldn't tell you when they won, they only care about their teams inability to win big games today. But I guess that BYU tradition is so much stronger than all of these schools it will never die and keeps the blue fleece over Cougar fan's eyes. The fact that matters: YOU LOST!!! 12-1 is good, just not U-T-A-H good!
BYU FAN | 4:55 p.m. Nov. 13, 2008
I think that you guys dont even know what you are talking about BYU is awesome and the UTES are not. Plain and simple who cares if BYU has struggled against teams that UTES beat soundly. Who cares?! It comes down to awesominity and that is what BYU is full of awesomefulness. I look at the UTES they are not awesomeville. BYU awesome. Go cougars I will admit I was upset that BYU losing to TCU had no awesomilius and UTES beating TCU was full of awesomqual. But looking in the eyes of the Cougars I could tell they knew what they were doing. They very sneakily switched the rules for the TCU game and the UTAH game to the team who scores the least actually wins so HA! In your face TCU and watch UTAH your next awesome!!!
