Redistricting has nothing to do with ethics. Is there anything else that Bernick thinks is a good idea that he should have thrown in as also not included? Free parking for reporters in SLC is not on Clark's ethics to-do list.

What does redistricting have to do with ethics? The answer nothing. Mr. Bernick should keep his editorial comments to himself. It is amazing that a story about leadership elections and what the new leader will do to reform campaign finance and ethics ends up taking a turn to a completely unrelated topic just because a reporter has a personal ax to grind about everything. I for one think Clark is a refreshing change.

Redistricting has everything to do with ethics. It is about self-dealing. Legislators choosing their voters, instead of voters choosing their legislators. The few who can't see this self-evident example are truly ethically challenged. They can't tell the difference between right and wrong.

Clark will be an improvement over Curtis. I am hoping Clark will be more like Marty Stephens.

The big losers are the handful of lobbyists like Humper who basically had their way with Curtis.

Todd, in his previous comment, hit the nail on the head.

Redistricting has everything to do with ethics. After the last census, the Legislature did redistricting to favor Republicans in every way. Case in point -- they redrew Jim Matheson's district so it was much more Republican so they could oust him. Rep. Matheson has defied the odds and remained in office by being moderate to conservative. That redistricting was for political purposes only and was unethical!

Rep. David Clark needs to add this issue to his ethics reform list and now. And let's hope the training he got from Greg Curtis will not make him a Greg Curtis clone.

Clark is a very bright man and everything that I know about him tells me that he is committed to making these reforms. Why is it so hard to give a good man and a good leader credit for trying to fix a broken system? He won by acclamation for heaven's sake. This shows that the body believes in him. As an advocate I have been impressed with his willingness to take on health care reform, and he has great ideas. Please check his ideas out for yourself and if you like them let him know. It will only be a matter of time until the Governor tries to take all the credit for ethics and healthcare reform (even though he has done nothing for healthcare, it has all been Clark and Sen. Killpack) so let those who are actually doing the work know your thoughts.

Referees are famous for saying they don't hear the crowds yelling.

I hope Mr. Clark listens - and hears - what Utahns from all walks of life are telling him, including both the public and private sectors. He can't afford to close the ears and plow ahead. One tends to get out on a thin limb or dark trail when that happens.

I am excited for the new leadership in both houses. It can not get any worse than where we just spent the last 4 years.

Power hungry Bramble and Curtis were very embarrassing for Utah. It's too bad that Mr. Valentine was run circles around by Bramble. It made Mr. Valentine, who is a nice man, look like he couldn't manage his assistant. Mr. Bramble is not a nice person and took Mr. Valentine down with him. Maybe, the games they played weren't worth it for them in the long run.

Lockharts the most powerful Republican couple in Utah? Well, that will have to change. Didn't Lockhart notice that her peers will be able to figure out that she will push her husband's agenda and she will become just like Curtis and Bramble. Then, her peers will give her the boot, too. The only reason these arrogant people keep winning is because of the brainwashed people in Utah County.

This is not ethics reform when the House elects the wife of the STATE GOP chair to leadership. They have clearly shown they don't understand conflict of Interest and ethics in government.

Why doesn't anyone see anything wrong with the most powerful "duo" created by the election of Becky Lockhart to leadership, while her husband is Head of the State Republican Party?

Shouldn't one of them resign?

Mr. Clark has to be a huge improvement over Greg Curtis. There's no where to go but up. But Mr. Clark was not such a great referee, so I hope he's better at this job. :)
