Nice story to read about a NBA player. A leader and an inspiration to pay it forward. He knows why everyday matters.

Philly... | 7:11 a.m. Nov. 11, 2008
It says something about Korver that he not only learned to love Philly, but still apparently loves it. My company is headquartered just outside Philly and I can honestly say it is the worst city I've ever visited in the country. The people are rude, the city is crime ridden & dirty, and I have no desire to ever relocate to company HQ as a result. The city of brotherly love is a complete oxymoron.

Props to Korver for learning to embrace that place. The thing I have a difficult time understanding is that now he has been gone for a year, why he still pines for the place. Jeff Hornacek hated the place and has never looked back. Charles Barkely once said Philly fans are the worst in the NBA. In time, Korver will probably get over it as well but it makes you wonder if he'll try to sign with them as a free agent after this season.

Korver is a class act, in every way.

My son lives in Philly and loves it there. But, it took him a year or two.

You missed the one word that means the most to Korver. It's more important than the environment, etc etc etc.

"FRIENDS"

"He (Korver) ended up in a good situation playing for Utah and playing for the one of the best coaches (Sloan) in the NBA, and we end up getting cap space for that."

-How romantic

To Philly...

As someone who was born and bred in the city and surrounding area I find your remarks sad. I have been in countless large cities and everyone has their pro's and cons. To label Philly's bad points without acknowledging it's good points is quite unfair. It's rich history, museums, hospitals, parks, boat house row, sports, schools and colleges, etc. etc. etc. can not be left out in the equation. And yes, even most of the people. Korver is missed here, and we wish him all the best with the Jazz.

Reading between the lines,

I sounds as if korver doesn't really want to be here.

Sounds like they didn't want him there...

They were happy about getting cap space for him...

Maybe he is just naive...

Perhaps he should get over it and stop being a little sissy about it.
