It's great that Brian Johnson has graduated from apprentice to leader after 5 years at Utah. I honestly think he will continue in the footsteps of that future-NFL-Hall-of-Famer, Alex Smith, if some NFL team will just suspend reason for a moment and give him a chance at the next level.

Utes trailing Oregon St. by 11??? Hmm...that's funny. I remember trailing 28-20. I guess they do math differently on the East Coast.

apprentice to leader, he has done one thing at utah and that is win. He will tell you he is not NFL caliber, but if he continues to win he will do something that your beloved Max Hall can't and that is lead his team into the National spotlight of the BCS

Brian Johnson- Genius | 2:05 p.m. Nov. 6, 2008
he has still made the best comment i have ever her uttered. Down 8 with 2 minutes remaining vs O-state the supposed leader drove everybody out of the stands because he was down right brutal for almost 4 quarters, nobody thought they had a chance. When interviewed he decided that when he needed to"put on a show" because people were leaving early. Just be glad that oregon state went to a bad planned prevent so your "show" could take place. very nice brian......lets start putting on a show tonight in the first quarter maybe...then you might win..........naaaaah!

Big Ol' Scrub | 2:16 p.m. Nov. 6, 2008
Brian Johnson is a big huge scrub. Good thing Utah had a good defense to help his scrubbiness not lose plenty of games for Utah.

Alex Smith is a scrubby NFL QB as well. He'll get cut in the spring, like he should have been. #1 overall pick my eye.

Scrubby or not, Alex Smith has had at least as good a career to this point as your beloved Steve Young had. Maybe you don't remember the beat down he received while playing for Tampa. Oh, that's right, you wouldn't remember because you're only four.

He wins | 3:31 p.m. Nov. 6, 2008
I don't care what is being said of Brian Johnson. The man wins football games and that's all that matters. Max may have better stats but who's team is undefeated?

Comparing | 3:54 p.m. Nov. 6, 2008
Alex Smith to Steve Young???

only a clueless Utah homer of epic proportions would even consider that?

It's absolutely idiotic to even think of comparing potential to actually accomplishment.

A player included in the "great potential" category, is usually referred to by another term:

a BUST

Thumbs up to Brian Johnson...he has a great attitude, a never give up demeanor, and is an exemplary leader. Winning games requires a total team effort and the Utes have raised the bar on commitment and dedication.

3 more games, BJ - GO UTES!!!!

Crappy schedule | 4:07 p.m. Nov. 6, 2008
Utah hasn't played anybody.

Oregon State and Michigan are your big games? Nice.

Interestingly, the difference with Steve Young and Alex Smith is that Young actually went on to have an NFL career, but Alex's will be over this spring after he's cut by one of the most QB hungry teams in the league. If you can't be the QB on SF, I don't know where you can be the QB.

We'll see about BJ tonight | 4:17 p.m. Nov. 6, 2008
The Utes are undefeated simply because....
1) They haven't played anyone. And NO, a 2-7 Michigan team doesn't count.
2) The only relevant team they have played (Oregon St.) should have won but they have a bone-headed coach that doesn't know how to manage the clock.

You can talk about being undefeated if you still are after tonight. IF....you still are. Otherwise, Utah is in the same conversation as Ball St.
Brian Johnson is decent, but when you can only manage 13 points against New Mexico and your D is as solid as it is, it's hard to NOT be overrated. Good luck tonight BJ, your true colors will show one way or another

Steve Young would suck as the QB for the 49ers right now! Nobody can be a good QB if they are on you before you get a look. Why do you think Steve Young retired? It was because he had his bell rung a few times too many!
