Hey! I know you hardly ever think about Moab... but Grand County is ALL blue!!!
I'm pretty sure that Utah had another county that went blue too, but I
can't remember which one.
It's good to see Utah is STARTING to move a little towards the center.

Hey!
I know you guys don't think about Moab very often, but I believe Grand County went BLUE! I think there is another Utah County that went BLUE too, but I'm not sure which one.

Once upon a time there was a Republican Party that was a good thing. It stood
for ideas and was the party of Lincoln. It has been hijacked by people who no
longer have the interests of "by the People, of the People" at heart
not to ment their abandonment of the Constitution with the meager excuse
"at a time of war". Well, that's exactly when we SHOULD pay
attention to that fine document. Just ask several prominent, true conservative
Republicans who endorsed Obama and who want to rebuild their party they'll
tell you better than I can. What's really, really sad is that the sheep who
vote lock-step with the Republican Party never attempt to educate themselves by
looking at the truth, research, history and in a simple minded way just vote
with the party. You people are the ones who brought us the Bush Administration.
You have a lot to answer for. Maybe there should be voter education classes? Ah
but would you attend?

I'm actually thinking that Utah Dems will probably do better in 2010 than
2008. This year, I think there were a lot of bitter (yes, bitter!) Republicans
who knew in their hearts that Obama would be our next president. Unable to stop
this, they reacted by voting for Republicans locally. I mean seriously, how
else do you explain Buttars's reelection?
So a better future for America starts now, and hopefully Utah gets on the train in 2010.

You hear "Utah Values" always on the GOP adds, but as time goes on, we
are seeing more republicans like Butters, Curtis, and the state legislator who
bribed a fellow legislator to vote for school vouchers. It is becoming more
evident that "Utah Values" means; say anything and do whatever it
takes to take advantage of the citizens. "Utah Values" mean nothing!
One day Utah, Cache, and Washington county, will be the only red counties in the
state. Everyone else will see the light.

The Dems have been gaining in Utah mainly because it is becoming difficult to
distinguish the Republicans from them. As Reps return to their conservative
prinicples and clean up the legislature, the pendulum will swing back their way.

From the tone of the article, and some of the comments, you would think there
never was a time when Democrats controlled Salt Lake County, or the State
Legislature for that mattter. I grew up in Salt Lake County back in the
fifty's and lived there until I left in 1968. I remember well when, at
times, the old County Commission structure of Government was held totally by
Democrats, including many of the lower level County elective positions. And
there were even times when either one or both legislative chambers of the State
Legislature were controlled by the Democrats. Bottom Line: Political contol is
cyclical, maybe just longer cycles in Utah than nationally. It shows, that
contrary to many nay-sayers, Republican voters are not necessarily sheep blindly
following the herd. As a life-long Republican, I can recall when I voted (more
than once) for Democratic Governors (Rampton & Mathison) plus others because
they better represented my core political beliefs than the Republican
challengers. Utah is more polically balanced than many whiners think it is. Many
Democrats in Utah do not get elected without some significant Republican
support.

What about Grand (Moab) and Summit (Park City) counties? If you check the
election map, they were the only two counties in the state that were blue, blue,
blue.

I don't see anyone complaining that Washington D.C. is so overwhelmingly
blue that there is hardly a red voice in that area! It doesn't seem to be
out of balance when areas are disproportionately "blue, blue, blue".
Why should it come across as strange when an area is "red, red,
red"?
All these comments make it appear that what people want is a more centrist view, but I don't see anyone complaining that the solid blue states need more red... it only goes one way, "red states need more blue", in fact blue states need more blue, right???

Local politics should not be partisan. I don't pay attention to their
party at a local level.

The 5 Democrats elected in SLCo are, each and every one, intelligent, honest,
hardworking, thoughtful, responsive, ethical people. We will be proud to have
them represent us in the Legislature. It is time the rest of the state started
looking at individuals and issues rather than voting straight ticket.

Democrats are communist. Just go to the US Communist Party website and read it
for yourself. Everything the Communist party stands for the Democrats stand
for. You moderators always censor me whenever I point out that the Democrats
are Communist, so maybe you should go see for yourself before you keep blocking
