So happy Greg Hughes won! A well-deserved win for an honest, capable young man so wrongfully accused. Go Greg!!

If you would read the entire comment section you would see that I live on the East coast. I choose to read a whole range of newspapers so I can get a better view of what's taking place in our country. I don't make silly arrogant blanket statements like Utah is #1 and if you don't like it leave. You might want to revisit what the Mormon GA's say about telling people to like it or leave. sad sad sad...
Unbelievable | 6:28 p.m. Nov. 5, 2008
Once again, without even blinking, Utahns vote for corruption, making your friends rich at state expense, voting against the will of the people, treating the legislature like a Republican cash cow, making public affairs private, and laughing like crazy at the poor fools who vote for them.

Curtis is a small sacrifice to make to keep the fat cats happy.

But, the people almost always deserve what they vote for.

Good luck.

Ms. Walker should think or consider her support of Cullimore (and his backroom deals to build hotles in CH)and the creation of CHPD, and friendship with Chief Russo as being a problem for her commnunity. This was a tipping point for a group of us republicans in East Cottonwood Heights. Had she stood up to Cullimore instead of standing next to him, we would have give her our support and money as we have in previous elections.

The D's took down the speaker of the house (curtis) and R's took down the minority leader of the house (hinkins).

a tooth for a tooth.
West Jordan-er-or | 9:47 p.m. Nov. 5, 2008
I agree that Curtis being voted out is a good thing. But I'm kind of getting a little tiny bit tired of the insults at West Jordan. Oh, don't worry! I'm just a little tired of it. You can keep going. I'm unintellegent and stupid so it will take me awhile to get really tired of it.

I love all these critics about voters just looking for the "R" by the candidates name. I know plenty of voters who study the issues, have discussions at work and at home, and then go and vote based upon their conclusions. Just because your candidates didn't all win doesn't mean that the state is full of people who don't study the issues.

I am a registered Republican. I did not vote for Huntsman 4 years ago. I did vote for him this time, begrudgingly because the democrats couldn't offer a better candidate, in my opinion. I did vote for Rob Bishop, and Dan Liljenquist. I did not vote for every judge on the ballet. I voted for other democrats running for office yesterday.

I know many Republicans who study the issues and vote intelligently. I know many democrats who simply want to kick against society and do not really study issues. They vote straight party line regardless of the candidates qualifications and goals. Many of these democrats will never cross party lines on any issue. Is that intelligent?

Don't say Utahns don't study the issues. Don't say Utahns don't vote intelligently. Don't be a sore loser.

Besides, those who really study politics know that Huntsman is not really a Republican. They know he is a moderate Democrat calling himself a Republican. That is intelligent political work.
