What happens if TCU shows up in all black? Is that even possible?

I used to work in the Equipment Room at the University of Utah. The home team
dictates the color and the visitor knows what color to bring. There is no
possible chance of this happening.
As for the idea, I never thought Utah would go for it. Chris Hill did not want black in any uniform. But, I think it will make a fun environment for the game! Utah 17 TCU 14.

If Utah's football team has underestimated TCU as much as Utah's fans
have, it'll be black & blue night for Utah's BCS and MWC
championship hopes.

No. Since they're the road team, they'll be wearing their light
uniforms.

It will be fun to have black jerseys. The only way to know who they are is by
their helmets. So all you'll be looking at is the helmets all night long.
It should still be a tough game whether we wear black, red, or white. It
doesn't make a difference. Go Utes!

Why didnt we fo for the opposite and actually use one of our traditional colors,
White? I mean we are a state known for our incredible snow conditions and this
is the holiest place on earth right? Well maybe we can do it against the
holiest team on earth when the little boys from down south come to town.

TCU's colors are Black and Purple. Good idea Utes to use one of their
colors. It will be like practice for them as they dominate Ute football in every
aspect of the game.

The black uniforms look terrible in my opinion. Why are the Utes dressing in a
uniform that isn't even a team color. At best black is an outline for the
Utes logo.
Alternate unis are just ploys to get more money off jersey sales.

The blackout gimmick will be nothing but a distraction. If the players insisted
on doing it, Whittingham should have scheduled it for the Weber State game.

The ugliest uniforms I've seen are San Diego State's black uniforms.
Let's hope Utah's black uniforms don't drop SDSU to 2nd most

Way too big a deal is being made of this. It's a promotion. However, for
those of you citing the Georgia blackout this year, actually Georgia did it
before this year and won, and Texas Tech did it last week and it worked out
pretty well.

You are right on the mark with those comments. If Georgia had worn their
"normal" home jersey's they obviously would have won the game
becuase we all know that the uniforms are the reason teams win or lose. Maybe
Utah should just steal another teams colors and change their uniforms to that.
I got it, how about "Aggie" blue.

The biggest game of the year, well except for the white helmets down south...and
the team has so little to focus on that they need a decoy with strange ideas
about what color of uniform to wear. Talk about lack of genuine focus and
what's most important and in your face. I agree, it will be a nice excuse
for losing...guess it's just to hard to just focus on a TCU team on a
mission...and I don't mean the kind of mission the white helmets go on!

the fans to wear black, you are digging your own grave. TCU 24 Utah 17.

Already conceding that Utah might not do any better against TCU at home than BYU did against the Frogs on the road???
Utah has every imaginable advantage for this game - playing at home, cold weather, altitude, short week, much less of a target for TCU than was BYU, Top 10 BCS ranking. If the Utes lose this game by even a single point, it'll be a much bigger upset than the beating BYU took in Texas a couple of weeks ago.
Already conceding that Utah might not do any better against TCU at home than BYU did against the Frogs on the road???

The P-Utes will wish they would have just turned out the lights in the stadium
after TCU puts the hammer down on them. Only the P-Utes need to try some gimmick
to get their fans amped for a game like this. I am sure TCU is quaking in their
purple cleats, Oh no they are wearing all black!!! What do we do?!?!? Whatever.

As much as I hate to say it, the future of the 2008 BYU Football Team is
squarely on the shoulders of the UTAH victory on Thursday Night. If UTAH wins,
BYU once again has control of their destiny.
If UTAH beats TCU, then if BYU can find enough Defense to beat UTAH (this is admittedly questionable), all three will end up tied for the MWC Championship with BYU ranked the highest in the Polls. Unless BSU stumbles against Fresno State (doubtful), this will not provide a BCS opportunity for BYU. However, I would be happy with an 11-1 Season and MWC Co-Championship.
So, I find myself reluctantly hoping that UTAH can find the mustard to defeat a very good TCU Football Team. Be warned, it won't be easy. These guys are better than the thumping they took at OU. In fact, I don't think UTAH can do it, but I will be watching and hoping.

Since BYU won it just barely and TCU won it the year before them, Utah would go to the Las Vegas bowl if not a BCS game.

Switching to new uniforms for a match-up with the best team in the conference is
simply a bad idea. With the physical and mental exhaustion that sets in at some
point in a game, very brief, but potentially signficant, confusion is not out of
the question.

I know that to a TDS fan, being objective and not counting your Ws before the kickoff (nor making reservations for hotel and airfare to the NC game prior the commencement of the season) is akin to insecurity about your team's chances. However, it's quite the opposite. Being objective allows us to be a bit more focused, thus enabling us to perform at a higher level.
As far as playing TCU at home being a more favorable arena than playing them on the road, I'd have to agree to it's advantageous nature. However, when you lose on the road 32-7, we can pretty much conclude you would have also lost at home.
Ha ha.

Let's see how well you thought it through, One: The quest for perfection
was a quest for the whole "season" not just one game, are P-ute fans
wearing black the rest of the year? Two: The quest shirts are blue not black.
And the players don't wear quest jerseys when they play. Three: Why
didn't they have a blackout game for Oregon State? Oh that's right, it
is a lame gimmick cuz Ute fans can't get amped for their team, You were
probably one of the amped "fans" that left early during the OSU game
right?

I personally do not like this ploy. Anytime you go away from tradition and
routine, you are asking for trouble. This is just a big marketing gimmick--all
about making some money marketing new merchandise. Heck, black is one of
TCU's colors, so now we are making them feel more at home. Besides, Utah
has never worn black, so this might be a distraction to the players and take
them out of the comfort zone.
