can this season please end for pete's sake...did i read that rsl had a 1-1-1 stretch on the road?...wow that brings chills of excitment to this game...translation: who cares?...why can't real sports like baseball, football and basetball have a tie at the end? that is so unfair soccer gets all the cool rules...what a laugh!

its not our fault that you are to stupid to care. We understand that you can't comprehend the "complex" rules of soccer. So go away. Anyway I can't wait for this game, and I hope that we can come away from it with a point so we can finally go to the playoffs. I will be at the bus stop bright and early tomorrow for the trip to Colorado. I feel like a kid right before Christmas. GO RSL!!!!!!!!

What, no comments about orange wedges at halftime? You soccer haters are disappointing me with your lack of effort.

Go back to watching the world series. Where else can you find 12 seconds of action crammed into 4 hours of coverage?

Getting the first goal would be huge in this one.
Wish I could join those headed to Denver, but wathing on HDNET will be great.
I see Espindola scoring in this one!!

Win or go home? I'm not sure about that. RSL is at 39 points, 10 wins, and +1 goals.

New York is done, right? They're at 39 points, 10 wins, and -6 goals.

Kansas City is stuck at 39 and 10, too, with -4 goals. If they lose at New England (not an unlikely proposition), and barring a 10-0 defeat to the Rapids, isn't RSL in?

Am I wrong on these tiebreaks?

Remember all those times RSL hunkered down at the beginning of the season when trying to hold a lead? I hope that's not their mentality. Our defense is good enough that we can concentrate on possessing the ball in the front 1/3 of the field. Especially at an away game where Colorado HAS to score (and win of course), they are going to be pushing up all game. We've got to pressure them!

When you see soccer on TV, all you do is turn the channel; soccer article in newspaper, which is usually in the back, turn to another page; article on internet, God you don't even have to go to the soccer page. Very simple barney style directions, if you can't get this, you have no hope. Actually the above message is for all soccer haters who seem too stupid to comprehend simple things in order to avoid unwanted articles, or could it be soccer haters will be chanting RSL songs because they feel an unexplained urge to read soccer articles, hmm very interesting.

The first tiebreaker is head-to-head; RSL will be out if they lose.

JCH--the tiebreakers this year are head-to-head competition, not goal differential. Our HtH record against KC and NY wouldn't get us a wildcard, regardless. We have to either tie or win against CO for the open third slot in the West.
I'm just bummed it's on HDNet--I'm gonna have to listen to Bill Riley (the king of pessimism) on the radio.

You are mostly correct. But the first tiebreaker in MLS is head to head and New York beat us there and tied us at home so that lack of focus on the biggest night of the year hurt us big time.

We have to pick up points. NY has the head to head tie breaker over RSL.

Don't waste your time listening to Bill Riley, there will be huge groups heading to various sports bars/grills to watch the game. check out the RSL blog for the official watch parties, or there are groups going to the Huddle in Midvale or the International Soccer Grill in Woods Cross. This is the perfect game to join together and cheer our boys on!

Or head over to georg's house, he said he'll have the game on.

Espy is going to embarrass Burpo again just like last time we met! Winning is key! RSL needs to Attack strong from the get go. i always was taught the best defense is offense. dont hunker down too much the more they posses the ball the more time they have to score. I have huge confidence in Olave and Company, they are some of the best! I love soccer, forget the haters!

the funny thing is my group and I rented a minivan to drive out to Colorado to cheer on the team. I think I'll stop by Costco tonight and pick up some oranges to slice up and share for the ride out...thanks for the ideas soccer haters.

This game is huge! Go for the throat guys! We'll be there behind you!

GO RSL!

Soccer Haters | 2:26 p.m. Oct. 24, 2008
Soccer haters have time to read soccer articles and write negative things about soccer because they do not have any friends. We should all feel sorry for them. They are the people who thought they were so cool in high school that they wish they were back in the glory days of J.V. High School Football. Grow up, get a girlfriend, be happy, or get back to work.

Stupid Ties | 3:21 p.m. Oct. 24, 2008
Actually if you check your facts the NFL does have ties although it is not often...I guess you will just have to find something else to include in your hate filled soccer whining. Here's one soccer sucks 'cause they tie more often then we do.

Always has been a soccer friendly pub! Not officially on the list for RSL cause it's a "private club." My crew and I will be there! Fiddler's Elbow, Sugar House!
