don't they always say this is the best year? It's all PR, the WAC is a superior conference with better teams, better players, and better coaching. Football may be the MWC's calling card, but their basketball is second rate.

Last I heard he had been asked to go and play in Europe for a year, but I am not sure where I heard that.

Plaisted was drafted by the Pistons and sent to the developmental league in Europe...he knew that when they drafted him.

He had graduated and he and his wife had no desire to continue the college life.

Someone's not getting enough love at home. I mean, who peruses a Salt Lake paper waiting for any mention at all about UNLV so he can post some lame comment? Sad. Sad indeed.

Yeah, we'll see about that. Don't get me wrong, the Rebels have a strong team, but games are played on the hardwood and not on paper.

To the gentleman who called the WAC a "superior conference": Keep telling yourself that buddy. Look at the head to head records of the Mountain West vs. the WAC in recent years before you comment. Also, the WAC will be lucky to win two games against its Mountain West foes this year. The WAC is a one bid league. The Mountain West will get four teams into the NCAA Tournament and regularly gets three. Before you make comments, do some research. You have no argument and you are just another ignorant fan of a second rate conference who wishes his team was in the Mountain West Conference.

Uhh...correction...Plaisted was drafted by the then Seattle Supersonics (now the Oklahoma City Thunder) and then traded to the Pistons. He's playing in Italy but the Pistons still retain his rights for two years. It's been reported that for him to make it in the NBA he needs to improve his jump shot and face-up game.

We wish Plaisted would have stayed another year. Joe Darger at 6' 6" had no problem shutting him down. Plaisted was the best player on our team. Sorry to see him go.

yes the WAC is a superior conference, Utah State will beat both Utah and BYU so are you telling me nobody else will beat a mighty mtn west team? LOL, good one. The WAC teams who make the tourney regulary show much better than the overrated teams from the mtn. west, do some research, look it up, and then when you actually figure out the math (unless you graduated from the U, then have your work friend at the gas station help you) you'll see the winning % of WAC teams is higher. The mtn. west gets the press which is the only reason why they send more teams to the NCAA, but regularly lose to WAC teams and always choke in big games. You must be proud of yourself for pretending to have done research and then called someone else out. Ignorance must be bliss eh buddy?

If the tournament is all about money why would you move it out of Vegas? Tell me somewhere else to play the tournament that would be as successful as it is in Vegas? Denver worked out really well!! A great team learns to win on the road in the weak MWC. Doesn't matter where the tournament is held. Great teams find a way to win. Or are you just bitter that UNLV keeps beating you when it counts? Maybe that's why you want the tournament moved? Lame reason.

Look at RPIs, scoring averages, and records...but what really matters is post season success. Frankly, the MWC hasn't had much of it in its existence. The Utes' run to the Final Four was during the year before the MWC formation and since then only twice have teams from the conference hit the Sweet 16 (Utah and UNLV) and none have gone farther. This conference is fairly weak in basketball. The WAC isn't any better.

If the MWC got better seeding then they would do better in the tournament. Last year UNLV plays Kansas in the 2nd round. Not a good draw. If you get less than a 6th seed, no chance of going very far. The problem is the MWC needs to go out in the world and beat good teams early in the year like Ganzaga does. They will play anyone on their home court. Tell BYU, Utah and UNLV starts taking chances on the road they will never get good seedings.

My good friend. The WAC plays on ESPN, but by your rationale, the Mountain West gets all the pub. Aren't you contradicting yourself? Let's look at the numbers. Yes the Mountain West hasn't shown to well in the big dance, thanks to byu's failures, but outside of Nevada 2004 no WAC team has won an NCAA Tournament game, and that includes a 5 seed Nevada team that lost to a 12 seeded Montana in 2006. No Mountain West team has ever received higher than a 6 seed. Since 2005, the Mountain West has a record of 5-8 with the 2005 Utah team advancing to the Sweet 16 and beating UTEP who was a member of the WAC at that time, and as well as the 2007 UNLV team that advanced to the Sweet 16. The WAC boasts a record of 2-7 with both wins coming from Nevada. Those are the facts my friend. The truth hurts. Go back to Utah State and schedule somebody if you want to compete with the big boys. Try to mix in an NCAA Tournament victory for yourself as well. How is that for a U of U education?

"To: Numbers," I think you ought to check the Utes' schedule. If Mr. Boylen can get his experienced team to play to their potential and win some of these big games he has arranged, then the Utes will have plenty of national attention to go along with their talent. I must say, Jim is looking to be the shot in the arm that this basketball program needed after Majerus left (good overall, but we experienced a few too many transition years with the post-Bogut Giac teams).
