I cant wait either .... It will be a great game ...too bad it is in Delta! Probably be snowing with 60 mph winds that will put ice on the ball while they pass it! The ONLY bad part about winning the game for Juan Diego will be that they will have to face Logan in their playoff bracket, which is still the team to beat in 3A this year and will be a force in the playoffs, so the good news for Delta is that they will not have to face Logan this year and can beat Morgan! Final score Juan Diego 27 Delta 7! It will be a Hurricane vs. Juan Diego State 3A Championship this year. Juan Diego will WIN! ONLY 12 more days to see WHO really is the BEST team in Region 8 and the ONLY undefeated team left in 3A!

I'm a Jordan fan and I dont believe Jordan's last two games against Skyline and Alta are "crucial" like you said.
With wins over Brighton, T-ville and Hillcrest Jordan has already clinched a playoff birth. And with Jordans end of season injuries the last 2 seasons, leading to early playoff exits, I say Jordan rest their starters agians Skyline and Alta, take the Losses and be at full strength for the playoffs!!

Alta will not bet by Jordan. Everyone knows the real State Championship in 5A will be played one week early between Layton and Bingham. It is unfortunate that the pairings don't line up the two best in State for the championship game. When will the UHSAA get it right.

You must be a Layton fan? This year, the real state championship will not be decided in the semi-finals as it was a year ago! The two best in 5A will match in the finals this year pitting Alta against Bingham! Mark My Words!. Layton is a solid team but they will not be able to outplay the defensive unit of Bingham. Kind of like last year when the 4 horsemen were stifled by the Hawks stingy defense.

Alta and Bingham are the class of 5A football, and that game in November, will draw in thousands of fans.

Sure are a lot of people that talk about the "REAL championship game". There are brackets for a reason. You can't please everybody. Some years, there will obviously be 'easier' brackets. But that's the way the oblong football bounces. The 5A 'TRUE CHAMP' will be between the 2 that make it to the top. The 4A 'TRUE CHAMP' will between.......and so on and so on.

At least high school in Utah gets it right. The BCS/NCAA/BS system can't get it right, and won't until they go to a bracket system. Weber St at least has a 'chance' to be the nat'l FCS champ.

These are the actual power rankings derived from the same system that Arizona uses to crown their state championships. Utah needs to get on board with this system! It works! This is how it would work in 5A. When the final games of the regular seaon are played, the 4 region champions would get an automatic birth into the state tournament. The next twelve spots are in determined by the power ranking. Then all sixteen teams are seeded based on their power rankings, and the tournament is played. You could realistically have #1 and #2 playing every year, which is how it should be. No more inviting teams to the tournament that have no business being there. No more seeding the tournaments 3 years in advance! A playoff system like this is what every high school football fans in the state would like to see at all classifications. Everyone needs to petition the UHSAA to make the necessary changes. It works in Arizona, California, Texas, and Colorado. Why not in Utah?

Ha Ha Ha, I get it! Sarcasm about all the comments last year about not having a Bingham-Alta state championship matchup. Nice, ....that is if you ARE being sarcastic? Anyway, the Bingham-Layton semi will be a nice tuneup game for Bingham before they go against the Hawks in the championship game.
On another note, I think Skyline is a team that will do some damage in the playoffs. Jordan will find out how tough the Eagles are next week. Riverton is also a team that can do damage. I haven't watched P.G. play but from the looks of their scores they should be competitive with anyone. As you can tell I'm not convinced with Layton. But I would be excited to see a Layton-Bingham semi.

Don't kid yourself. I'm not saying Alta is the best team(only time will tell), but they are definitely a championship caliber team. Also, Alta handled Bingham earlier this year, so you might want to back up your comments otherwise you'll be eating your words! Plus, "Alta will not bet by Jordan"? You wanna clarify what that means?

There is no way Binghams, Alta or Pleasant Groves Defense is better then Layton. It's just un fortunate with the number of fans that Layton draws that Bingham and Layton can't meet in the championship. We all know however, that the truc championship will be played one week early.

Wait a second... Those "power rankings" could not be right.. If they are then Timpview has beaten 2 of the top 6 5A teams. They only schedule and beat sissie teams. And by the way Cottonwood has beaten another..

And, including Northridge in the top 5 of anything is a joke!!!

What's all this talk about Bingham-Layton being the "real" championship game?? All of a sudden Alta is not in the same league as those two teams? That's a joke!!! Alta has already beat Bingham this year and they are currently ranked #1. We'll just have to wait and see...

It's just that Alta really hasn't proven itself this year. They did beat Bingham this year true but that was at the beginning of the season, just like cottonwood beat Layton. Actually Cottonwood didn't beat Layton, Layton beat themselve and everyone who saw the game including Cottonwood would agree. Regardless, both Layton and Bingham have proven themselves during the last 4 weeks and many have said they are the two best teams and again, the two best don't get to play in the Championship, so we will have to consider the smei as the TRUE championship this year.

Already setting up the excuse for Layton losing to Bingham in the semi's. Smart play being able to say the semi's were the true championship. Everybody knows that isn't true but I like the creativity!

Everyone knows that Alta is #1 I have only respect for that team and their program as a whole.
Layton is a solid team but I don't see them advancing past Bingham in the semi's.
Bingham against Alta in a tough battle for the real and only championship.
That will be a great game.

First of all, San Juan will put 40+ on you and second of all, you could run the table and still not be top five. Juab would roll you! When did you get all this South Sevier confidence? It must have been when you shut out a sorry Grand team 10-0 or maybe it was when you shut out a horrible Beaver team 15-0. Juab's second string would put 25 on you alone. San Juan might be up 21-0 before your band sits down!! The only way you get close to San Juan is if PAT WARNER were your starting middle linebacker....

To haha: A lot of people care about 3A football. I guess only good athletes are born in big cities? With a mind set like yours many CA, TX and FL teams would say "who cares" about Utah sports as they can not compete! Being in 4A or 5A ONLY means you have MORE athletes on the field. Many of these 3A teams have beat up on 4A and 5A teams, what does that say then? Only 4A and 5A matters if you are in the top 2 or 3 teams? JD is ranked in the TOP 15 .... higher than a lot of 4A and 5A programs ..... What team does YOUR boy play for? I guess that is all that matters then .... or are you just MAD that JD is ranked higher than your team? JD is set to WIN the State Championship and October 23rd will tell everyone, then maybe we will get some respect! GO JD!

Everybody thought Layton was overrated last year too. I loved it when I saw somebody say the 'true championship' is going to be Layton vs Bingham. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Rich just kicked Skylines butt Friday in four games. Their Freshman beat Skyline, their JV beat Skyline also. That was 5A against 1A. They could beat more of the 5A teams than just Skyline. Sure I am talking about volleyball and not football but still, Shut UP already. 5A and 4A does not have all the answers to sports. It is embarrassing that a school with only 125 kids can compete and beat these schools that are choosing their athletes from thousands. It happens stud! Sports happens to be very important to us and we are pretty good at them in rural communities around the state.

Hey 4A fan...please stop with the 4A nonsense. We all know Timpview and Cottonwood are legit. They could hang with 5A teams. TV actually beat 2 pretty good 5A teams. I just don't think either would stay unbeaten with a tough 5A schedule.

After that who do you have in 4A????

-Mountain Crest squeeked out a win vs. 1-7 Fremont and lost big to Northridge

-PineView please, could not beat a single team in region 1, maybe not more than 3 or 4 of the 5A teams total.

-Bountiful. SHUTOUT by Lone Peak.

Don't use Cottonwood and TV as trying to prove that 4A is better. 24-13 in favor of 5A this year. ...by the way...lets see if you score a single point in the 5A vs. 4A all star game this year. Those games are a joke.

My Guarantee- Now that PG is good, TV will drop them from the schedule.

Btw 4A fan. Alta, Bingham and Jordan (3 of the Top 5 in 5A) didn't play any 4A teams, or it would have been worse. NONE of the 24 wins came from the top 5 teams in 5A.

This is not even an argument... Of course 5A schools are better then 4A 3A 2A and 1A schools. 5A schools have what 1500 students? Not to mention better coaches because 5A programs offer better pay. 5A schools have much more talent and size to chose from. So of course they are better! However there are 5A teams like Lehi who just get raped by everyone they play. and there are teams in 4A like Timpview who could beat most of the 5A teams. However the best of 5A would beat the Best of 4A any day of the week. Just a fact
