Anyone who has known someone with a porn addiction knows it is eerily similar to
a drug addiction.

Excellent insight and very informative. It's good to hear that the medical
community is starting to get a handle on this problem. It breaks up families
and ruins the lives of good people. Thank you for publishing the article.

Of course! Fight fire with fire. Use the internet to attack the problem that the
internet makes so easy to get hooked on. Brilliant. I truly hope Candeo can
start pushing back the tidal wave of filth that is overwhelming us at every
turn.

I am a recovering sex addict and the disease is indeed cunning, baffling and
powerful. I am am not completely sure that I see that one can receive adequate
therapy over the internet. Personally, I have had to have actual people in my
life and the ability to tell my story out loud in a safe environment and hear
the experience, strength, and hope of others. For this reason I found
twelve-step programs (SA, SAA S&LA, Celebrate Recovery) to be helpful
because behind the computer I am still in that place of isolation. I can see
using the internet to reach sex addicts, but I think eventually relationships
have to be formed for recovery to take place.

To add on to my last comment and I am also a little concerned about a "six
week program that will cure you for only $499". I'm not saying this
is a fraud and maybe five hundred bucks is worth it if it is not a fad and
really causes a change (this can go either way). Nevertheless, I guess I'm
of the mindset that I am so thankful for those who gave me help that I am more
than willing to help another addict for free. Certainly I don't want to
make a profit out my addiction. I want to give back what was freely given to
me. Sounds too much like midnight infomercials in my opinion.

Porn is a tsnumni wave engulfing our society in slease, broken relationships,
suffering families, lost self esteem, guilt, secrecy and a whirlpool that only
drags a person deeper and deeper down a black hole.
How is it possible to turn off the mind's recording devices and erase all the images stored? The never-ending replays go on forever.

I like this approach to dealing with the addiction. I don't think most
people are willing to sit in a group and talk about it with other people. Even
though outdeep's intentions are good, how are you going to find people that
are addicted and "coach" them through the addiction?

There are 12 step programs out there that the LDS church does that work.
It's the ONLY thing that has helped my husband and I. Yeah its not fun to
go at first and be seen in public, but sorry you can't try to hide by doing
it online or you will never get over the releapses. Remember the temptation will
always be there, it's not giving into the temptation you are trying to fix.
I feel like hiding online isn't going to do a darn thing. If you really
want help you will do anything and everything you can and put your pride aside,
both for the addict and his loved ones.

I agree with outreach. there is a 12 step program the Lds church offers for
anyone to come to. It's the only thing that helped my husband and I. yeah
it's hard getting out and doing it but if you want to change it's the
only help that really works if you put your heart into it FOR free.

If this program is as effective as their website says then I think it is a great
idea. A 12 step program can be effective but there are many places in the world
where there aren't enough LDS people around to make up a group like that
... for them, this site may be their only option.

Anonymous & anonymous2 I'm not sure why every ward doesnt have a 12
step group for pornography addiction but our bishop has refered me and my
husband to a counceling program (which I know costs quite a bit of money). I
hope this program helps us as much as the 12 step program helped you

I do know Dr Bernell Christensen and I also heard the therapy has a 5%
recidivism rate instead of 75% in so many other environments, at least done in
the office. Taking it to the Internet is a new thing as described, but they had
much greater success than many, and that is part of why they took it here.
There are all types of people, but it sounds like they have a handle on what is
needed. I will be checking it out. Hope to be among the 95%. Leaving the
internet with a technology job has proven difficult at best.

I am a licensed therapist and I reviewed their product online. It is full of
misinformation and many of their claims counter those found in the research by
those treating pornography addiction. It�s unfortunate Mr.
Kastleman is taking advantage of others who are struggling with this problem. I
suspect he is well-meaning, however, there is NO way this product is helping
1000�s of individuals. I doubt they�ve
had more than 50 people even use the product because anyone who has struggled
with a pornography addiction will take one look at this product and realize it
is an unrealistic approach to recovery. It�s a shame the
Deseret News gave it so much attention without doing their homework. Utah
therapists such as Rory Reid, Dan Gray, Mark Chamberlain, Todd Olsen, Rod
Jeppson, and others have programs that require time, energy, and effort, but are
effective. Mr. Kastleman�s claim about 4-5 month waiting
lists is unbelievable. Try anyone of the therapists above and
you�ll get in within 6 weeks. I will continue to refer my
patients who have pornography addictions to these therapists.

I would love to see the proof that they have had the success they are claiming.
This is a new product that has only been available in its current form for less
than 30 days. To claim success when the product just came online is false
advertising and I predict legal ramifications. No way this has any clinical
proof as it is used as an internet program. I wish it were true. Beware of
impossible claims. I hear they are using claims of LDS church endorsement to
sell it... Sounds like another lie.

Going to the website you realize you are getting for $499.00 what the company
can provide for a very small overhead. Automatic e-mails, texts, and
"check-ups" cost next too nothing once you've established a
system. Give me $500 and I'll e-mail you every hour and encourage you.
This is an unfortunate...let's call it like it is...scam, of people wanting
to profit from a gap in a billion dollar industry. "outdeep's"
comments are right. If so sincere and desire to reach out, why reach into
peoples' pocket so deep? Porn addicts are hurting enough, don't waste
your money on lofty promises from people who won't even look you in the
eye. Know a wooden nickel when you see one.

Notice how "anonymous" and "whoever" commented the same day
and commented within 10 minutes of each other. Their messages are the only
non-skeptical and obviously biased prospective that just happens to use similar
language to the web-site's. "Coaching" gave it away kid. The
probability of all these positive messages being different people is probably
the same as the 6 week program has on a disgruntled sex addict willing to fork
over $500 for false claims. You will find dear Dr's. that people are
actually quite intelligent and can spot a fake from a mile away. GOOD LUCK.

My husband is going through this program and it's the most hopeful thing
has found. The program encourages the spouse to go through program too (for no
additional fee) to gain a better understanding of what your spouse is
experiencing and helps you both to fight this fight together. My husband has
tried everything and every 12-step and recovery program you can name but he
feels like this company "gets it" and understands the root of the
problem like no other program before it.
You get lots of mini-course material lessons and exercises and it's really like an online class, with LOTS of helps and extras. You are not just paying the money for text messages etc. I hope if you have the money, you will give it a try. All addicts are different and I have no doubt that this program can help thousands!

It's not a scam at all. I broke down and bought the program, and was
pleasantly surprised how good it is. If what you're doing isn't
working, give this a try. I wish I'd heard about it 10 years ago. I'm
three months in and working hard at it, and it's succeeding beyond my
wildest dreams. I've tried 12-step programs for alcoholism, and they work
for that. But this works (for me) better for pornography and masturbation. If
what you're doing works, great. If not, I'd recommend you try this.
