"From out of state" yes, Bingham is going to play Trinity next year. I think it's going to be a blowout but Bingham wants to play the best teams they can. I hope they can at least make a good showing. A Bingham win would be huge but I think that to say it's extremely unlikely is a gross understatement. Wish Bingham luck, they're going to need all the help they can get in Dallas. Just playing Trinity is a huge step up for Bingham.
I don't know how Coach Peck managed it but I'm in awe at his ability to arrange such games for the Miners.

True blue you need a life. Layton will not go to state title game and will be very lucky to win region. You act like you work for the deseret news . Wow your just a little bias for your team. Any body can be beaten on any given night. You seem to have a opinion about everthing.
Anonymous | 9:37 p.m. Oct. 8, 2008
Bingham's playing Trinity? Why play a lower class school (like the thunderchickens) at home when you can go to Dallas and get stomped by one of the best teams in the country? Good luck "mighty Miners", your gonna need it!

TBLF and FNR, While your posts do take up a lot of the space on these boards I find them sometimes amusing and usually insightful. Keep em coming

And we should put stock in your rankings? Viewmont hasn't even played Northridge yet....Not the brightest bulb on the tree are you?
Doug C-wood | 10:05 p.m. Oct. 8, 2008
haha the reason layton is ranked under cwood in the national rankings isnt because layton has a tougher schedule. but because CWOOD BEAT THEM!! hahah good try though

Timpview lost to Lone Peak in 06.
Hey Ram Nation | 9:12 a.m. Oct. 9, 2008
"everyone, and anyone, in 5A and 4A, for that matter, would've been smoked by Timpview of '07 and '06." - Are you sure?????

06- They lost to Lone Peak
07- Tight win vs. PG (PG lost to AF & Davis by 20)
07- Tight win vs. SF (30-28) SF lost to Alta 44-7 w/o Shak
(keep in mind SF was 6-6)
07- TV beat LP 27-6 wow. PG was 2-9 and played TV closer that some of the 5A teams they played.

Might want to check the facts before you go posting something that makes you look silly.
oops | 9:13 a.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Lone Peak was 2-9 in 07 not PG.
Cwood Fan | 11:44 a.m. Oct. 9, 2008
yeah dont pay too much attention to what Ram Nation has to say. He thinks Highland is going to take this state this year over Cwood and Tview, and all the other teams that are much better than them. Go check out the article on the cwood highland game and you will see how much nonsense he speaks. I think tview would hang with the powerhouses in 5a. In fact i think 4a has the edge on 5a this year in powerhouse teams. but it is all perspective, and we wont know until next year when cwood moves up to 5a. Region 2 next year will consist of Cwood, Cyprus, Granger, Hunter, Murray, Skyline, West. Skyline is really the only remotely good team in the bunch, hunter is alright, and with cwood returning most their starters next year it should be an easy region to take. Any thoughts anybody?

Logan and Hurricane in the state title game, with Logan winning it all

The Pine View Dixie game will be very evenly matched... It will be interesting to see how Coach Monkers plays against Hosner, The reason for the last 10 years of defeat for Dixie is their horrible offensive coordinators. Things will be very different this year. Both teams have decent talent and great coaching.. It will be a coaching battle for sure. Dixie has more threats then Pine View. Dixie has also done very well on one of the toughest schedules in the State, Bishop Gorman, and La Costa Canyon are the only two loses Dixie's had. Both are outstanding teams. Pine View has an upperhand with confidence and has more experience. Dixie is almost all first year starters. This will be a great game! Prediction: Dixie 42 Pine View 28
Dixie's Defense just needs to control the run game, Offense needs to move the ball and get in the endzone!

Correction:If there is one that standsout and is apparently clear in region 1?
It is ...PARITY!!! All teams share the same level of talent......for Viewmont to beat Syracuse to beat Northridge who beat Layton for 3 qtrs only to lose a close one.....is CLEAR evidence that region one is no powerhouse! Come the playoffs look for region 1 to have an early exit.....

Top 5
1. Alta
2. PG
3. Lone Peak
4. Bingham
5. Syracuse
99. Hilldale one-legged girls powderpuff Poli's
100. Timp WHIMPS!
Lancer fan | 3:38 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
You have no clue what your saying mr anonymous, cause first of all Layton only allowed 14 points against the number one offense in state, and second northridge scored all their 14 points in the first quarter, and didn't get closer than 40 yards. Till the end of the game where they didn't take care of buisness when they needed to, and layton did.
just wondering | 3:56 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
To Lancer fan, isn't the number one offense in the state Alta? I checked the #'s on it. At the bottom of comments page 2 it has some stats, are you talking about North Ridge when you say #1 off. in the state? Just wondering
True Blue Layton fan | 4:32 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
To anonymous at 1:58 PM: You said, "Viewmont to beat Syracuse to beat Northridge who beat Layton...who beat ____ who beat -----"

What are you talking about? Please clarify.
actually | 5:14 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Sky view has the number 1 offense followed by Cottonwood at number 2, then goes pine view, then timpview, THEN alta, northridge is far off with like 4 teams in both 5a and 4a ahead of them. just to clarify to everybody. check the leader boards.
Northridge #1 ofense. | 6:28 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
At the time they played Layton, they were #1 Alta was #2. That has since changed. Check your history.

Re: Cwood Fan

When have I said that Highland is going to win state? Good luck finding it on these boards, because it isn't there. Cottonwood is the team going around saying that they're going to win it all this year. Cottonwood is the team setting up the championship game with Timpview. Well I have news for you, and it kills me to say this, because I do not like Timpview, but, I have watched them play, this year, and I watched your game vs. Highland, Layton, and Pine View. Cottonwood is nowhere in the same league with Timpview.
Let me explain, Cottonwood, hasn't faced coaching the caliber of Timpview, nor have they face as talented a secondary as Timpviews. I am a Region 6 fan, but I am a realist also, Cottonwood, if they're lucky enough to face Timpview, will end in the same result as the Timpview vs. Pine View game, last year. Cottonwood is good, but a state championship, not goona happen.
Ram Nation | 6:48 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Let's just say, Layton, Bingham, Alta, and Cottonwood, are running their mouths, claiming supremacy in Utah. Until proven otherwise, Timpview reigns, in Utah.
The one thing that bugs me, is 5A saying they're better than 4A, simply because they have larger enrollments, well that theory has been blown out of the water, all over the state, this year.
5A, ought to count their lucky stars that Timpview doesn't schedule them, Layton, Bingham, or Alta, because Timpview U., would stomp you!
worom | 7:10 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Skyview's star quarterback was watching from the sidelines in Idaho. Give 'em abreak. Watch what the cats do against Bountiful and Mountain Crest!
True Blue Layton Fan | 8:14 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Doesn't matter how good of an offense a team has. It's overall. For as many years as you go back, the top teams in point differential are going deep into the playoffs & usually in the semis. After the last few weeks, it's all falling into place again.
re: Ram Nation | 8:22 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
there he goes again. Timpview is good no doubt favored to take state this year. Thing is its the sports writers on dnews and trib that are setting up the cwood tview championship. Check it yourself its all over the place "Cottonwood may be the only 4a team that has a chance against Timpview" don't get too angry over the fact that Highland isn't mentioned as a legitimate contender for the title. The sad thing is there isn't much cwood trash talking going around. Only when its started by ridiculous posts by Ram Nation hmmmmmmm. Of course we will give you a hard time after you claimed that Highland would win. VENGEANCE!!? please you sound so childish. I won't put you down to much ram, just be ready to eat your words if by some miracle Cwood takes state. Though it seems that if you haven't partaken of the humble pie yet, you never will.
ALTAFAN | 8:43 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
RE Cwood fan, We look forward to having you in 5A next year. I think you're right as far as how your region will be stacked. Skyline will be the only team with any hope and behind them Hunter who has on and off years so we don't know yet. Keep playing next year like you are this year and you should take the region. 5A vs 4A is all perspective like you said. Despite all the arguments it's impossible to know at this point. Hopefully we'll see you next year in the tourney. Ram Nation we don't need to count our lucky stars. We've asked them to play us for 2 years and they won't do it. We do have larger enrollments in 5A but not all of us recruit...
Dixie Predictions: | 9:27 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
The Dixie fans setting them selfs up. This will be a good game for sure. I predict Pine View 42 Dixie 0. Dixie's not as good as they think.I saw them play last week at Desert Hills, and thier not that good.Pine View would have to pull the starters after the first quarter to keep the score down under 50 on DHH .
Good luck Dixie, you will need it.
Colt Tyler | 9:56 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
TV is the best team in the state until they win, FINALLY i agree with something Ram Nation says. I also agree with ALTA fan in the fact that our region next year is stacked. It may not be loaded with high end teams, but they are all very solid and as you said i do not know how Cottonwood will do in 5A. From their performance against Layton I am hoping it shows they can hold their own because Layton is a VERY good team
Upset of the week | 10:01 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008

True Blue Layton Fan | 10:50 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
After my post about none of last year's Layton players going to D1 schools.....this year, well, there's 2 that have confirmed offers. Thomas Bryson DE/TE, Stanford & Utah State. Karl Williams: Stanford, Air Force & Princeton. Hopefully there's more on the way!

Way to go boys!
to TBLF | 11:22 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Didn't Layton have more last year? Two are at Weber State, one at SUU. I have heard that the two at Snow both received D1 offers but turned down Utah State and Weber to play at SNOW for the experience. Don't know for sure, just curious if you know.
ALTAFAN | 11:27 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
RE Upset of the week, I think that score is highly possible but it won't happen. In many of their games, Skyline, Brighton, etc... Alta has let their 2nds play almost the whole second half. I see maybe 45-7 with the 7 coming sometime in the second half against the 2nds.
cold front moving in!!! | 11:34 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
aaaaahhhhhhhh! finally! football weather is here! no more of those 70 degree evenings. now its time to see the fog snorting out of the lineman's helmets, the steam rolling off their heads, the football iced up, the field frozen hard!
True Blue Layton Fan | 11:47 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Love that last post about winter. I prefer watching in fall weather.

Not sure about the 2 that may have passed up Weber & Utah State. Who'd want to play at a losing Utah State, and why would anybody pass up playing for Ron McBRide and go to Snow. Although Snow is usually #1 or 2 nationally in Jr College. I'd be curious if anybody knows who passed up what. I guess also what somebody's offered and what they actually are doing is different. Positions may have been locked up at Weber too.
Snow vs Weber State | 9:21 a.m. Oct. 10, 2008
If I felt I could eventually play for a tier 1 university, I would choose Snow over Weber anyday of the week, even with MAC in the picture. Wilson and Putnam made the right choice to go to Snow. I do question Snow's decision to play Putnam at Safety vs Wide Out. I understand both are playing well.
Hey Ram Nation. Get a clue | 9:32 a.m. Oct. 10, 2008
There you go spouting off without checking your facts.

"The one thing that bugs me, is 5A saying they're better than 4A, simply because they have larger enrollments, well that theory has been blown out of the water, all over the state, this year"

24-13 in favor of 5A!!!! They only thing blown out of the water is your postings. All of them.

Weren't you the one saying how bad you were going to beat East and posted during the Highland JV game....The more you post the worse you look.
TO C wood fan | 9:44 a.m. Oct. 10, 2008
First of all good luck in 5A next year, they will do fine.

your quote
"In fact i think 4a has the edge on 5a this year in powerhouse teams."

As far as "powerhouse" teams....and this is just my opinion.
5A has Bingham and Alta, 4A has Timpview and Layton. Argue who is better and it is just opinions.

From there it is all 5A. I would take Layton, Jordan, PG, Lone Peak and even Syracuse and Northridge over East, Mountain Crest, SV and Pine View any day.
Cwood Fan | 11:30 a.m. Oct. 10, 2008
Cwood and Timpview are powerhouse and i think they would do well against bingham and alta, not saying they would win but they would be much more competition then they have been seeing. I think only the top 5 in 5a are good then it drops off rapidly. Sadly its the same with 4a. But like i said before its just perspective. Ram Nation the only teams that have been beating top 5a teams are Cwood and Timpview, Highland won skyline and American Fork. Wahoo for them.
Great posts ALTAFAN and Hey Ram Nation. Get a Clue, Ram Nation never has anything intelligent to say.
How is Alta looking next year? do they return many starters ALTAFAN? On that note what teams do you think will be good in 5a next year?
Layton is 5A | 5:21 p.m. Oct. 10, 2008
Layton is 5A, not 4A.
Putnam and Wilson | 11:50 a.m. Oct. 11, 2008
They are both playing really well.
Chad got the National Junior College player of week!
