Layton's offense is looking to continue to explode as injuries are starting to heal and the team continuity is starting to mesh. Syracuse, is looking for revenge, as last year, Layton beat them on their own turf, in a torrent downpour, where Syracuse almost beat 1 of the top ranked teams in the state.
The home crowd will be a plus for Layton, where thousands pour in every home game to support their team. Syracuse only beat Clearfield & Viewmont by a TD.
Layton wins 26-9.
*** UPSET SPECIALS? Could it be? Typically, upsets aren't as plentiful in high school, let alone to actually guess an upset correctly. So, anybody want to take a stab at an upset in these 5A games?
Bingham @ Riverton
Syracuse @ Layton
Pleasant Grove @ Spanish Fork
Jordan @ Brighton
Hillcrest @ Alta (HA!! just kidding!)
My UPSET SPECIAL OF THE WEEK, for whatever reason other than maybe it's just the way the ball bounces, and home field advantage (along with the fact that their offense is explosive & I expect a shootout):
Riverton over Bingham 34-32
Any others? 4A, 3A, 2A, 1A???? Come on....somebody else stick their necks out.
And Second, Your not a writer for the des news so stop acting like it!
Alta 72 - Hillcrest - 0.
And how Bingham is still in the top 10 is totally ridiculous. The only thing scarier and scarier about Bingham is how their always adored by the media. Get off it already will ya? They've lost two games and will more than likely lose again before the playoffs.
I just hope Layton thinks they're ready in November.
Come on Dnews...Cottonwood is definetly better than Layton and proved it...but they can't beat Bingham, and the Timp Whimps are the kings of Utah County, but couldn't beat ALTA or Bingham!
Predictions....
Watch as Syracuse dumps Layton!
And Bingham will lite up Riverton 45-3
East will stun Cottonwood!
Timp will knock off another 3A team!
And the Skyline Seagles will lose another one!
For Upset TBLF, I give Syracuse or SF the higher odds. I have seen them all. Rivertons O is good, but say what you will Bingham is tough. Brighton is a joke, so count Jordan a win.
SF if they throw a ton I can see that happening. As for 'cuse i dont really expect them to beat Layton but it seems to me that Region 1 may be the top to bottom toughest region, but everyone is mediocre (at the moment). If Jackson continues to impress then I give it to Layton, but really, Layton should have lost to Northridge who did lose to Syracuse. I guess I give the Region 1 nod to Layton, only because they are better then the rest of averages.
Pretty much 5A is ALL average, even Alta, they have no O line, and no RB. No real power house this year in 5A.
