The entire bogus campaign to combat "man-made global warming" is a waste of money, based on bogus claims and junk science. It is no justified by a "consensus of scientists" but is a knee-jerk reaction to a very loud and rabid bunch of extremists and a few misled souls.

Worse, it is a needless burden on taxpayers at a time when the economy is dropping badly.

Stop this foolish waste NOW!

My only complaint with Gov. Jon Huntsman is his support of such programs. Way to go Wyoming! I hope that we can join you next year with a ranking of 49.

Amen amen and amen to the comments before. Global Warming as a man-made phenomenon is about as credible as phrenology and palm reading. 100 years from now it's going to be the punch line of 70% of jokes (the other 30% being SIKE!!!).

The earth is actually cooling and has been for 10 years now. There's more and more evidence that we're heading into a rather cool period. So stock up on warm clothing!!!

Prove it. I've seen the data that shows a clear warming trend. Also, if the earth is cooling, why has the melting in Greenland accelerated in the last 10 years? Also the polar ice at the North Pole have had two record years (last year and this year) for thinning ice and at current rates of melt, there will be an ice-free shipping route through the Arctic ocean in the near future. So once again, prove your assertions or your junk science. With that being said, I don't really think we need to save the planet. Whether global warming is man-made or not is not what concerns me. It is humanity's ability to peacefully adapt to the these changing times that worries me. The earth and life, in whatever form it takes, will be here for millions of more years. The earth has undergone many cataclysmic events in its past, and life has always survived. I just don't think humans are going to do that well when all is said and done. We might have big brains, but we sure do stupid things or take risks with the very existence of our species.

There has been no warming trend in the Southern hemisphere for the 30 years of satellite monitoring. The ice caps are not melting. The Arctic is freezing and the Antarctic increase in ice mass more than compensated for the brief normal summer melt in the north. There has been no warming trend in the Northern hemisphere since 1998 and all of the assumed warming in the last 30 years reversed itself in just the last year. See the UAH MSU for confirmation. CO2 induced warming only exists in primative computer models and Hollywood shockumentaries. The real world doesn't agree. Aaron is accurate, stock up on warm clothes.
Utah needs to be at the bottom of the list for alarm-based nonsense "action". It is a wise person who does nothing when no problem exists.

The planet will go through warming and cooling trends no matter what we do.

Gov Huntsman has fallen for this load of garbage, and we should vote him out. But give the UEA what they want and you get a pass on everything else.

Dont be fooled, this is all a way to redistribute wealth and power.

In late July, the Seattle Times front page story bore the headline, "Colder than Siberia." That day the high was 58 in Seattle, compared to 62 in Siberia. The Pacific Northwest in 2008 had;

2nd coldest April on record
Colder than average in May, June and July
Coldest August ever

The NW berry crop has been badly hampered by the cold weather. In Alaska, the ocean waters were so cold in May, June and July, the salmon didn't know to run upriver, causing that industry to be down over 50% this year.

It's not warming in the Northwest or many other areas, therefore it's not global. I doubt it's warming anywhere and if it is, I'd like to see it proven that it's man-made. Afterall, the temperature of Mars has steadily risen and there is no known form of life there.

I know our governor to be an intelligent person. So why has he jumped on board with this global warming non-science? Is he being duped, or is he just being a shrewd politician?

Either way, I have less respect for him.

I hope we come in last place where global warming nonsense is concerned. Let California take the lead in stupidity.

I found a great website that has stored daily satellite images taken of the melting ice cap dating back to 1980. It even lets you compare today's satellite image with almost any day for the past 30 years. Unfortunately, the Desnews won't post URL's so I can't give the web address, but if you google Daily Arctic Sea Ice, you will find it. At least I know that I have proof that global warming is real. If the earth wasn't warming up for the last 10,000 years, half of N. America would still be under ice. I am in agreement though that the causes of global warming are still our for debate.

I can't believe the ignorance of some posters on this topic who believe that we are entering an ice age and offer no proof of it. Oh well, I guess there are still a few people left who believe the earth is flat. Again, the satellite images are all I need to know that 90% of you on this forum are downright insane. It reminds of Shultz on the TV show Hoggan's Heroes, you know the guy who closes his eyes and says, "I seeeee nothinggggg."
