Just Play the Game | 7:39 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
BYU and Utah both have to win out until their Nov. 22nd game. A loss by either team and Boise State will jump them, and I can't stand Boise State. What tough teams are in the WAC? Fresno, who just lost to Hawaii? USU who lost to BYU, at home, by 20, as they scored 14 in the last quarter? Who else is there? Boise State?

Just play the game. Win, and keep on winning, especially tough games on the road, TCU, at Air Force in October or November can be brutally cold, and then at Utah, and everything will take care of itself.

A BCS game, even in the Rose Bowl, or against one of the mighty Big Least teams, is still a BCS bowl, and about 109 (119 D-1 teams minus 9 open spots minus the team playing) other teams would love to be there. Go Cougars. Just keep winning!!

I don't get it. Rankings, are best guesses. Fans have thier own opinion and guesses as well.

But for sure, Nov 22 will show who is best (at least on that day).

We have two teams to enjoy, with similar records.

Until the 22nd of Nov it is wishing and pure speculation. I still think the game is "IF" BYU wins, not when. Until then no one knows.

SoCalUtahFan,so you admit that BYU being in the top 10 is really bothering you? Let me help you. The human polls give lots of credit to BYU because of a little thing called respect. As much as Utah fans hate to admit it, BYU is the reason for the Bowl Alliance, whitch was later changed to the BCS. The big boys did not want another Mid-Major to win a NC. Don't forget that in 84 the Holiday bowl made offers to UW and OU to come play BYU. They turned it down for MONEY. That, to me, explains a lot.
As for the BCS rankings, the Harris poll and the coache poll each count for 1/3 of the BCS poll. The other 1/3 is not a compilation of the six computer polls. They throw out the high and the low and compile the remaining four. See, I can talk numbers too. The thing is, I don't care what any of the polls say. I am more concerned with the team I root for running the table. I would actually like to see the Utes pass BYU in the polls. It might just light a fire in the Cougars.

I predicted the Y would drop in the polls and I also predicted the U would rise. I also have maintained my position that the Utes will win out the rest of their games including the bowl game. Mark my words.

Advise to Cougars and Utes from the now senile Raiders owner, "Just win, Baby" See you in November.

OU deserves their ranking. BYU's schedule isn't even close to OU's. Texas this week, Kansas next. The Y's schedule doesn't even come close. GO SOONERS!

A national championship run is out of the question. i love BYU and would love to see BYU and Utah in a big time bowl game. But either team when placed up against a USC or Oklahoma or someone even close would get throttled.
re: boomer | 11:59 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
that is why OU is #1 and not #9
AZ Coug | 1:15 p.m. Oct. 6, 2008
BYU or Utah could win all their games by 1,000 points and neither of them would climb any higher than 3 or 4 because polls are polls, and they won't let a Non-BCS team anywhere near the Hallowed Championship Game. Especially not BYU. But this year's strong showing by the conference as a whole will help break down that barrier, and sometime in the future the current BCS system may become demonopolized.
Re Boomer... | 1:20 p.m. Oct. 6, 2008
I am sure you were saying the same things before your game against Boise State a couple years back. Anything can happen, so schedules really don't mean much do they.

Can you still defend the statue of liberty?

>>The SEC is good, >Both BYU and Utah would hold their own in the SEC.<<

Against some of the bottom feeders? Maybe? I highly doubt they would against Florida, Georgia, LSU, Bama, & Auburn year after year.

re: Typical Yewts | 5:26 p.m. Oct. 5, 2008

>>Are the Yewts so concerned with BYU that they have to read every article that talks about the Cougs. Cougs are #1. NUFF SAID!<<

3 questions; 1) Have U not heard of know the competition? 2) In what parallel universe is BYU #1 and what color is the sky there?

Bring it on!
Total Ute Fan | 10:20 p.m. Oct. 6, 2008
i just don't understand how BYU fans think they're better when they only play teams with losing records. it doesn't prove anything when you just schedual the worst teams possible...i guess whatever you have to do to achieve your "quest for perfection" hahaha but you forgot you had to play the runnin' UTES!!!!!
Fully Invested | 12:34 a.m. Oct. 7, 2008
Total Ute Fan,

We love playing the runnin' Utes, especially when they forget to run, jump, cover, defend, and tackle on the last drive of the game. When we "schedual" the worst teams possible? You mean like USU, UNLV, Colorado State, Wyoming, New Mexico, San Diego State, and Air Force. Oh, wait....
Total Ute Fan | 12:37 p.m. Oct. 7, 2008
Hey Fully Vested Suit,

Last year the Utes needed to add a game for 2008, they scheduled Michigan.

Last year the coogies needed to add a game for 2008,
they scheduled Northern Podunk something.

Enough said.
RE: Total Ute Fan | 7:19 p.m. Oct. 7, 2008
I would say that Northern Podunk something was better than Michigan this year.

Hey Total Idiot,

Last year the Yewts scheduled Weber State for 2008. What's your point? You seem like a bright guy....never mind.
TOTAL UTE FAN | 11:55 p.m. Oct. 7, 2008
Hey fully vested suit,

Your just another typical BYU fan, spouting off with out a clue as what is fact. Utah scheduled Weber before McBride even was the coach there. Try winning a team with a winning record before you go proclaiming to the world how the cooglets will crush Oklahoma in the National Championship Game. (How soon you forget how you needed a fluke call to beat a 0-5 Washington team on the road. Remember, that's how they win any close game.)
Stop | 2:36 p.m. Oct. 8, 2008
This gets soooooooooooooooooo old. We will just wait and see what happens. Its going to be tough for either team to go undefeated. Really tough.

That being said. GO UTES
Fully Invested | 12:23 a.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Total Ute Fan, Don't put words in my mouth. I don't think for one second that BYU would go to the NC game and crush Oklahoma. Never said that. The only people on these boards saying that are the Ute trollers.

Former Ute posters have been claiming that Utah scheduled Weber State because of McBride. So which is it; McBride, or you wanted an easy win.

I did not agree with the call on Locker. However the blocked kick was for real, and according to the UW kicker, it would have been blocked from the 15. And replays clearly show that the UW coach wanted to go for one before he knew about the penalty. Several people who went to the game have also verified this.

BTW Utah has only beat one team with a winning record. See if you can figure out which team that is.
Who cares | 1:17 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Nobody should really care where bYu or utah is ranked in the polls. As long as they're both top 12 then nov 22 will be a play in for a BCS game. Until then. Why care about BCS rankings? Why care about AP Coaches or Harris polls? Just hope Utah can stay undefeated. I'm not worried about my Cougars.
