And Rome???? What a great, great thing. I am positive not all will be ecstatic over a Temple in Rome, but this is the will of God and will be a huge blessing for alot of Saints from not a few countries...

What wonderful news......the gospel is rolling forth into all the world. May
many more temples
be announced in the near future. We are greatly
blessed to have 128 temples dot the earth....and
with others announced and under construction at
this time...we are forunate to see these miracles occur in our lifetime. The gospel is true.....and the Lord will continue to bless us through our faithfulness.

I find more interesting the announcement that a temple will be built in the
greater Kansas City area. While we all know that it isn't THAT temple, it
is still good to see the church come back to Jackson County in a more
significant way than ever before.

The Lord do keeps His promises! Pres Hinckley told the members in Rome a couple
of years ago that if they will establish a Stake, a Temple will follow. It is
happening. Isn't it GREAT!!!! Thanks all you missionaries and mission
presidents that served here.

Like other saints in the Philadelphia area, I have prayed for a temple in
Philadelphia. But I also asked the Lord that if He had to choose between a
temple in Phila or one in Italy, then please choose Italy first. Having served
my mission in the Italy Catania mission and having Italian parents and
ancestors, I desired that my Italian LDS sisters and brothers should know the
blessing of a nearby temple. When both temples were announced today, I shed
tears of happiness and gratitude.

How wonderful! I live in Missoui (Kansas City Area) and would find it a
wonderful blessing to have a temple even closer than St. Louis. This is a
blessing to those members that can't travel far to attend the temple.

I heard the news and started to cry. I served my mission in Italy in the mid
70's and could not have imagined the possibility of a temple being built
there one day. The Italian people are being prepared for a new spiritual
awakening and the temple will help so much. I am so happy that I could help in
laying the groundwork for such a great blessing.

Rome. What a wonderful blessing for the members in that area of the world. And
Philadelphia, their closest temple has been DC or New York, it will be great for
them to have the blessings of a temple!

Wow, this is exciting news. There are such wonderful LDS members in the Rome
mission, and a temple would just truly show the stregnth of the church. What a
blessing for these people who have to travel very far to do temple service.

The announcement of the temple in the greater Kansas City area should have
caused the gasp, because a temple will finally be coming to the area around
Independence where the Saints were so bitterly persecuted.

Wow, was that a totally exciting announcement or what??!! While I am so excited
for those I know and love in Argentina and Philadelphia-- (oh, wait til those
non-members feel the un-explained desire to attend a Temple Open House!!) and
those I don't know in Kansas City and Calgary, the announcement of Rome was
an historic moment!

It's wonderful to see that the aggressive temple building started by
President Hinckley continues onward. This is truly the Lord's work, not the
desires of any one president of the church. These temples will be such a
blessing to the members nearby, and surely church growth will follow as faithful
members increase their temple attendance.

I too had tears in my eyes when the temple sites were announced. My own gasp was
for both Kansas City AND Rome. Those are both incredible sites, and in places
where many people never thought we'd have them.

Gratitude and awe just begin to expess the feelings I have about these temple
announcements!! I am shocked as are so many about the Rome temple. I never
thought I would be alive to see this come to pass. I hope to visit and worship
there one day.

If the Kansas City Temple is not going to be in Jackson County (my first choice)
then I seriously hope it goes in the Shoal Creek Area!!! We have been waiting
for this for a very long time!!!! I grew up in Shoal Creek and there are so
many wonderful members there. I can't wait to hear where it is going to be
at.

Having lived in the Kansas City area for nearly 20 years, we are thrilled. We
still have 2 sons who live in that area. Also we are moving to the Philadelphia
area this week, and was just released as ordinance workers in the Memphis
Temple. We also know what it is to be part of a new temple, having served on the
St. Paul Temple Committee. What a great thrill for evertone everywhere.

But the Pope is. After the recent direction of the Catholic hierarchy to close their records to members of the LDS Church who are doing Family History research--maybe this will help them focus on and confront their fears of us.

Isn't it wonderful to see the great things the church is doing. Slowly but
surely the grand temple blessings are going to all corners of the world. I hope
we can all do our part to see that these steps can continue. It is one of my
favorite parts of conference to anticipate the announcements of new temples.
The messages that we hear are super. Today's first session only confirms
this.

temple will also serve adjacent countries where the Church is growing, such as
Slovenia, Croatia, Albania and Greece.
By the way, it takes 3 to 4 hours from Milan (the closest italian city to Switzerland) to Bern with the fastest trains.
The new high speed train in Italy that will open in 2009 will connect Milan to Rome in 3 hrs and 10'. But members in Southern Italy and the islands whose travel time is upwards of 15 hours or more to get to Switzerland will be able to travel to Rome in only a few hours.

A waste of money to put a temple in Rome? When has building a temple or a house
of the Lord ever been a waste of money? Are you serious man? You never know
what effects something like that is going to have. If they are building one
there... the work is moving well enough or soon will. The Lord has a plan and
it is His will. I am very happy and excited for the news we received. Temples
are literally starting to dot the earth and the work is moving to the 4
quarters. We truly are seeing a miracle. It doesn't matter if this temple
in Kansas area is the one in Jackson County... because we know one will
eventually be built there. It would be exciting but that time just might not be
yet.

The church owns property in Liberty Missouri. that is near the Shoal Creek
Area, and right next to Jackson County.
But I could also see them doing it more on the south end, That would help topeka out too. Maybe even Witchita.
So my guess would be in Wyndotte county or Johnson County in Kansas or Clay County in Missoui. But yes if they do Jackson oh Uhaul here we come.

Liberty is in the greater Kansas City area and it would be cool to have a temple
near the original "prison temple." Of course, I don't know
anything, but it is sort of fun to think about Independence, Liberty, Lees
Summit, etc.

I remember attending the Bern temple during an excursion of Saints from Southern
Italy. That was a delightful experience to see whole families make the trip.
While some attended a session, others organized games and prepared meals for the
children. I am sure they will love having a temple in Rome much closer to their
homes in the toe and heel of the "boot."

I rejoice for the announcement of the temple in Rome, along with the members of
Church in Italy, the Italian LDS (like myself) living around the world, the
thousands of missionaries who have served in Italy and all those who love and
appreciate Italy.

Coming from Philadelphia, we are all very excited. A group of us have children
that play on the same soccer team, and so we did not hear the announcement. But
when word broke, several of us shed tears of gratitude and excitement.

I agree the gasp was for the Greater Kansas City area. There's the 1700
acres in the Shoal Creek/Birmingham Basin area north of KC (Caldwell County)
that are already under development as a mixed housing and business. There's
also the 8000 acres in Jackson County in the city of Lee's Summit (just
south of Independence). It has great access to I-470, but it's such a huge
tract of empty land that there's not much infrastructure around there
yet.
Obviously they have some details to work out, but the land is there.

I am so excited about the Rome Italy Temple that I cannot think of anything else
today. I served a mission in Italy just after the formation of the first stake
in 1981 and the saints there have come a long way. Land was bought in Rome
several years ago for a possible temple or stake center and I knew that an
announcement was close following the formation of 3 new stakes in Italy
recently. Anyone else wanting to know more about the history of the LDS church
in Italy can visit the Bella Sion website.

I believe the temple in the KC area will be in Johnson County. Probably Olathe.
There has been talk of that for some time. But I live in Liberty, so I would be
thrilled if it is closer.. I own a house in Independence that I am trying to
sell... so if anyone feels inspired to pack up and head out.....let me know!
