byu | 6:27 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
at this rate max hall and half the offense wont even play to the end of the half
Anonymous | 6:35 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
I hope Utah State makes mincemeat out of the Cougars. I know it probably will never happen but it;s a fun thought. Those old men that play for the Y are just puffed up and need some of their gas eliminated.

Wow!!! what an impressive win this will be --winning over no 121 team in Sagarin rating.

Congratulation, my little brothers!!!
GoodGuyGary | 7:03 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
SoCalUtahFan, you are such a big brother. Impressive or not, we still need to win the game. Your post shows how smart you are.
SoCalUtahFan | 7:11 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008

GoodGuyGary, I just wanted to be the first to admit how impressive this win is --so that we will not have to have tons of posts from BYU fans saying the same. Hahaha!
Don't take me wrong. We want BYU to remain unbeaten until Nov 22.
Utah fan | 7:21 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Didn't you guys play USU also? How is this game any different than your win?
Dude | 7:23 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Maybe all the other teams will just cancel the rest of the season after this and anoint BYU national champions ? I mean who can compete with wins over Northern Iowa and Washington ?
GoodGuyGary | 7:26 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Most BYU fans cheer for Utes last ngiht, and tongiht, sigh...

By the way, there is no score in 2nd quarter? Something wrong....
Re: SoCal | 7:30 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Didn't Utah play this same team a couple of weeks ago?
The SoCal Dude | 7:46 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Yeah, I think Utah did play these guys. But they let them score more. If he wants to do comparisons.......
GoodGuyGary | 7:55 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
OK, 27:0, give me 2 more TDs and another shut out, I will be happy.
GoodGuyGary | 7:59 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Max Hall looks a little bit rust tongiht...2 intercepts already and only 1 TD???
Ute Fan | 8:02 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
As a Ute fan, I'm gonna come out and separate myself from the morons (on both sides) who constantly berate each other, bantering over weak schedules and past wins/losses, whatever. BYU has done very well, and along with U are doing great things for the conference. I hope they continue.
But they don't need my help tonight.
Go Utah!
GoodGuyGary | 8:22 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Ute Fan at 8:02 p.m.: Thanks for being resonable!

OK, need one more TD and a shut out, I will have a whole week of joy!
GeeTown | 8:22 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Got money on BYU. GO BYU!
Sam | 8:28 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Hmmmmmm, BYU must still be on break. Utah St. Is not going to roll over, thats for sure. BYU will not be ranked in the top 10 come sunday i can see.
GO GOUGS, just get the win. eh!
Bob in line | 8:29 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
C-L-E-A-R-L-Y BYU is NOT a top 10 team in the nation.

They are good but lack the final level of discipline to smack down one of the worst teams in the nation. BYU will win but should drop in the polls by several spots after this very weak game. Very weak.

While the score board will show BYU scored 24 points in the first half, only 10 of them came from the offense.

At this point BYU should be thrilled to even get serious consideration for a BCS game.

Oh well, at least we can look forward to some good games. Fun to dream for a little while.
GoodGuyGary | 8:29 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
No holding call on the USU TD run? Great.
Sam | 8:32 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
BYU is NOT playing like a top 10 team. They better get there act together. Good thing its in the 4th, I do believe the Aggies could come back and win this with another quarter. BYU looks much worse than Utah did last night.
NevadaCoug | 8:35 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Hall has been forcing balls into double and triple coverage, thus the two picks. Receivers have been dropping balls. The run game isn't as good as it should be because the O-line isn't opening holes. In fact, they look like they are standing around half the time. And the defense, for some reason, is giving the Aggies the corner for the run game. Now that the Aggies have scored a TD because the Cougars didn't defend the corner, will they finally start doing so? Mendenhall has to be fuming.
Sam | 8:40 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
BYU better hope this quarter ends pretty fast. I see an upset well underway. Wow, man, what is BYU thinking?
GoodGuyGary | 8:41 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Man, BYU is sleeping...
Bob in line | 8:43 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
It is only getting worse for a top 10 team. This is just pathetic. BYU is a great team that clearly cannot focus as needed.

Remove the two defensive touchdowns and it is what? 20-14.

And certainly NO BYU fan can compare Utah State to Oregon State.

BYU is good but I'm guessing overrated. Good team but no BCS for us.
GoodGuyGary | 8:44 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Sam, did you say...upset...um....by USU?
Anonymous | 8:52 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Some interesting calls by the officials tonight.
Sam | 9:02 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Well, You got to hand it to Utah St. They played very well tonight! Lets just hope this was a rare bad game for the cougs. They have two weeks to correct before TCU. Good job Aggs, you played with the most heart tonight!
Bad showing | 9:03 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
We're going to drop a few spots in the polls this week for sure.
Ho Hum Cougs | 9:03 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Bob in line...

The cougars played fairly lackluster in week 1 versus Northern Iowa as well. Hold your contempt for another week when BYU plays a team they actually care about.

BYU is playing lazy and uninspired and they're still destroying the Aggies on the scoreboard.
Bob in line | 9:03 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
And now BYU gets their field goal blocked?

I'm a diehard BYU fan, which means we need to be honest. BYU is NOT a top ten team. Depending on how tomorrow works out BYU will be somewhere near the middle of 10-20. I would not be surprised at all if Utah jumps BYU in the polls.

Oh the joy of a team and quarterback that spent too much time reading the newspaper articles about their greatness.

Take care of business, which they have not tonight.
If I Remember Correctly.... | 9:06 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Utes beat 'em by a lot more.
SoCalUtahFan | 9:07 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008

To: The SoCal Dude | 7:46PM,

Yeah, We played them.
And yes, we let them score 10.
And yes, BYU is more generous, letting USU score 14 so far.

(I did not really want to keep score)
let me guess | 9:08 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
all you BYU,UTE and Mtn west fans think just because Utah beat OSU that means they must be able to beat USC right? That's the way you guys thinks.
Go Cougs | 9:11 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Looks like BYU will barely beat the refs in this one. Hopefully we will get to play USU next year.
Really???? | 9:12 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
RE: Ho Hum Cougs: BYU plays lazy and uninspired when they don't care about a team?!?! Wow. That doesn't sound like a top ten team to me. Why don't they care about USU? They really should care about each and every team they play. That can come back to make you look kind of silly.... (Oh, and by the way, I wouldn't necessariily say they are destroying the Aggies....they are struggling a little, I think).
Rich | 9:14 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
This is funny. I love seeing the BYU starters getting schooled by one of the worst teams in the country.
I think it is safe to say that Utah and BYU are equal.
I cant wait for Nov. 22, the Utes can play when it counts, and Pony Mendenhall has no class.

The game is over and BYU is kept it's starters in. Are you kidding me. Pony is thinking about BCS and he should be Thinking about TCU and Utah.
BYU is OVER-RATAED
If it's bad game... | 9:16 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008

it must be the refs.
Interesting theory.

SoCalUtahFan
Top ten????? | 9:17 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Seriously? Top 10?!?!? Wow... Just wow. You guys know that utah beat them 58-10, right? My goodness. . .
If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: Overrated is an incredible understatement for the cougars this year. I sincerely hope the polls reflect this obvious fact this week.
Bob in line | 9:17 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
BYU is still a really good team. We should temper our expectations after this game.

Champions don't slip up to this degree. I mentioned Oregon State for the simple reason that trying to compare USC falling to Oregon State is not the same as this performance.

We will have a pretty good season. I'm guessing we just lost all of the love we had nationally.
GoodGuyGary | 9:18 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Even I have to admit, it was an ugly win...but still, a win is a win, and by 20 pts...am I asking too much?
Bronco looks like | 9:18 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
he is going to cry. BYU is the most overrated team in the country. Look for a drop of about 4 spots in the polls. Watch out BYU When you start playing teams that have a WINNING record you will be humbled.
WOW! | 9:19 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Are people so stupid that they trash a team for a 20 point win?? that is when you know you have a arrived when you have to beat teams by 50 points and hold them scoreless
to WOW- | 9:22 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
mmm- Did you watch the game? They were fortunate to win by 20- It's a good thing the aggies gave the cougs a few gifts off turnovers in the first half- They did not play like a top 10 team and will drop a bit-
Ho Hum Some More | 9:22 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
RE: Really????

Since you are the expert on what is and what is not a top ten team, please make sure you vote accordingly in this weekend's poll.

I'm not saying they shouldn't care about USU, but it was obvious they didn't.

34-14 is not the score of a game in which the winning team "struggled." BYU is much better than they played tonight. Their offense was lazy and they still spanked the Aggies.
Where is the class and | 9:23 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
discipline we have come to expect from the Cougs? Looks at all the penalties and unsportsmanlike calls. This is not a sign of a Bronco Mendenhall team. If we are not careful we will start believing that WE are a top ten team. IT IS NOT ABOUT YOU!! BYU is much bigger than some of these penalties and mental lapses. I love the Cougs but am wary of the "pride cycle" that coach always refers to. REMAIN HUMBLE!
RE: WOW | 9:26 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Well, when you're ranked #8/7 in the country you ought to be able to take care of one of the worst teams a lot better than BYU did tonight. If you're struggling against USU, then look to be dismantled by teams like Air Force and TCU, not to mention the thrashing you can expect on Nov 22. Just giving you a heads up.
Bring it on Utes | 9:27 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
OK Utes, let loose with your excuses about how much better your game was last night. BYU looked pathetic tonight, but at least they put the game away first and then quit playing. At least their win was never in doubt after the first series of the game. The Utes couldn't say that last night.
The Sky is Faliing!!! | 9:27 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Oh my goodness!!! BYU didn't win good enough! They are so overrated! BYU should have won a lot better than that!

They ONLY scored USU scoreless through three quarters and won by 20 points?!!! The season is OVER!!!

What will we do now?!!
RE wow | 9:28 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
This is not ANY team. This is a TOP TEN TEAM playing one of the WORST teams in the Nation. Look for the voters to "trash" the Cougs in the Polls.

And By your standards BYU HAS NOT ARRIVED! They beat Wash on a miracle and Only beat lowly USU by 20. Need I remind you that Utah beat these guys by 48 and DID NOT leave their starters in the whole game??
Bill from South Dakota | 9:28 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Easily BYU's worst game to date. I hate bye weeks! I was watching the game with 20 seconds left... BYU up by 20 yet it was still intense! What is it about these USU games? BYU was definitely rusty. Max seemed to be forcing things etc... Great comeback USU. If only things had gone differently in the first half this could have been an upset!

USU has some athletes who have great speed. If Borel (spelling) can figure out how to hold onto the ball USU is going to become a good team.
