This is another big get for BYU. Hopefully they will be able to run the table on the other 4 and 5 star recruits they are waiting on.

Tough luck Utah losing a favored son to your biggest rival.

Good Luck Richard!
He's a very standup young man who has a great head on his shoulders. He'll work his tail off. And it won't surprise me if he ends up playing at the LB position. Just the way he's built, and the way he can move, makes him a Potential Stud on Defense! But I know he wants to play TE. Maybe that'll change in time!

Notice that the bigggest local recruits are being recruited by talent rich LSU? Wonder why? Sounds like Gary Crowton territory.

2009 Recruiting Coming Together | 1:31 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Richard will be BYU's 4th 4-star recruit this year.

Xavier Su'a-filo would be the 4th and there are still 3 other 4-Star recruits that are looking good for BYU plus Manti Te'o who is a 5-star recruit and the #1 strong side linebacker in the nation for the class of 2009 that may end up at BYU.

They also have a number of 3-star players already committed.

BYU could end up with a top 20 recruiting class for 2009 and don't even get me started on 2010 (could be a top 10 recruiting class with the #1 QB, an LDS kid from Washington State looking good and the top linebacker in S. California and top 5 LB in the nation considering BYU as well as Bronson Kafusi of Timpview which is one of the top D-linemen in the country already commited to BYU)

Get ready Ute fans, you guys better try and beat us this year, cause it won't be happening again for the foreseeable future! ;)

The Washington kid just can't quite make up for this loss. Richard had offers from LSU, Tennessee and Miami (yep, tight end U)and still chose the Cougs over all of them (and us). Richard was a long-time U fan too. Really hurts right up in there, ya know. Hating life right now despite the bad PI call we got to beat Oregon State.

This Kid is the real deal and as good as a HS TE gets! X is the same as an OL. Coach Anderson has some more Florida and Virgina talent too. Who would not want to be part of what Bronco's got going in Provo? Look for nearly all 4 and 5 star recruits in Utah to go the same route. America's most powerful offense is turning heads and changing minds.

BYU fans can't help themselves today can they? First, they overtake the Utah v. Oregon St. recap blog and sully it with their many tiresome complaints. Then, they can't help but take not so subtle jabs at Utah's recruiting efforts in an article about their own team's recruit. I guess the obsession with rival team label doesn't just apply to the red fans anymore does it?

Great job, Bronco, in his recruiting efforts. However, so far, Kyle's "inferior" recruiting efforts have proved more than able in terms of competition and future growth. Congrats, but you BYU fans aren't making any of us worried with your boasting.

Great Get. | 2:57 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
This was a great get for all cougar fans. I have known richard through football for a number of years and in all the games that i have been in with him, he has always been one of the most respectable young men you will find. Every game in have with him, he has always been a class act. Thanks Richard, and welcome to BYU. Also, the defense might have a spot open for you. HEHE

Why do you have to hate on Utah? Utah will be just fine. They are building a stellar squad. The Washington kid is going to really turn some heads up there next year, you watch. He's playing with a stress fracture in his foot for the last two weeks and probabaly for the rest of the year.

Congrats BYU, but keep doing your thang Utah.

Getting overly excited about recruiting is silly. Yes, it's a good pick up, and hopefully he'll succeed. But it's too hard to know if high school success will translate into college success. Teams like UW, Notre Dame, Colorado, etc always have top-20 recruting classes, yet none of those schools have been in the top 25 in awhile. Remember when Ben Olsen was the #1 recruit in the country?
