It's just pathatic that you gain confidence from that performance and than deduce that BYU plays bad. But I expect that from the worst fans in the world.

GO COUGARS
Dan | 4:48 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Excluding the last two minutes, Utah did not impress me at all durring the third and fourth quarters. They certainly did not play like the supposed 15th best team in the nation. Also, the first two point attempt would have been impossible to catch regardless of the call.
I don't think we deserved that win but its nice to have.
Coug in Mass | 5:21 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Well done Utah.

For everyone whining about the officials, they were PAC-10 officials. They always are.

For those of you whining that the OSU coaching staff is stupid, well that's part of the game.

For those of you complaining about the OSU kicker, Louie plays for Utah.

And especially for those of you who think or thought that the PAC-10 is a superior conference, consider that if BYU and Utah were in the PAC-10, the championship would be settled in Utah this year.

Nice comeback in the last quarter.....reminds me of a slew of BYU games. The close ones are always underrated... especially between BYU and Utah. This was a good win for the Utes and the MWC.

Great to see that the possible greatest dream game in MWC history is still alive. I wasn't sure there for a while. Ute defense is solid and Johnson had the ability to reach deep and come up with a way to win.
Congratsulations on a fine comeback. Keep the ball rolling to Nov 22nd.

Let em talk | 5:54 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
The victory over BYU in November will only be sweeter cuz the zoobies have nothing else going on in their lives except for BYU football. When their team fails, then they fail. Let em talk, Let em talk. Keep proving to us that you have to continually post on Utah stories to compensate for your feelings of inadequacy and inferiority. I LOVE IT!!

Besides, like a whiny 3 year old girl, they think crying gets them attention, only to learn that the attention also gets them in trouble cuz everyone sees when they screw up.

RE:Laughing | 5:55 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
You do recall OSU just beat the #1 team in the nation. WSU, well they haven't done anything this year. It is nice to know that you can have a real bad game and still pull it out. Wake up boy!

It's been a long time since Coug Fans got this excited over a Ute victory, but this was AWESOME!! What a finish. The heart of Champions. Who cares whether the call in the end zone was correct. It drives me crazy when people attach a win or a loss to one call. Forget about it! The players still have to put it together. The refs don't execute the plays surrounding the calls. The Utes showed a whole lot of grit and determination in the final two minutes so they deservedly won. Great win and an ending for the ages. Savor it.

Go Cougs!!
nice try... | 6:24 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
I love how ute fans use the logic that they won by 3 so their two point converstion/bad call didn't matter. Do you really believe that oregon st would have been throwing the ball with under a minute to go if they had been up by two rather than tied. They would have run the clock out and you never would have had a chance to kick that field goal. Your logic is a little flawed. Still a good win for you, but without that call, you never would have had a chance to win it.

i find it funny that coug fans compare this win by the utes to theirs in seattle vs uw?!! hello, oregon st BEAT down USC last week!! they are far superior than uw and have a chance to win the pac-10 based on how they have been playing the past two weeks...osu could mess around and beat the cougs in provo...

I see I am late to the party, and I didn't get to see or listen to the game, but good job UTES! You did what it took and got it done.

I was just reviewing the stats, and the Beavers had you, statistically... until you get to the kicking game. Missed PAT, missed field goal and shorter kick offs and punts. Beavers were average, your guy was stellar.

Note to cougs: bottle up Asatia, cover Casteel and keep the kicker off the field.
Tom in South Carolina | 6:40 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Yes I stayed up late on the East Coast to catch the end of the game. Would all you whiney fans on both sides just SHUT UP!!! If you want to say something about the game, great, but the oneupsmanship is ridiculous. I would like to find out why the Utes are not running that last 2 minute offense for the entire game. Come on Andy Ludwig - spread means spread - not your stupid Oregon plays with the QB under center. The offense has some terrible problems. Also, I noticed 2 horse collar tackles by OSU that were not called - does the MWC not know about that rule change? It's funny that the PAC 10 crew last week in Corvalis called it a couple of times on USC.
Carolina BYU grad | 6:44 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
I was thrilled to see Utah beat the team that BEAT Southern Cal. I want BYU and Utah to play as undefeated teams. That just builds the conference. My stupid friend always asks me, "what good team does BYU play?" Beside reminding him about handing UCLA its worst loss in 79 years, I'll tell him one good team we have to play is Utah, then add again for emphasis, "who beat the team that BEAT the #1 team in the country."

I thought the pass interference was a good call. I'm glad it was a good call, or Utah would've gotten the same crap BYU got after Washington, which was also a good call, just not popular. Besides, the Utah field goal would've won the game anyway, just like BYU might've blocked the PAT anyway or won in overtime. Let that one rest!

I don't talk smack like some Utah and BYU fans. I know Utah is good and November 22 is going to be a tough game for both teams.

But STUPID comments must be addressed, like UTES!! comment about BYU playing Utah State. Dude, what planet are you on?!?! I can't believe your team let them score!!
BOB | 6:44 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
OSU handed the win to the utes with poor play calls, going for two way to early in the game, then just trying to run it at the end against a very good run defense. Oh and don't forget the worst kick off letting the Utes start at the 40 not making the earn that field postion. A terrible punt giving the utes good field position as well and then basically just stopped playing. OSU coach may very well be on the hot seat after that mess even if they did previously beat the #1 team.
Ute play calling on offense drives me nuts, too much trickery and misdirection and too many runs by the QB.
SoCalUtahFan | 6:49 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008

to all my little brothers,

Don't be so jealous that Utah just won an good game against a team that knocked USC off number-1.
Your big brother here is willing to go on the record to say that OSU will beat UCLA and Washington even though those games will be on the road.

Ciao.
BYUite | 6:50 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Great win over a solid opponent. If BYU doesn't beat Utah State by 50 with the 6th string in by the fourth quarter, I think Utah should be higher ranked than my beloved BYU. Hard for me to say that but BYU has played no one though they've beaten the snot out of those "no ones". Good win Utes. Until November......

I was at the game and I have come to realize that Johnsen lacks confidence and appears scared to make any mistakes. Ludwig needs to leave Utah after the season. Our backup needs some playing time because Johnsen still acts like he's injured.

I'm a Beaver fan and I have to say that this was a great game. Both teams were very well matched up. It all came down to kicking. UofU kicker was spot on and our Kicker SUCKED. I hate to see the Beavs lose but those things happen. Now for all of you Trash Talking Utah people. Get over yourselves!!! You people are rude drivers and I guess it's the same for football. It's a game Utahns. Have fun in the Las Vegas bowl playing against the 4th place Pac10 team. The way the Beavs are playing this year we might see you again.

Bob 2 | 7:15 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
This was an amazing game. If you really were watching the game instead of looking for faults (the debate was better for that) you could see that Utah stunk it up for 3 quarters against a very tough team and then came back and found a way to win. Mark my words, this team is turning into a team we will remember fondly for many years. And the game on Nov. 22 will be one for the ages.

Utah Defense: A
__held Rogers and the OSU offense in check

Utah Special Teams: A-
__would have been an A except the punt team allowed a couple of punts that should have been downed inside the 10 to dribble into the endzone; the Sakoda is money

Utah Offense: C-
__was a D until the final 2 minutes; Johnson was horrible most of the night and nearly cost Utah the game with his interception and fumble

Utah Overall: B+

The Utes won the game and stayed unbeaten thanks to their defense and special teams.
Ute Fan | 7:31 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
All I got to say is that BYU barely beat a Washington team that is by far worse than Oregon State. Oregon State is a good team and it showed when they took down USC.

Good Job Utes!!
Come On Ute Fan | 7:40 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
What are you doing Ute Fan, rushing the field against Oregon State? Watching Ute Fan rush the field made me feel a little embarrassed for the Mountain West.

You rush the field if you beat a top 5 team not Oregon State. Come on Ute Fan pull it together. If you beat BYU when they are ranked in the top 5 at the end of the season you have my permission to rush the field.
Lucky Utes | 7:44 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
That was luckier than BYU's win in Washington. Thanks to the refs.
Finally a conference! | 7:49 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Our conference has been the ugly sister forever. Not this season. I'm a BYU fan, but I always cheer for Utah (unless they are playing BYU). It was great to see the team pull out the victory. This is excellent for the whole conference. If BYU and Utah can remain unbeaten, they will both continue to rise in the rankings and the victor will have a shot a BCS game. If Utah had lost last night, The big game wouldn't be as big a deal nationally.

So kudos to Utah. I'm looking forward to the big game that I hope will provide more than in state bragging rights.
grindcro | 7:53 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Great win. Let's hope that BYU & Utah both keep focused & stay undefeated. I live in SEC country - the hate between Utah & BYU fans is worse than what you see among SEC fans. Even though it's in both Utah & BYU's interests for the other to win and move up in the rankings, each side still wants the other to lose each week. People - if UT and BYU are undefeated when they play there's a decent chance the winner will go to the championship game. And winning there would be the first real national championship for a Utah school - quite an achievement.

Ok, for all the comments that say the utefans were out of line running onto the field after the game byu fans shouldn't be taking at all when they chant"BCS" after every win. Face it zoobies were are single handedly giving your SOS credibility without us you would be worse than hawaii in terms of SOS.

So come on cougars act like you have been to the BCS before. wait until the last game which you won't win by the way before you start talking.
WhoAmISir | 7:58 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Headline: Johnson almost wins game for Oregon State Yes a Win is a Win but Brian Johnson continues his give aways. An interception 6 points. A fumble 6 points. 12 of 28 points scored by Oregon State are attributed to poor judgment of Johnson, the score should have been 31 16. Ludwig wasnt the problem. Utahs offense and their Senior quarterback are very suspect. Johnson dont plan on playing at next level you can barely play at this level. Thank goodness for a stout defense that was on the field way too long and King Louie!
HappyontheMountain | 7:58 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
I'm only a Ute fan when we play BYU. Other than that, I cheer for the MWC. We have to keep in mind who our real enemies are-- those who doubt that we can play as well as other teams. Haven't you ever seen Les Miserables? When the little people fight...

How many points did we get off of that call? - 2
How many points did we win by? - 3

Utes would have won anyway.

Good Job Utes!!!
To bailout and all myopic BYU... | 8:03 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
fans. Who are you guys to be complaining about a PI call? You won the game against Utah in 2006 because of two PI calls which were both much more questionnable then the one Utah got last night. Even ESPN said on their Sportscenter wrapup that the receiver was mauled and it was the right call. Not sure what game you were watching.

As for storming the field, that had little to do with the fact the win came against a 2-3 OSU team. It was the improbable way in which it happened and preserved the opportunity for a unbeaten season. The emotion to win that game after almost all of us in the stadium thought it was over was the reason for storming the field.

At least the goal posts didn't come down. That will happen in November when Utah beats BYU taking the BCS berth why you whiners cry your in your milk.
Charging the field? | 8:05 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
This just proves how stupid UTE fans are! Rushing the field after beating the 5th place team in the Pac 10...a team that is 2-3 and not ranked? WOW! Good one Ute fans!
Little Bro. | 8:06 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
"Little Brother Syndrome" is alive and well at the U. Most Ute fans have a NEED to compare what they have done to what BYU has done. Why is that?

Classy act rushing the field when you top-20 ranked Utes barely beat an OSU team that has been HORRIBLE on the read this year. What a bunch of hypocrites!

Great win for Utah, but if not for horrible coaching decisions on the part of the Oregon State Coaches and a bad kicker, they would have lost. The coaches insistence on getting that first point back cost OSU the game.

However, I will never shed a tear for a PAC-10 team. I am happy to see the MWC's dominance of the PAC-10 continue!

Can't wait until 11/22 where we will finally find out what the Utes are really made of. I think the cup is more on the half-empty side, so BYU wins 35 - 24.

Go Cougars!

Ha, like they have the past two years? That's a good one. I know it's way old to hear "Harline" and "Collie" comments but you invite such reminders when you get so arrogant!

Oh, and good win last night Utes! I thought you were going to blow it there for about 3 7/8ths quarters. Let's not have the November 22nd hype go up in flames!
Cougarman | 8:09 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Dear Utes,

Good job and congrats on your win last night. I'm sure that the people who said BYU beat Washington because of the penalty against Washington will say the same thing about your 2-point conversion attempt last night (the first time you tried it, and drew the penalty). I'm sure people will say you got lucky. But in the end, it all comes down to winning or losing. Way to keep your wits about you. See you in November. We'll let the winner there talk all they want.

Sincerely,
Cougarman
Overrated | 8:14 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Leave it to the MWC officials to toss a game to the home conference team. Obviously not pass interference...game over. Sorry, but let's call it like it really was. Final Score: OSU 28, Utah 26. That was the real score from that game. You won't always have those refs to bail you out when you start playing the other conference teams.
Where was the domination | 8:15 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Utah should have dominated this game at home against an opponent from the weak PAC 0. Utah's defense was great. Their special teams, especially Sakoda, outstanding. But Utah's offense is not Top 25 caliber. Fumbles, interceptions, poorly thrown passes, poor decision making, poor play calling, and just plain sloppy and erratic. An 80-yard return to the OSU 15-yard line, and all Utah could manage was a field goal? Gimme a break. That's pathetic.

Utah got lucky on their last touchdown drive that Oregon State kicked it short and gave Utah possession at their own 40. The way Utah's offense had played most of the game, especially in the second half, it's doubtful Johnson could have engineered a long scoring drive. Starting on their own 40 allowed Utah to move into scoring position in just a couple of plays and put Oregon State's defense on their heels.

Oregon State's horrible clock management on their final possession gave Utah just enough time to move into field goal range for Mr. Money.

I'm not sure Utah would have been able to pull off an overtime win with their spotty offense.

Nice win for Utah, but a Top 15 team SHOULD have dominated OSU.
Cougs Rule! | 8:21 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Well, the Utes get lucky again! Nice call at the end on the pass interference. Why Oregen State didn't just kick extra points througout the game I cannot figure out. Oregon State played a better game, but it will be even sweeter in November when Byu beats Utah 59-0. I love the Ute fans who say BYU has not played anyone this year when they just beat an unranked team on a last second field goal. Way to storm the field after beating an unranked team. Pretty lame!
RockOn | 8:24 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Good job Utes. Do try to keep 11-0 possible without so many last minute heroics. You won't get away with it against TCU.

And all you can say is "why der so many zoobs on our artical that was about us" Please Yoot trolls are rampant on BYU message boards...welcome to a little hype. And why does it seem like Cougar fans are 10 to 1 against Ute fans in this article?? Because in actuality there are 10 Cougars for every toothless Yoot out there.

Most BYU fans are classy people. Unfortunatly there are a few ignorant, arrogant BYU fans who make up the majority of people who get on here to post. Please stop giving BYU fans a bad name. Utah won. They have a good team. Their win against Oregon State was no more of a bailout than BYU against Washington. BYU has a good team as well. It will be a great game come November. The game last night does not make any of us, regardless of our allegiances, any better or worse. It was fun to watch Utah win and hopefully we can all enjoy the seasons both BYU and Utah are having.
That was amazing! | 8:31 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
I still don't see how they fit so many goofy lookers in one stadium. I would put $100 down that says last night there were enough Utah fans you might have had a full set of teeth (if you combined all their tooths).
StormTheField | 8:31 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
If you watched the replay on the pass interference call, you noticed that the defender immediately threw his arm in disgust as soon as the play was over, before that late flag flew in from the left. Meaning there was probably an immediate flag from the other side that the camera didn't see. Either way, that was a borderline call, could've been "uncatchable" but so could many calls in many games across the country.

Bottom line is, Utah's D stepped up when it had to, as did Brian Johnson, as did Sakoda. I don't blame the fans for storming the field, I would've done the same thing if I was there considering the huge roller coaster of emotions there at the end of the game.

If the Utes don't clean up their crap, meaning the turnovers, the personal fouls, and the giving up 3rd and long plays at crunch time, they will not go undefeated. This better be a wakeup call to Coach Kyle. DISCIPLINE YOUR BOYS or you will lose.

Go Utes!
RE: Nice Try | 8:38 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Utah had 3 timeouts to use. OSU would not have been able to run out the clock. Nice try though!
