Great win last night!!!!!!!!
to byu fans | 4:32 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
keep your congratulations...it's a rivalry I'm fine with the fact that you want us to lose - probably almost as much as I hope you lose every game you will ever play. As for all of you idiots that are complaining about a PI call....that's a shocker - imagine byu fans complaining about a call. It's kind of funny how nobody in the nation (other than y fans) are complaining - even Oregon State fans. On the flip side, the call at the end of the Washington game was all the national press talked about for a week - funny huh.

I'm sorry that you all feel so threatened by our great win last night. I admit it wasn't the prettiest game, but it was one of the most exciting games I have been to - 11 points in 2 minutes - it was awesome.

So keep all of your lame cougar comments to yourself - let's wait to see the y play a team that doesn't completely suck before we hear anything else from you.

GO UTES!!! and Go Aggies!!!

Hey, a win is a win, and utah got the win. It wasn't pretty, but in the end, they showed they had what it takes to stay focused and do work. I was in the stadium, and it was probably one of the loudest crowds i have ever heard in that stadium in the last few minutes of that game. lets go utes and keep it rolling. hopefully no more bumps in the road for a few weeks til TCU.

GO UTES

It is great for all the teams in the MWC when any team beats a BCS conference team, especilly one on the wave of a conviencing win over USC. I can't say I have ever cheered much for the Ute's but I have to give credit to you. It was a great win and way to pull out a come from behind win when it looked like you had blown it. One call, good or bad, didn't win or lose this game, but poor management of the cloak by OSU and a UofU defensive stop and a great field goal won the game. Keep it up until we meet next month. Go Blue!

Hey Yewte fans talk all you want about this ugly win against a bad OSU team. Yes they did upset USC last week at home but that was a fluke. You have to look at this same team lost to Standford to open the season then got totally blown out by Penn State. You acted like you just beat USC instead of OSU. The Beavers will be lucky to finish with a 500 record this year. And all this BCS talk forget about it there is no way that the yewtes beat BYU, or TCU. The Yewtes will drop in the polls this week and BSU will pass them by and it will come down to BSU and BYU at the end of the season not Utah and BYU.

The game last night was incredible. Oregan St. has some terrific players but Utah did what they needed to do to win the game, in dramatic style!! What a game!!!! Go UTES!!! And if the fans want to celebrate a win, Go UTES!!! I guess we should be a dignified as the writer who wants to take the emotion out of the game. Heck, we probably shouldn't cheer either. The great school to the south is so refined they are just expected to win but let's not show emotion, heaven forbid.

All the talk about polls, strength of schedule, and mindless smack talk are worthless! Here's to hoping that both teams go into Rice-Eccles unbeaten. None of the talk or hype will matter then. Both teams are on a great roll. You idiots should shut up and enjoy the ride. The really cool thing is that none of talk matters because it gets settled on the field. The game on November 22 could go either way, as we've seen so many times in the past. Good luck to both teams, but I smell a repeat of 2004!

Are you serious? I got on here a couple of times to ask BYU fans to show more class and to point out that a lot of us are civil but after dozens of unbelievably rude comments by Ute fans and then reading "to byu fans", I am so disgusted by the low class Ute fans that I'm done trying. I am ashamed to be part of a rivalry that is obviously the most childish in the nation. No class.

Serious Dude, is this the first time you have noticed how weird the Ute Fans are?

I am literally never going to subject my 11 and 14 year old daughters to RES around those fowl Ute fans. The words, the glares, I thought the 40 year old was going to try to pick a fight with my 11 year old (yep, he really picked the youngest) after Harline caught the pass and she was screaming so loud. I had to step between them, and if my girls wern't watching, he'd been drinking his beer (sorry, tannish, brown, foamy soda) through a straw. Security finally got him out of there when he and his buddies surrounded us, screaming profanities, reeking of booze...

RES is a very ugly place.

No one take children to the game November 22.

Ute fans don't know how to treat children.

Ain't the "prevent" defense wonderful! All it does is prevent you from winning. Oregon State should have stuck with what they had done on defense for the entire game, except for the last two minutes. Happens every time.
The pass interference call ... | 10:22 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
was correct. I saw it in person from row 15, and the receiver could have definitely caught the ball if he hadn't been manhandled. The line judge who threw the flag was in the end zone, and threw it after a second or two delay. Not 30 seconds, not a half hour, like some have complained. He threw it because he witnessed the infraction, and made the correct call. Besides, it was still no gimme for the Utes to get the 2 on the ensuing play. Give them credit for pulling out one of the most exciting wins ever. And as for the fans rushing the field, they were caught up in what was an absolutely electrifying atmosphere. I can just picture a few BYU grumps hollering out, "Don't run onto the playing surface. You only beat a 2-2 team. Celebrating is unseemly and undignified."

Give me a break, you whiners. You're really straining if that's all you can say about what was one of the most enjoyable, satisfying, and amazing wins in Utah Utes history. Go back in your hole and wait till your big November surprise on the 22nd.

I cannot believe that BYU is so jealous that they are dwelling on Ute Fans storming the field! Come on BYU Fans give the Ute's some credit for winning! It seems that BYU Fans are the Ute's biggest viewing fans and have nothing more to do with their time than dwell on the Utes...how pathetic for BYU. Get over it and step up to the plate and quit trash talking!

I was closer than the ref on the field and I saw that he was close enough to that ball to catch it if there wasn't the PI. Good call, very evident from 5 feet or 50 feet.
ugh | 7:52 a.m. Oct. 4, 2008
If Ute fans don't know how to treat children, maybe you should tune out the general conference broadcast today, as many of the LDS Church's leaders graduated from that institution.

Remember that news story last year when some Ute fan was pummeled and hospitalized last year at LES? No I'm sure you don't, that couldn't possibly happen, right? The point is people get way over the top with sports and need to remember that it's just a game, and the "other fans" are people too. This board just proves there are too many that place football above the value in their fellow men.

Fanaticism about a football team is ridiculous, people that say in order to be a true fan of one team you have to HATE the other (and with that hate the other team's fans) have forgotten themselves and can only lead to careless and insensitive words and actions. Both BYU and Utah are having great success this year, why can't we enjoy it? Rather than spending so much energy trying to discredit or attack our 'opposing team'? People that think they rise higher by putting others down have a few things to learn!
re:justafan & Bail Out | 8:48 a.m. Oct. 4, 2008
I disagree on that pass interference call. It was a very good call. If you want to discuss bad pass interference calls, then let's look back at a BYU/Utah game where BYU ran out of downs only to get saved by a pass interference call. Now that was much more a bad call than this one!
re: laughing | 9:03 a.m. Oct. 4, 2008
Let's look at the difference shall we. First Utah beat Oregon State who just beat USC, the #1 ranked team, and who is currently ranked just below BYU. Now let's look at Washington. They've beat who? Oh yeah, no one. If you want to make light of the Oregon State win, then you're just making BYU look worse. I don't see Utah losing any in the rankings over that loss. Especially since the game wouldn't have been close if we didn't give them 13 easy freebies in an interception for 6 and a fumble for 7. We dominated the first half. We would've been even more dominant if we hadn't given them the 6. The second half, our offense stank during the 3rd quarter and half of the 4th quarter. Then the offense we saw in the first quarter surfaced and won the game. The game does not show anything about who is a better team between Utah and BYU. It does make the MWC look stronger and better. I'm happy the MWC clearly dominated the PAC 10. The only loss being Colorado State. The MWC champ deserves a BCS bid more than the PAC 10!
RE: TRUE BLUE | 9:15 a.m. Oct. 4, 2008
That was clearly a good call. The ball was uncatchable because the defender made it uncatchable. Watch the entire play! If you want to look at bad pass interference calls, then look back at the Utah/BYU game where we won the ball on downs, and thus the game, only to have it yanked on a clearly bad call where the only pass interference was on the offensive receiver! Utah dominated the first half. It should've been 20 to 9, but Utah gave them 6 with the interception. The second half we gave them another 7 with a fumble, and the offense was MIA until the last half of the 4th quarter. Then they played the game like the first half again. Was it ugly? Yes, but it was a fair win in the end. OSU could've avoided the penalty by avoiding obvious pass interference. Your issue with the penalty was that it was "uncatchable". If you watched the play, the reason the ball was "uncatchable" was because of the pass interference! Still, if the OSU player hadn't done the pass interference in the first place, then then penalty couldn't have been called "catchable" or not. The penalty was OSU's fault!

I am just dreading November. We'll have good teams, but these boards are going to be swamped with such juvenile trash talking...I'm just glad I'm relocated and can watch the games from far away, instead of in the heat of a ridiculous "Holy War." Spare me.
Advice to BYU & UTAH FANS | 3:00 p.m. Oct. 4, 2008
Most of you understand this, but for those that don't, you should be happy with every Utah and BYU win except for the one against you! You should also be happy for every MWC win. This year is one of the best for the MWC with a 6-1 record against the PAC 10. All this can do is make Utah and BYU look better at the end of the season! Why talk down the schedule of each other? It doesn't make your team look better. It actually does just the opposite. I would love BYU and all the other schools in the MWC to have the strongest schedule possible as long as they win. Then I want Utah to beat them all. Had BYU and the rest of the MWC won their non-conference games in 2004, Utah could've been playing for a National Championship. This year, the MWC almost done that. UNLV let us down with a loss to Nevada and Colorado State dropped a game to California to ruin the MWC shutout of the PAC 10. Still, the 6-1 record against the PAC 10 makes a win against UNLV, NM, BYU, Utah, or TCU more impressive. GO MWC!!!!

So I never knew that all Ute fans subjected their children to fights, hatred and promiscuity. We're all just so horrible aren't we. I'm sure there's never been a BYU fan that's been unruley and kicked out of a game. Because of your post alone, I'm going over to be a BYU fan because all BYU fans treat their children great!!! I want to be a great father someday, so I guess I need to cheer for BYU. GO COUGARS!!!
Hey Utah fans... | 9:30 p.m. Oct. 4, 2008
Who has Utah beat this year that is good? The only team they beat who actually has a winning record is Air Force (3-2). Wow, I am soooooooooooo impressed.

Stop bragging about how your team has played such a tougher schedule than BYU. No one is buying that faulty argument.
re: Hey Utah fans | 11:10 p.m. Oct. 4, 2008
haha this guy above me i love it...yeah lets take a look at who utah has beat shall we...in the teams we have played their combined record is 15-17 and byu....7-17...yeah byu has played ucla who beat a then ranked 15 tennessee, but hasn't won since...we've played teams who have beat the #1,9,and 15 ranked teams... congrats to byu for their strength of schedule..might as well play peewee teams...oh and the only team you have beat with a winning record...NORTHERN IOWA...check your facts before you get out here and run your mouth and sound like an idiot

NORTHERN IOWA!! yeah ucla beat a then ranked 15 tennessee but lets see utah beat michigan in michigan who just beat 9 wisconsin..we beat OSU who just beat then #1 USC and we beat UNLV who beat then #15 Arizona State..don't talk about strength of schedule when you have a worse one than the U

I'd like to see Utah play a complete game before their fans predict what is going to happen to BYU.

Their seasonial clock is ticking (just like a 34 year old women's biological clock is), they know they will lose some stupid game somewhere, then all their fun will be over.

Just like the past two seasons, it will not come down to Nov 22.

Just read that. OSU beat USC, not Utah.

Don't pull the "Ute logic six degrees of Kevin Bacon", or I'll pull the old Steve Young was a Super Bowl MVP, therefor bYU is better than any other team in the country "UTE logic".

Dear Advisor,

Please stuff a sock in it. I choose to excersize my devinely granted right to root for BYU to lose every game in every sport they play.

There is nothing, repeat nothing, more unsufferable than a BYU fan when they are winning.

I will gladly sacrifice conference recognition to keep BYU fans quiet.

when you say they will lose some stupid game somewhere you are refering to BYU right?
Since according to your fans (who are never wrong if you ask them) you have had some of the best Y teams ever in the past two years shouldnt you have already made it to the BCS. You didnt lose any stupid games the last two years have you...?
Oh wait.
You guys have much bigger things in front of you before that Nov 22nd game.
If you play like you did at Washington or even Utah State at a place like AF or TCU you will be the ones taking the importance that game could have away..
but best of luck zoobies, you are going to need it
Bogus penalties | 5:15 p.m. Oct. 7, 2008
This comment is way late, but I'm a little upset with criticisms of a "bogus" PI call on the two-point conversion.

I don't think the call was questionable. Even if was, the Utes were hurt equally badly by a bogus facemask call on OSU's last drive that gave them a first down, allowed the drive to continue and ended with a touchdown creating the 28-20 margin. The ball carrier barely had his facemask grazed, and the new rule this year is that inadvertant facemask penalties are simply not called.

So, if the PI call was bogus it just made up for the bogus facemask call.
