Odd photo illustrating this article on the home page. It depicts a snowboarder. Deer Valley is a skiers only resort, no snowboards allowed. That's one of the reasons it's rated so high.

its rated so high because them and alta are still stuck in the mainstream eighties. Skate Hate. of the three resorts closed to snowboarders i dont find deer valley any better than a pow session on the deepest day at the bird or a little snipe session above alta. it is sad when you've got to break the law to get some good riding in.

SKI magazine? | 8:43 a.m. Oct. 2, 2008
I don't know if I'd call it an honor to be voted the #1 resort by that magazine. SKI is basically a lifestyle magazine - it's not really about skiing. SKI is a magazine for intermediate rich middle-aged women who think the sport of skiing is more about expensive clothing, slopeside lodging, fancy dining, and hot tubs and not about the actual sport of skiing.

So buyer beware: The best ski resorts according to SKI magazine are going to be the ones with the best "mall atmosphere".

If you really want to know which resorts are best based on things that matter to an actual skier (like snowfall, vertical rise, lift system, etc.), stick with SKIING or Powder magazine's ratings. FYI, Snowbird/Alta came in 3rd in SKIING's.....Deer Valley nowhere to be found.

The greatest luxury for SKI readers who frequent Deer Valley is the ability to head to the night club for apres ski without having to change out of their Roffe stretch pants. Socialite and "exercise enthousiaste" all in the same stupid pants.
Go SKIERS!!!!

Shorter lift lines | 3:09 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
The economy should add up to much shorter lift lines. If tourism is siding in Vegas, you don't think Utah will be taking a hit?
