Why are we rewarding our children for doing things that don't build them up, like text messaging. It is a waste of time.

Where is the award for academic achievement. Where is the kudos for service.

This visit is only going to ruin our children not help them.

Get Over It... | 9:50 a.m. Sept. 16, 2008
Gazelem...Get over it. There are plenty of awards for academic achievement and service at Weber High as my kids have received them in the past and the ones there now will receive them. High school is high school and things like this will happen even if you think texting is a waste of time. It was a contest...get over it! The visit won't ruin these kids!

these kids get one thrill and they'll remember it forever. Especially the kids that got hugs and kisses from one of the major babes of their generation.

Don't deny them, Gazelem. Life isn't just about studying. These kids work hard and they deserve this. "This visit is only going to ruin our children not help them." ??? Give it a rest. It won't hurt them and it's just another HS experience.

Very cool. I don't like her music or her acting projects but I respect that she showed up and spent some time with people who obviously valued her visit. It's nice to see someone of her stature do something like this, give back to the 'fans' so to speak.

And no, this won't ruin the children at all. If anything, this should give them a sense of accomplishment and show them that if they really want something they can have it, especially if they work together towards a common goal.

Where's morality gone? | 3:07 p.m. Sept. 16, 2008
Wow! Ever since the right-wing made unwed teenaged motherhood into a "family value", we're seeing low-morality people like Jessica Simpson get the big treatment from our SCHOOLS.

I'm so glad I raised my daughter outside that environment.

What do you mean by unwed teenaged motherhood into a "family value?" Jessica was not an unwed teenaged mother. I don't know where you got your information from but you need to check your facts. I think you have her mixed up with Britney Spears and her sister.

I had the opportunity to meet Jessica and she was very polite and down to earth and friendly with the kids. She showed an interest in them and was floored when she walked in the gym to the ovation she got. She talked about was she switched to country and quite frankly I like the country jessica more than the pop.

No matter what you think....Where's morality gone you won't believe that people can change and because of that you are closed minded but let's not forget that you are thinking of the wrong girl.

No. Utah sees a major earthquake every 350 years. Last one? 350 years ago.
