and executive experience of Governor Sarah Palin?
Barack Hussein Obama is a lawyer, social worker (community organizer) and a junior legislator of less than 2 years, who votes present 40% of the time and votes 100% along party lines. No change, with zero accomplishments.
Governor Sarah Plain includes business and executive experience, Commander of a National Guard, Mayor and CEO, City Councilor and a community PTA member over a 14 year period and unlike Obama she has not snorted cocaine.
No wonder the media, has not completed the vetting of Barack Hussein Obama or asked him tough questions, like what qualifies him more to run for President than Governor Sarah Palin? What makes him ready for the job, more than Sarah Palin? Keep smiling��

Utah voters feel no ill will toward McCain for not picking Romney??? You would
have thought life as we know it ended when 1) Romney wasn't going to be
President and 2) As a second slap in the face of Utah, Romney wasn't going
to be Vice President either! This despite the incessant glowing and overly
optimistic reports and projections of months past by The Deseret News, which, as
we all know now, were of no avail.

facade as a good mother and devoted family person. Her and her husband are
failures as parents yet want to legislate morality for the rest of us. Wake up
Utah, there are plenty of better qualified, better parenting women choices out
there for VP.

Palin is a great pick! She has a variety of experience, from local to
statewide. Obama supporters that say she lacks experience must see something in
Obama I don't. I see very little experience in him, how does his
experience qualify him for Pres. more than hers. Why doesn't someone say
Obama needs to stay home and care for his two young daughters? Are liberals
also sexist?

The McCain Campaign's choice to repeat blatant lies and distortions even
after they have been shown to be completely false, coupled with Sarah
Palin's belief that a woman should not have the right and the
responsibility to "choose" even in cases of rape or incest, shows me
that a McCain-Palin ticket would be even worse than our last eight years with
Bush-Cheney in charge.

As a feminist and a democrat, I find Mrs. Palin an insulting choice. There are
plenty of republican women who are intelligent, driven, experienced, and
understand the issues facing out nation. Mrs. Palin showed in her news
interview that she has a woeful lack of understanding and education on major
issues. Mrs. Palin is just a patronizing pat on the head to women everywhere;
an assumption that McCain can get disaffected Hilary supporters to vote for any
woman, regardless of their qualifications. Mrs. Palin is a step back for women
everywhere, serving a a token female. There are capable women out there in both
parties. Unfortunately, Mrs. Palin isn't one of them.

I'm sorry, Mike, that you're uncomfortable living in a state where the
majority of voters side with conservative values and principles --and who vote
Republican much of the time only because the National Democratic Party is so
left-wing as to leave most of middle-of the-road and conservative voters behind.
Utah used to be solidly Democratic...it was the 1972 Democratic National
Convention which at the height of "hippy happenings" and burning draft
cards, that turned Utahns off. Demos haven't regained them because, well,
they're still far-left. If you lived in the North East part of the United
States -- like wacko-Vermont (Ben and Jerry-land) where there's a serious
movement to try and separate their idylic little paradise away from the rest of
the United States.... and where socialistic and the "nanny-state"
reign supreme, then you could easily have substituted your thesis of
"Sheep" to those voters who haven't put in a Republican
dog-catcher in about 50 years. Republicans are endangered species in the
liberal North East... There's only 1 Republican Congressman from the North
East, and he's very very liberal. Just thought this should bring some
balance to your perspective.

Palin isn't a bad choice, just not the type I thought McCain would pick. Many of her campaign people worked for HW Bush throughout the last eight years, which is something John McCain doesn't want most Americans to know. Those who work closely to the candidates in campaigns usually end up working for that person after the election. And, as we all know, it's not the President that runs the country, it's those who surround him. Can we stand for another four years of Bush cronies running the greatest country in the world?

How was the poll worded? Dan Jones has a reputation for cooking polls by using qualifiers in his wording.
I don't trust any polls done by them for either party.
If the majority of voters side with conservative values and principles in this state, how do you explain McCain dumping his disabled wife after several years of infidelity, and marrying a wealthy woman to further his ambition. If McCain wins Utah's votes, the Clinton jokes in this state take on a hypocritical context.
I remember a certain leader of the LDS church and his friend the president of BYU making a statement that it was impossible to be a Democrat and be LDS in the early 70's. Both were strong members of the John Birch society.

Is there any evidence that Sarah Palin has ever wrestled with the issues?
Everything I've seen of her suggests that she's held onto her simple
world-view and cruised through life. I'd guess that she reads Guns and
Ammo rather than The Economist. Yes, Matt Damon is "just" an actor,
but I agree with what he's said about Palin. We should be scared to death
with the possibility that she could be president. This is reality, not some bad
Disney movie.
Watch the O'Reilly interview of Obama to see how a statesman handles a tough interview. Obama knows the issues. He's smart!!! Palin's a lightweight. McCain's judgment should be questioned after this selection. Of course, it's an effort to win the white house. He's not looking for a partner to run the country. He's looking for a gimmick to divert Americans' attention from the hole the Republicans have put us. If McCain wins, Palin will not be a Cheney. She'll be sent out for photo-ops. She doesn't have much more to contribute.

Although Rommney would have been the best choice, I completely understand why McCain couldn't choose him as a VP running mate. There is no way that Rommney would have helped his campaign due to Evangelical bigotry.
With that said, the choice of Palin is 100% political pandering. There were many far better choices (females included) that were available.
At this point, I have to believe that McCain's upswing in the polls and the title of this article (Utahns happy with Palin pick) can only mean one thing: People really are stupid. There is no other explanation. Its discouraging to see such air headed decision making by both McCain and voters.

Obama has shown up only 40% of the time to vote in the U.S. Senate and was named the #1 most liberal senator by non-partisan National Journal. In the Illinois Senate was notorious for avoiding a vote by casting a vote "present". Most cited achievements are someone else's bill that he co-sponsored.
* Cited qualifications: Gov. Palin beat a corrupt governor, cut taxes & spending and pushes more energy development. Sen. Obama has run for President securing the Democratic nomination.

Because he gave a great speech a couple of years ago, everyone fell in love with him. Then Oprah came on the scene and he was the be-all and end-all.. Hillary has more experience than him. fact ... you obviously have been drinking at the conservative sewage fountain

any v.p. in recent history to walk into the oval office as president sometime in

This is a choice to try and re- direct the focus away from the issues to a

I consider myself a Republican and was going to vote for McCain, that is until
he pulled this VP pick out of his hat. My gut sense is that Gov Palin is a
vengeful person. I think that the current investigation will uncover evidence
to support that sense. I don't want to have such a person in the position
of possibly becoming President should anything happen to McCain. I suspect the
evangelical support that was key to putting Bush into office may put McCain and
Palin there. McCain is campaigning in the shadows of Palin. That is not, IMO,
the stature that the man that wants to lead the country should be. A small part
of me wants McCain to win so that he will be punished having to work with Palin.
Obamas tax plan is better for the low and middle classes. But he is too
liberal in some areas for my liking. I think that my vote will go to either
Barr or Nader. Some may think that is just throwing away a vote. But I'll
have voted my conscience. Just think if all dissatisfied Reps. and Dems. threw
away there vote to a third party candidate.

alienate Utah from voting Democrat in the future. Similarly if McCain were
elected, he would not want to do anything to keep Utah from returning to the
Republican fold in the next election. This would discourage McCain, per his
idol, Teddy Roosevelt, from declaring a "Yellowstone" in Utah. The
best thing about McCain losing would be that Palin would be free to run for
President in 2012--still as Governor of Alaska and not saddled with potential
mistakes of a McCain administration. The sooner Palin is President, the better.
Thus, voting for Obama would be a win-win-win. (It would also let the eastern
Republicans who continually vote against Utah's interests realize they
can't take Utah's Republicanism for granted. That would make it a
win-win-win-win.)

Do people really think that Drilling for more oil will lower the price of gas at
the pumps? The US drivers will not get any lowered gas prices because the oil
came from wells in the US. The oil will still be sold on the world market and
the cost will be the same as if the oil came from a well in the middle east.
Prices skyrocketed due to speculators trading oil commodites. Regulate oil
speculation and the price will lower.
Brazil has recently struck oil and that should help to lower prices. Gov Palin taxed the oil companies and brought a $5 billion surplus to the Alaska state coffers. Do you think that the oil companies did not pass that added expense on to its customers?

Why LDS Republicans continue to support another Evangelical candidate for office
is a mystery. The Evangelicals trashed Romney's bid because he was a
"non-Christian" in their eyes. Mrs. Palin supports this same bias

I have yet to find anyone in my circle of friends, associates and acquaintances who supports McCain enthusiastically on his own merits. I suppose that it is possible I have few contacts, but it is hard for me to forget that no one at my neighborhood caucus in March even mentioned McCain by name. Talk about the elephant in the classroom, lipstick or not.
If the majority of Utahns vote for McCain, they will do so without thinking about it much. If they compare their lives in 2000 against their lives in 2008 after 8 years of Republican mismanagement, Utahns will look for someone else for whom to cast a vote.

I'm so happy to hear that people in Utah love Sarah as much as we
Alaskan's do. She's got the highest approval rating of ANY governor,
approximately 80%. She's going to make an incredible VP. Is she perfect?
No. Has she made mistakes? Absolutely. We all have. I simply ask you to please
remember this is Father's plan not man's. I believe Father has great
things in store for all of us with McCain and Palin working together. The
election will turn out the way Heavenly Father intends it to. Sarah is so
awesome. We miss her being in Alaska with us daily, but we know when she wins
this election she will continue to do an amazing job for the entire United
States of America. As an employee of the State of Alaska, she's my boss. I
will personally miss her. Our love to all of you from a proud Alaskan and an
even prouder American.

What it all comes down to is that the liberal whiners and moaners have their
knickers in a twist because they can't find anything of substance to whine
about with Palin. Every time they open their mouths, they sound more and more

I wouldn't vote Republican if my life depended on it. 4 to 8 more years of
what we have had these last 8??? No way!!! If Jesus Christ and Mother Teresa
were running Repub, I would not vote for them. Party policy is what I look at
but I listen to where the candidates stand. It's going to be hard this year
because neither is perfection or near it, but after reading between McCain and
Obama, I will give Obama a one term chance to make things better. If you have to
vote for someone you don't care for, at least make sure you agree with his
ideals.

Not all Utahns approve of Palin. Unfortunately, Utahns have been trained not to
truly evaluate information and evidence before making decisions. Witness the
fact that Utah is the # 1 place for consumer fraud. Also, witness the strangle
hold of the state Republican right wing faction over Utah politics. Utah
lawmakers no more represent the value of typical Utahns than McCain/Palin
will.
What is more important if one chooses not to vote on the basis of the issues first, is what does this choice say about McCain.
In these seriously troubled times we have a geriatric politician making a choice for the second highest office in the country on a "gut check" level. Clearly, there was no back ground check or significant vetting to see if this woman was an appropriate match, if she had the intellectual muscle and the necessary fund of knowledge on enough of the important issues.
This country has had enough "if I knew then, what I know now" nonsense, imagine what he is going to say in a few weeks when her "accomplishments" have been fully investigated.
If this is how he/they will run the country, count me out.
