Don't kid yourself. IF the PAC-10 decides to expand, Utah and BYU will be at the top of the list of candidates they'll consider.

The PAC-10 is first and foremost, an ATHLETIC (note spelling) conference. They're not Ivy League West.

Colorado and Texas have no reason to leave the Big 12, so who else would the PAC-10 invite? Fresno State? San Diego State? San Jose State?

BYU sure made their opponents LOOK harder with that stellar defense they have, didn't they?

Why do we have to keep talking about this. If leaving school for two year, not playing any football, and having limited opportunity to workout were an advantage, then every coach in the country would be sending his players on a two year Peace Corps mission. The fact that this is not happening indicates that those who really understand what it takes to be a good D1 player (the coaches), know that it is NOT an advantage.

Those who bring it up, whether the uninformed in places like this, or media members with a bias, just sound dumb when they talk about it. And for the occasional coach who mentions it, I would just ask, "Coach why don't you send your players away somewhere for a couple years?" Answer: Because it is not really an advantage.
