Do you get anything right?

Jason is not 'a lot better than the other choices we have been given'. In fact, he is much, much worse than all of the other choices whether you know it or not.

I'm voting for Bennion. He's not perfect, but he's a much better choice and he lives in the 3rd district, which matters to me.

They lost everything?

Those that had losses could have filed claims under he 1948 Evacation Claims Act which was amended several times throughout the 1950s. Claims up to $100,000 were eligible for hearings and when all was concluded there were only 15 appeals to the settlements offered by the government out of more than 26,000 claims filed. How much fairer could that have been?

No other group in the United States got that kind of special treatment for war losses, and there were plenty of losses other than those by the Japanese.

As for the racetrack story, they were converted into apartmnents and housed American soldiers until the end of the war.

Sorry, but the expereriences of your grandparents fails in comparison to millions of other Americans who made greater sacrifices during the war.

Jason has lived in Utah County for 20 years. His city and 3 other Utah County cities are outside the Third District due to gerrymandering that took place in an attempt to oust Rep. Matheson over 10 years ago. Gerrymandering takes place all the time in politics as a method of gaining votes for the gerrymandering politician and reducing votes for your opposition. Therefore the Constitution protects us from gerrymandering by allowing you to run for office regardless of where you live within your state. The values of Jasons community more closely reflect the rest of Utah County than they do the big cities of the 2nd District, which include Salt Lake City, Park City, Price and St. George.

I almost get tired of shooting down your ignorant remarks, but not quite. I don't care how long the chameleon (Jason) has lived in Utah County. You see, there are parts of Utah County THAT ARE IN THE 2ND DISTRICT, LIKE THE LOCATION OF JASON'S HOUSE!

He could have run against Matheson, but noooooo. He had to carpetbag and pick the low lying fruit that is Cannon.

But thanks for the futile attempt to try and not paint him as an opportunist, a racist, a flip-flopper, a liar, and a whole host of things that he is and you try in vain to convince us that he is not.

"Chaffetz" and "butt" in the same headline. In the D- news!

Unemployment up, illegals taking jobs of Americans. Western Governors Association resolution feels that one processing center is best to deal with people illegally here. Honda tries to get votes from the large Latino population in his district. Politics as usual.

It's never been about race, it's about protecting American jobs, just like other countries protect theirs.

Human rights apply to people no matter what their citizenship is.
Is it just to put someone whose only crime was being born before their mother made it to the north side of the Rio Grande into a detention camp?
The punishment does not fit the "crime".
I hope Chaffetz gets trounced. He is a disgrae to the church, to the Republican party and to Utah. He is a hate monger and I hope he only gets two votes.

All humans are children of God and deserve to be treated with respect. Chaffetz's tent cities do not exemplify this treatment at all.
I hope with all my heart that Chaffetz is defeated.

Please, vote for Spencer. A failure to vote for Spencer is tantamount to a vote for a facist.
I would also recomend that people who oppose Chaffetz not try to align him with the more moderate elements in the Republican party.
We have to let people recognize that Chaffetz's tent cities are his unique extreme idea and not representative of the views of Mitt Romney, and even less so the views of McCain or Bush.
You may personally dislike all the above, but the only way to defeat Chaffetz is to get people to realize how extreme he is, and by comparing him to people who have actually run a government somewhere and know how to compromise, you are shooting yourself in the foot.
I think one reason Democrats loose so often in Utah is because they attack Republicans at large instead of their specific opponant in particular.

To history student,
There was more support for Germany by German Americans than Japan by Japanese Americans. Yet Germans were not sent to internment camps. Non-citizen Germans were forced to register, but they were not moved.
The huge non-citizen Italian population in San Fracisco was not forced to move.
The lack of citizenship on the part of many Japanese was a direct result of the fact that they were barred by law from becoming citizens.
However, I think this is about racial profiling. I never, ever carry documents that prove I am a citizen, so if it was not for the fact that I look as white as the day is long I might have been detained.

This isn't about race.
Jason has called for a federal detention facility in the west to house federal prisoners. Only those convicted of a crime would be housed in this facility.

Federal prisoners who are not violent criminals are often released because there is no prison space to hold them. The detention facility would house those who are convicted of federal crimes whether or not these people are illegal aliens.

Jason has also suggested that tent facilities similar to those in Arizona are good enough for our soldiers in Iraq and should be good enough for our federal prisoners here at home.
