From a non-biased point of view I think your picks are pretty good. I think East may pull one off against AF. I also don't think Pine View will be that close to Cottenwood but you still picked them winning. Last I don't know either if LP will get Timp but I'd love to see it.
Prepcrazy | 11:39 a.m. Sept. 5, 2008
Payson beat Spanish Fork in 2007 at Spanish Fork. Last Year the Dons started another winning streak beating Payson 50-14. After playing Alta and Timpview the Dons are just lucky to be healthy. Interesting to see how Payson and Spanish Fork will react to be in the same region next year.

meee | 1:36 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
bradah the cottonwood vs pine view game is going to be pretty good but i still think cottonwood will give them the bizznes

and hmm copper hills hillcrest?? well i think it will probably be close at first but then CH will just take the lead and show em what they have even tho im rootin for hillcrest ha
layton hater | 1:39 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
it wont be that close for jordan and layton...all layton does is run they dont have a QB.
the colt | 1:39 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
no one will beat cottonwood this entire year. you heard it hear first. feel the stampede.
Cottonwood Colt | 2:08 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
uuhhh...Layton looked like their quarterback was pretty descent when we played them. Layton hater do you go to Northridge?
Friday Night Rider | 2:14 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
to anti:

You are right... that was my whole purpose is to dis on those St. George teams... Get over it, I am so sick of hearing all the southern fans whining about everything. There is nothing anti about it. I just call it the way I see it. I actually think that Pine View will be better than Cottonwood this year, but it is the pre-season and Pine View is playing away so I think Cottonwood will come out on top. I don't know what the teams are like from California and Las Vegas that Snow Canyon and Dixie are playing so I could be completely wrong. Stop being such a baby.
RE; Anti st. george | 2:38 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
Desert Hills 38 Emery 6 sounds pretty anti st. george to me.
True Blue Layton Lancer Fan | 2:41 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
Although very exciting to have a shootout, I expect a lower scoring game with Layton-Jordan (notice who I put 1st), unless they can't recoop their losses that they're still without 2 of their best defense guys. Layton QB pretty much picked apart the Cottonwood defense....lot of dropped and missed opportunities last week by the receivers. Look for Layton to upset Jordan on the turf, 27-23.
Salem Hills? | 3:16 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
Salem Hills will dominate? They were in the game last week but still lost. They lost to another new program, I hardly think they will dominate. They should be competitive in their new region next year.

to True Blue Layton Lancer Fan:

I really appreciate your comments because I love the discussion it creates. The Layton-Jordan game was a tough pick for me, and honestly I think it could go any way. On the scores on all of my predictions I am probably way off anyway! The reason I picked Jordan was because they already lost a close game at home this year and I think they got their confidence with their win in Ohio so those two things combined give me reason to pick them. It should be one great game though. May the best team win!
Re: night rider | 3:21 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
Who cares about the opinion of the Friday "Night Rider" Do you ask your talking black car who will win this week and then it spits back these predictions? Way cool.

to Re: night rider at 3:21

as a matter of fact, I put my mask and cape on and fly to the future to see the games and then come back and give you the predictions but in order to keep my identity safe I guess some of them wrong on purpous. Isn't it birlliant. Honestly I don't care what you think, and if you don't like what I write then don't read it. Try and lighten up a little buddy, life is to short to be a jerk on a local newspaper comment board.

I personally appreciate this Friday Night Rider, he is a real high school football fan. If you don't agree with him, does it matter? Cause what he says won't affect the game, it's just what he thinks. He sparks conversation unlike your worthless comments.
re friday night rider | 4:41 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
Brighton will beat hunter and it will be a low scoring game. no way hunter puts up 42
Predictions | 4:51 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
La Costa over Dixie? This is La Costa's first game of the season compared to Dixie's 3rd game. The Flyers already have most of the kinks worked out, they are at home, and it's 105 deg in St. George right now. These La Costa guys will be cramping up big time about the middle of the 3rd qtr. The California guys will not want to be coming back to Utah after this butt kicking.
Dixie 35 La Costa 14
re: friday night rider | 5:21 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
did you see the davis game last night? where do we fit in our region? i think we lose to nridge and beat layton...love to know what u think. thx
DHS DARTS | 7:22 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
I'm the biggest Davis fan out there, trust me. But if we play like we did last night, we won't beat Layton or Nridge. But if we play to the potential of what I know we can, we can beat both of them. Fowler just needs to regain his confidence and we need to start using our receivers a little more and give Lloyd some runs, Hinds will get warn out.

To Anonymous and The Davis Fan...

Thank you for your comments. I really do love high school football and I just don't know a lot of people who do so I try and talk on here with people who are knowledgable about the subject. So thank you very much for giving me your input. I love to hear the different opinions. I am planning on going to a different HS football game every week to see all the amazing games and so far it has been great. I do go to more Mtn. Crest games than any other because that is my alma mater but I go to more games in the Salt Lake Valley because I live their now. I am really trying to learn more about the teams I don't know a lot about, so to the person who told me about the Brighton and Hunter game- thank you! I think that the battle for region 1 this year will be N. Ridge Layton and Davis... I'm gonna go out on a limb and say NR over Layton, Layton over Davis, and Davis over NR in a stunner for a 3 way region tie!
Davis Fan | 10:32 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
I would take a three way tie...that would be tons of fun!
True Blue Layton Lancer | 10:44 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
Can you say stomped?! Layton destroys Jordan 35-14!!! Tied 14-14 going into the 4th, Layton turned up the heat and melted JOrdan on their fake grass! Actually, great game both ways. For Jordan to lose their 1st two home games to Layton & Northridge, means either Region 1 is heating up again after only 3 weeks (true) or the rest of 5A is noticing who they play more when they look up north.

Jordan's Jr QB will be great next year. He hit a lot of accurate and long passes. Great game Jordan. Greater game Layton!
Re: anti | 10:45 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
Looks like Friday Night Rider was right on...your St. Georgies "did" get spanked all night! Cudos to FNR once again. He misses a few but I trust his judgment! Given the "swami" a run for his money!
True Blue Layton Lancer | 11:02 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
Night Rider.....thx for all the input. You better plan on back to back nights at Layton starting in a couple weeks. Layton hosts Davis, then Northridge the following week. If Layton wins both, they'll take the region. You're right, 4 best teams in region 1 are all 10-15 minutes apart. All great this year, but Davis will fall off. Will only do so much with a Soph QB....as good as he may be, he's still a Soph. Northridge running attack a notch below Layton's, with Layton for sure better when Jackson returns.

It's all about the brackets in state playoffs. Bingham starting slow, but look for a sleeper from UT County this year. If Layton, Alta make it as far as I think/hope they will this year, there may be a repeat state championship game.
hunter pride | 11:40 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
brighton choked. three interceptions in one half? a defensive lineman on hunter got an interception? i dont care whoever said that brighton is going to win. hunter got the job done. that quarterback single handedly gave the game to hunter. #32 on hunter made two great picks. straight picks i might add. hunter is coming together. i dont think they have what it takes to take state. but i believe that they do have what it takes to make it tough for region three.
Re: Re Anti | 12:40 a.m. Sept. 6, 2008
yeah they really got spanked especially Snow Canyon who is a one man show with Adam Timo and played Las Vegas who is ranked #2 in the state of Nevada down to the wire 47-40. Far from the 27-3 prediction!
anti | 1:11 a.m. Sept. 6, 2008

I would love for you to come watch some Utah County teams and then offer your opinion on those games?? I know it's hard where you live in S.L. but I think it's great reading your posts and seeing from your point of view what football is really about! I am a true P.G. fan and I know you pick us to loose but that's understandable if you've not seen us play, we play at copper hills next friday would love to see what your thoughts are on that one???
Cottonwood Colts | 11:47 a.m. Sept. 6, 2008
3-0 and rollin, we gotta focus up for Murray though, they look tough hahah psych.. only challenges during season are gonna be East and Highland.
Friday Night Rider | 1:42 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
Thanks to everyone who is starting up some awesome conversation! This is great. I would LOVE to come see some Utah County action, and I think I just may have to take a trip south to see a game or two. I wish I really was a super hero so I could make it to games in Utah, Salt Lake, Davis, Weber, and Cache County in the same night. I have learned my lesson picking against Timpview and I don't think I will any more. The T-Birds will break Rich High's record of 28 straight wins. Layton played awesome and I gladly eat my predicton for picking against them. As far as the Snow Canyon game, congrats to the Warriors. I am never great at picking the scores, but I did pretty good on picking the winners. This week I went 20-11 which is 64.5% for the week and pushing my season total to 66.7% Once the DN posts the top 25 I will post my top 10 in 4A and 5A (sorry to 3A but I have little knowledge so my rankings would be unfair) I look forward to all the great discussion and banter! HS football ROCKS!
