The food at Ottavio's is as good, if not better than two great restaurants in Salt Lake, Tuscany's and Rino's It is certainly the best in Utah Valley.

Is La Dolce Vita still around? For authenticity that was the place (the fresh gnocchi on Thursdays was the place to be), or there was also another one across University Ave under Los Hermanos, but it's since closed. Ottavio's is good but not authentic (at least not compared to my Italian Grandmother's authenticity).

Yes, I have eaten several times at Octtavio's and found their food to be average, but La Dolce Vita around the corner from Octtavio's has by far the better pasta. It fairly melts in your mouth. The menu might not be as extensive as where you ate. but you will leave feeling satisfied and full. La Dolce Vita was started by an Italian family who were authentically Italian cooks and have kept the quality and delicious taste over the years.

I have not found a better Italian restaurant in all the Utah Vally than Ottavios. From the homemade soups to the incredible sauce to the traditional Italian main dishes, there is nothing better.

My favorites include, Caprese, Calamari, Tomato Basil Soup, Bistec Florentine, Penne Pesto Pasta and Canolli for dessert.
