Rise of 'unknown' Palin is meteoric and historic

Debate will quiet down the repubs and out will come the Rove swift boats.
Thats all they got. Lies, unsubstantiated lies, and more lies. Nobody want to answer the question of why they have done nothing but drag America down for eight years straight. And you want to keep voting them in?
She is very well qualified: some years as a mayor, 2 years as a governor... and soon she will be one heart beat away from running the greatest nation on the face of the earth.
Is this nuts or what!!!! John could not find a better candidate???? Of course, but grandpa wanted a cheerleader.
That's all. Her knowledge of foreign affairs: zero, zip. Her experience around Washington DC: zero, zip.
Yup, grandpa John wanted a cheerleader.........
criminey.......... get me Obama's number so i can pledge money and time to defeating grandpa and the cheerleader!!!
Ha ha. Sarah Palin is the Republican Obama.
Well why wouldn't they be? These readers know that Mormons are Christians...so therefore, Christians are Mormons! So, Mrs. Palin is in fact, a Mormon! Yay!
I'm voting for her!
I can make the argument that Palin is just as qualified and experienced as Obama if not more. You can't make the argument that Obama is more qualified and experienced than McCain. He isn't even as qualified or exp as his own vp, Biden. McCain and Palin have a list of accomplishments and substance, Obama has no substance and very few accomplishments in which most aren't even worth mentioning. The few I have seen are overinflated by his supporters and biased journalists. Obama should just switch spots with Biden.
* She was born in Sandpoint, Idaho and her family moved to Alaska.
* She was first elected to office in 1992 -- two years before Obama first ran for the state senate.
* She and her husband eloped to avoid the costs of a wedding. They were married in front of the local clerk.
* Her husband is part Eskimo and has won the world's longest snowmobile race three times.
* Gov. Palin ran a commercial fishing operation for many years.
* She was a championship high school basketball player and attending the University of Idaho.
* Her oldest boy joined the Army and is going to Iraq in September.
* To offset gas prices, she pushed through a $1200 tax rebate for every Alaskan.
* She oversaw the Alaskan Oil Commission and modified the state oil tax so that revenue was based on money made, not barrels pumped. Fiercely opposed by the oil companies.
* Negotiated installation of huge natural gas pipeline with Canadian and U.S. officials.
She got elected governor in the great Republican state of Alaska because she beat incumbent Frank Murkowski in the primary. Murkowski had made some stupid decisions and some tough budget cuts at a time when oil revenues weren't what they are today. His approval ratings the year of Palin's election were running around 27%. In other words, Palin "had to get help" from an incompetent Republican. I really fail to see how Palin "earned her office unlike Obama".
Real women who supported Hillary Clinton will NOT support this person. She is the anti-thesis of everything they liked in Mrs. Clinton. The crazy right of the GOP will like her but they're own standards she should be home with her children. I guess she doesn't care about them.
I hope Biden eviscerates her.
What was McCain thinking?????????? Is he that desperate or that stupid?
By the way, Evengelicals have not been good presidents. Bush and Jimmy Carter. Not a great record. I have been surprise how dishonest Bush has been (ie lying about McCanns black child in first election, firing US attorney's if they did not prosecute Democrates and of course the lies about the Irag war). Do Evengelicals support those actions of one of their own?
Unfortuately, I am afraid the Evengelical vote was a factor in chosing the VP for McCann. It might be right or it might be wrong in the end. However, for for now it shows again that they cant look beyond someones religion.
Palin has all the makings of becoming another Lincoln in modern-day Americawhats not to like about that?
This is over pressure by various people to have her ex-son-in-law fired. He was a state policeman.
Now, why?
Let's see . .
* He tasered a 10 year old at his home.
* He threatened to kill Gov. Palin's father if he helped his daughter obtain legal counsel in the divorce.
* He was accused of --- and received a restraining order --- for violence against his former wife.
* Caught driving under the influence.
It is clear that some members of Gov. Palin's staff and her husband questioned why he was still on the state police force. How do we know? GOV. PALIN voluntarily disclosed those facts after investigation.
The investigation is being conducted by the Alaska Legislature. Gov. Palin has cooperated openly with them.
The only way there is wrongdoing is if you think it is appropriate for a state policeman with this man's record to remain on the force.
Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.2
She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000. 3
Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.4
She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.5
She's solidly in line with John McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered speciesshe was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.6
How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.7
Uhmmmmm . . looks like you forgot to edit the Obama talking points before posting.
A few counters . .
* Palin has been in political office since 1992. During that time, in different positions, she has cut taxes, reduced spending, exposed unethical behavior and, today, runs a $5 billion operation (the State of Alaska). Far more depth than Mr. Obama's few years in the Illinois Senate and U.S. Senate --- both in which he failed to vote or often voted present.
* Sure, Palin is pro-life. But, Obama is pro-infanticide opposing legislation to protect baby's that had been born alive after an abortion.
* Palin's support of Buchanan was when she was in her 20s, just getting into politics. She didn't launch her career in the home of a former bomber of NYC police hq and the U.S. Capitol like Obama did.
* Polar bears. Palin fought federal endangered species designation for one good reason --- the numbers were INCREASING. The law requires the number to be falling.
I'm sure Palin --- a mother, a conservative, and a reformer --- drives you nuts. But, the country likes her more than Joe Biden. She'll be a good VP.
Just one last thought- from Vietnam.
McCain just dropped a 1000 lb bomb on the Obama camp.
/they are going to be digging for about the next two months.
As for DCC who thinks REAL women won't vote for Palin, may I point out that real women love being women, being faithful, being married and being mothers. They also think... and can never be classed as "just another pretty face." You and your liberal ilk are promoting a rather phony version of womanhood. And your attacks on a real woman, as Palin most assuredly is, because she isn't sympathetic to your family destructive policies are going to backfire, big time.
Especially since you and your ilk are promoting an avid socialistic communist whose policies would destroy the essence of this country. The contrast couldn't be greater.
I haven't been excited about the idea of voting for McCain but in my opion he is certainly better that Obama and Biden with their first and third most liberal voting records. His choice of Palin encourages me that he will make a strong stand against gay rights and abortion. I also feel much more confident in his foreign policy ability than Obama's.
I just hope enough Americans have the wisdom to reject the Obama-Biden ticket.
mother,a religious devotee, a mayor even with only 7,000 citizens, as an aggressive "people's interests
first"politician/reformer, an active governor with 80%plus approval rate.It does not take this Lady long to catch up with foreign/military affairs. As
far as OBAMA's experiences as concerned:2 years as
a community worker(requiring some interpersonal and
organizational skills),and a few years in the Senate
( requiring OBAMA some legal knowledge but most done by office/legal experts) OBAMA or even BIDEN DOES NOT have any executive/administrative experiences.PALIN is better-qualified than both OBAMA and BIDEN(Biden's experiences better only in
foreign/military affairs;ABAMA is not Better than
PALIN in any areas!!! VOTE MCCAIN-PALIN-BETTER TEAM!
VOTE ON INTEGRITY,ON HONESTY,ON "COUNTRY FIRST" TEAM!!1
But neither did she choose Motherhood.
THIS LDS mom of 8 will NOT be voting for someone who thinks so little of her family. I know, you'll tell me she has 'mr. mom' at home. Bull. In fact, that's what we've been fed by McCain.
Yea, I'm over it now. I will be voting for Obama. Why? I don't think he'll be even remotely a good president. But it's only for 4. Let's make history electing the second comming guy, get it over with and move on in 4.
McCain has the audacity to question Obama's experience and then choose someone whose only experience in public office is on the Orem (oops, that's the Wasilla City Council) City Council. Why would he choose Jerry Washburn (oops, there I go again confusing our local version of Sarah Palin with Sarah).
If we are really lucky Jerry will run for Governor, get elected, serve two years and then be chosen as someone's VP running mate.
1) get elected to the Orem City Council,
2) serve two terms,
3) get elected mayor for two terms,
4) run for Lt. Governor of Utah and lose,
5) run for Governor and serve two years,
6) Get chosen as a VP running mate by an old guy,
7) hope the old guy dies and become President.
All my friends and family in Orem can remember the good old days when we hung out in our back yard and can be happy that I became President.
Then I can start a war of aggression because my buddies who hung out in my backyard voted for me as did someone else's buddies.
"A desperate pick by McCain."
Desperate is an understatement. He wanted a woman and a Governor but instead of choosing someone like Governor Rell who served for 10 years as a State Representative, 10 years as a Lt. Governor, and 4 years as Governor he chooses a woman who served for 4 years as a City Councilwoman, 6 years as a Mayor and as Governor of 2 years.
But even better then that is he didn't choose someone like Elizabeth Dole or Kay Hutchison who served for 4 years as a State Representative, 2 years as Vice Chairman of the NTSB, 3 years as State Treasurer, and 15 years in the U.S. Senate.
"McCain has...insulted women, and he's shown that he puts himself above country. He just lost the election."
There are literally hundreds of qualified women in this country who could serve as Vice President and assume the Presidency if necessary but Sarah Palin is not one of them. It's an insult to women in general to choose a two term City Councilwoman, two term mayor and a governor of only two years to be his VP running mate.
"Palin has been in political office since 1992."
As a City Council, Mayor and 2 years as a Governor. That's not saying much. There are hundreds of women who have been in public office prior to 1992 and who are still serving in public office.
"Far more depth than Mr. Obama's few years in the Illinois Senate and U.S. Senate --- both in which he failed to vote or often voted present."
This is a lie. You, like that lady from Wasilla are a liar. I'm glad that I'm not her neighbor and I'm sorry for the people of Wasilla who know her family and have to put up with them.
"I'm sure Palin --- a mother, a conservative, and a reformer --- drives you nuts. But, the country likes her more than Joe Biden. She'll be a good VP."
No, we hate her and we hate you. So shut your mouth voter and go to hell with your family. Won't do you and your family of voters move in with her family of voters since you love her so damn much. I'm sick of you trash so shut the hell up and vote for one another.
Funny... | 8:12 p.m. Aug. 30, 2008
"A lot of people are saying that they think she is a bad choice for vice president because of her lack of experience. Do they not realize that she has years more of executive experience than NObama? With NO executive experience, why is NObama such a better choice as PRESIDENT?"
Because Obama has executive experience. He has led the Harvard Law Review, served as the director of a community organization and has held public office. To assume that a 2 year Governor has more experience because she moved to the Governor's mention from the house next door is ignorant and you are just a moron like my neighbor so take your post neighbor and go vote for that moron down the street that you are friends with because this voter knows that neighbors like you are morons and my family of voters know that your family of voters aren't our friends and we hate you for your votes and you can tell that moron spouse of yours that this neighbor agrees with Sarah's neighbors that think she is stupid.
I would vote for her neighbor who thinks she's moron before her.
This is a bar joke just waiting to happen.
Did ya hear he one about the war hero and the beauty queen? Yea, they ran for leaders of the free world and got crushed. This is just too easy.
Lets just get the pain over quickly
"I watched her on television and absolutely love her. However, I do not think she is ready to be just one heartbeat away from the Presidency, particularly given McCain's old age and health history."
Why is it you think B. Hussein Osama, who has less administrative experience and is even closer than a heart beat away, would be a better choice?
"How could anybody says that Palin has less experiences than OBAMA or even BIDEN (in EXECUTIVE/ADMINISTRATIVE and INTERPERSONAL AREAS)."
It's easy because it's true. Obama has led a staff of editors larger then her entire staff as Governor of Alaska while he was still a student at Harvard Law School. Please explain her two years as Alaska's Governor is REAL executive experience except in the eyes of Palin and yourself.
I'm going to urge all my neighbors to run for City Council so in a few years they can become the V.P. running mate like Sarah Palin. Then they can run for Mayor and as Governor.
After all being a mayor of a large town like Orem will especially qualify them to be President. Or better yet I will urge that 18 year old Mayor of a town about the size of Sarah's to do the same. I guess it is really hard to run a town when a 18 year old can do it. I guess it's really hard to be Governor of a state smaller then some counties. I guess if being Governor of Alaska qualifies you to be VP being Mayor of Los Angeles County is.
