Doesn't seem like she has a lot of experience . . .
David G | 12:26 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Wow, she has more executive level experience (mayor and governor) than Obama, Biden, and McCain combined!
Figures | 12:33 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
What's Harvard Law School next to the University of Idaho? From the party that touts expensive being a asset for all but their own.

Yes, Figures, she is not one of the democratic elitists, remember, Slick Willy was a Rhodes (sp?) scholar. That makes her all the more appealing, though I still don't care for the head of the ticket.

Tell me, did she fudge her academic record or plagiarize speeches like Biden?

Does she hang around with racists and known street thugs like BO?

She's actually run something other than a campaign. She run a small business, a city, and a state - I'd say she has plenty more executive experience than BO.

I once saw an ad in the metro for a university. It highlighted one of their instructors and listed all the degrees he held. Nowhere in his resume did it indicate he had actually been productive outside of academia. I gathered from the ad that he could teach your kid how to get advanced degrees, but would be unable to help them advance in any other arena. While the resume was pretty glossy, it lacked substance. A glossy resume isn't what it's cracked up to be.

Sarah Palin is a Moderate Populist Conservative. Yes I see they are really gonna help out the middle class here?. She's just another AlGore tree hugger.

Palin said the state will file a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Washington challenging U.S. Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthornes decision to grant Endangered Species Act protections to the polar bear. The Republican governor has argued that the ice-dependent polar bear, the first mammal granted Endangered Species Act listing because of global warming, does not need additional protections. The Bush administration's listing was an act of submission in the face of lawsuits from environmental activist groups. As usual with acts of submission, this one didnt satisfy the demanders. Theyve gone back to court to sue because the listing doesnt include steps against global warming.

Stop the planet - this Republican wants to get off - I am tired of not getten any help, beit from the VA, or elsewhere, when I am disabled and elderly and low end of the midle class, they would rather help out a polar bear than a human being, and I am fedup with that line of thinking. Obamacon is no different here either.
In other words . . . | 1:33 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
. . . she has no experience and is not qualified for the job. Johnny wanted to get the Hillary vote, so he's pandering (using someone who won't be a challenge to him. Surprise, surprise. NOT
Anonymous | 1:56 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Yeah! That makes her better qualified than Mitt.

NOT! We've been shafted for what? Alaska's 3 electoral votes?
Only a Brief Description | 2:01 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
This piece is just a brief description. Go google her and read about what she has accomplished in her short time in politics. I think you will be suprised that she has accomplished a lot more than Obama has in his short time in politics.

It looks like many Obamabots are flinging mud and hoping something sticks. When they should be reading up on her. Go ahead and attack her exp, your top of the ticket isn't really impressing anyone on his exp.
What was he thinking? | 2:10 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I don' t see Ms. Palin as a "Tree Hugger". I see her as having big oil interests in mind. With her help, we would see another 4 years of the Bush Adminstrations failed energy policies.

Please vote for the lesser of two evils.... The Democrats.
Ricardo | 2:15 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
She is going to make a great Vice President!
Got the Nome vote | 2:17 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Well at least with that resume she is probably in the top 25 million politicians in the USA. Great choice John!

Sarah Palin just brought CONSERVATISM back to the GOP.

Perhaps we can even drop McCain.

PALIN 08!
andy | 4:08 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
SO I guess, as a former Univ. of Idaho graduate (I can assure you it was not that hard to get into or graduate)I can get a city council gig of maybe a mayoral job and get within a heartbeat of the presidency. That's reassuring! I think McCain has lost his mind or possibly likes having a hot soccer mom around to make him feel young again??? Way to go GOP. Good luck debating Biden, Mrs. Palin!! Sounds Like from some of her former professors, they dont recall her at all, real go getter! Looks like from her transcripts she even transcripts she transfered to a 2 year school in North Idaho before she could tansfer back to finish up at Univ of Idaho... Now that's sad!!!

does the GOP not have any talent anymore????

Fantastic choice Mr. McCain. It's about time we recognize the potential of somebody that millions of others do not know. Thank God for Sarah. You are in my prayers.
Bernadine Warren | 5:04 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I'm delighted to hear of Gov. Sahra Paline being chosen by Gov. McCain to be his running mate. I've never heard of her before, but just seeing her, and hearing her speak, gives me a real great American Feeling, its' like getting America Back where she belongs, I just can't explain it. I'm a Senior Citizen and grandparent, who wants the best for my hard working children, and a good safe life for my grandchildren. And also I happy she does not have a lawyer back ground, I feel there have been enough Lawyers in Politics, It time for a Change.
Judy smith | 5:06 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Extremly poor choice for Mccain. Joe Biden will eat her alive in the VP debate. 8 is enough!
karen | 5:14 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Andy-Sarah doesn't have the education; she does have COMMON SENSE. Obama has an education but isn't educated and has NO COMMON SENSE. He's off in never never land.....thinking of himself as a Greek God. Sarah is down to earth.

Sarah figures things out and Obama never will.
Hey "andy" | 5:15 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
She majored in communications and is a skillful debator. I really can't wait to see her debate Biden.

Heh heh heh!
Gary | 5:19 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I now finally believe that with Sarah and John there will be change, change for the better.
Anonymous | 5:39 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Very bad choice! She will be just like Bush! She does not have the education and the skill that is required for the job. I sujust she need to stay in Alaska and take care of her children. Good luck with it!
Sagebush | 6:12 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
EXCELLANT CHOICE. Most of you have sour grapes because she is more qulified for Vice President than Obama is for President. Obama blew it last night with a medioka speach and is not in any form ready to be President. He has used over half his time as a FIRST term Senator to run for President. This my friends has coat you and the state of Ill. many tax dollars and the trend to spend time and money for nothing will not stop if he were to be elected.
Less Govt Best Govt | 6:17 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Very happy with President (elect) McCain's VP she is exceptional choice and will serve our Nation well. God Bless her and the conservative who continue to support life from birth to natural death. We do not need more baby haters elected to high offices and as a reminder the Dems (lib party) controlled the house for 40 years from 1955- 1995 way too long and they are to blame for the horrible laws that we must try to correct with a new conservative laws. Vote conservative fro a change
SK | 6:20 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I'm impressed by Sarah and am excited about the upcoming election. John and Sarah are what's best for America.
Give her.... | 6:23 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
a break, she may not be an Ivy School graduate but she is a fast learner and hard worker with a lot of common sense. Good stragety by McCain to pick from outside the elite box.

No one will ever become the perfect candidate in this lifetime. She will learn the job as she goes along like all of us with our first jobs and I think she will do a wonderful job...
Bonny Hale | 6:26 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I cannot believe McCain would pick someone with so little experience.......less than Obama in my opinion. At his age, she could be President & I
fear she could not handle the job.
Jack | 6:28 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Hollywood couldn't do better.
Andrea | 6:54 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
A great pick..... for DEMOCRATS!!!!
mlacrimo | 6:56 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Excellent choice. McCain had me fooled who he was picking. I bet the Dem's are not screaming Hillary. Lol.
Dooku | 7:13 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
She is going to do just fine and besides, she will be surrounded by some of the best minds out there when the time comes to debate Biden. So she will be well trained before then.
massabba | 7:13 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
not a good choise
Ro N. Massapequa | 7:18 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
John does not get the Hillary vote with his choice for Vice President. Hillary supporters are pro choice, Sarah is not, she is a conservative. If she is like Bush, she will protect this country, she will give tax cuts, unemployment will be down and the economy will pick up as it just did by 3%. She will be very good for the economy.
When choosing, please research all the facts and all the accomplishments the two have made. Do what is right for you and your children. The security of you and your children may come down to your vote, please make the right choice, for all of us.
Thanks
Thanks-

Sound & thoughtful decision. The "empty suit" campaign of Obama's cannot compete with a TRULY American power team such as McCain/Palin!! Looking foward to seeing the real (and positive) change the Republican ticket is going to bring!
Ridgerunner | 7:39 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I listened to Obama's much praised speech and thought how he is no different than any other Democrat we have had to put up with. He is going to decrease taxes (yeah right-just like Bill Clinton did) and pay for every kind of government program anyone can think of! He is going to give us energy independance without drilling for oil! He is going to protect us from terrorist by negotiating with them! What he is really going to do is make the Federal Government our master instead of our servant! Dangerous times we live in!
Brother Chuck Schroeder | 7:43 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
John McCain made history today (he;ll kick the bucket this feminist will take over, screw up the whole country than after she made her billion's she'll go home to her kid's and their daddy), by announcing that he had selected Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to be his vice presidential running mate.

John McCain and Governor Palin appeared together on stage early this afternoon to the roaring cheers of 15,000 enthusiastic supporters. Before Governor Palin came on stage, the crowd celebrated John McCain's 72nd Birthday by loudly singing Happy Birthday for him three times. But never talked about how they are going to help out the middle class that earn less than $50k a year as a married couple without kid's. And when will they raise up the Federal Poverty Wage Guideline's (now at $14,600) to at least $75k. Fro a married couple without kid's because they all grew-up and moved out.

As I have said uptop - I am tired of not getten any help, beit from the VA, or elsewhere, when I am disabled and elderly and low end of the middle class, they would rather help out a polar bear than a human being.

BOTTOM LINE..........

HAS MORE EXPERIENCE THAN BARRACK HUSSEIN OBAMA!
Sonia | 7:49 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Excellent choice -- In my opinion she is more qualified for vice president than Obama for president. I wish her good luck she sounds like she has a lot of common sense.
suzyk | 8:08 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Why don't we give her the benefit of a doubt until we see her in action in a debate with Biden. I believe she will give him a run for his money. She is sensible, conservative, is not intimiated by the "good ole boy" system, is intelligent, educated and has 13 years of executive experience where Obama, Biden and McCain have none. Never mind her age, she has more gumption than anyone I have seen and she has created results. It was a good choice for McCain to make..he gave this a lot of thought and I still believe it will bring many intelligent women to vote for McCain. She is an asset not a detriment...BRAVO for a woman with integrity.
mymy | 8:09 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
up here in Alaska we call it Saradise since she became governor. We really like her.
she is a good candidate. Many who did not especially like McCain will now vote because she is on the ballot.
JENNIE | 8:24 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I THINK MCAIN PICKED THE BEST GO FOR IT YOU GOT MY VOTE
susan | 9:06 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
please if mccain died in office could she really be prez
Texas | 9:10 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I wanted McCain to pick Mitt Romney. But since it can't be him, then maybe we can accept Palin. She is a family person, has a great attitude, good standards and a very positive persona. She has a refreshing and strong personality. Romney would have been the best man for the country, but the evangelists saw to it that he would not be the pick. Hopefully, McCain will use him in his cabinet because the Country desperately needs his expertise and level head.
Melissa | 9:11 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Democrats are saying THANK YOU JOHN on this one! Mayor of a town of 5,700 people?! come on! And she certainly won't attract any of Hillary's supporters -the only thing they have in common is that they are both women.
martha Walden | 9:12 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I must say I was surprised and excited to here McCains choice. There was a man who broke the tie on womens right to vote.He was from a small town called Mouse Creek,Tenn(now called Niota,Tenn).Though he suffered from it,history was changed. Our country needs a man and a women in the white house to be able to see both sides. As a Mother she will have our childrens best interest. She will be able to step in where he falls short and vice-versa.May our flag fly high for we are all created equal.
MoJules | 9:19 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Wow, who saw this coming, I have to give McCain credit for having the news going in all directions. There are many issues that McCain is countering the Democrats with on this one lady. First, the Dem's twice rejected a woman this year, first as a presidential candidate and 2nd as VP. Second, Obama is terrible about abortion, we just heard of the Downs baby that was held for 45 minutes until it died. Palin choose to bring into this world one of those special spirits and to show that life is very precious. Third, Palin is not a "soccer mom" she is a hockey player, but she is a mother who is involved in work, community and her family. Fourth, she is a pretty face and a delicate woman, but I am sure that she is going to be a ball of fire when she goes up against Biden. Fifth, she is not going to just be a passive observer, she is going to make her feelings be known and fight for them. This woman is no dummy and they are going to have a hard time finding things to say negative about her. She has my vote.
doug | 9:40 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
The only thing better would be for McCain to trade places with her. Great Choice!
no name | 9:56 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
good choice John Mc Cain. We are democrats and we will vote for her. People criticising Gov. Palin
does'nt know the meaning of family values and hard work.
Shecky | 10:03 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I am amazed at the judgements made by those commenting on this selection. We've known her now for a few hours, and already everyone knows how this woman will save or destroy the nation. Unfortunately, these same people will be voting this fall. On the other hand, however, it won't matter much, because most folks in Utah blindly vote Republican anyway.
Gary | 10:20 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
We've got 4, inexperienced candidates. It comes down to, can a person learn, answer Yes. Executive experience is very important. I'm okay with Palin. Today, not enough experience, but certainly more executive experience. Ditto for the others, except no executive experience. The juries still out on her and the others. Obama's a talker, without much substance. I would trust Biden much more than Obama. I would trust McCain over both. Palen will prove to be better than both. That is my hope. We shall see. I think this is the first time we have had a non executive running for President. We just don't know what we have.
mymy | 10:35 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
gotta love a lady that named her child Van. Get it Van Palin. yeah, great, love it.
