McCain chooses Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as running mate

Finally, to get it out of the way...I've been telling y'all for months that Flip wasn't going to be the president or the vice president. I hate to say "I told you so...", but...there it is. Now let's all get behind McCain-Palin and get this horrible Obama out of our hair.
Oops--I wasn't supposed to tell anyone.
Get out a quarter and do a coin toss....we still lose, yet pay the bills.
One ticket is old with a no-experience partner. One has color but no experience and a old and Washington Insider who is a one sided partisan.
Tough choice. Thank Heaven for the right to pray ...........we'll need to.
Palin- Former beauty queen wanna be - mayor of Wansilla population 8000 - governor of ALASKA for 2 years - Idhao university graduate wih a BS in Journalism. NO FOREIGN POLICY experience.
Someone.anyone .please tell me who is less experienced and don't even let me compare her to joe biden. And you want me as a woman to fall for this nonsense. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
My intelligence has been insulted!!!!
2 words: Geraldine Ferraro.
Hate to break it to you, but the new Gallup tracking poll has Obama's lead widening to 8 points. Rasmussen has him up by 4. I don't know if you realized this, but the phone-in surveys on Faux news aren't actual polls.
To "Navel Gazing,"
Don't be ridiculous. Of course nobody has a problem with her being a woman. We have a problem with her because two years ago she was the snow plow dispatcher for Wasilla, Alaska, and her only foreign policy experience is being across the strait from Russia!
Also, I personally have a problem with the fact that her stance on abortion is farther to the right than the LDS Church's. She doesn't think abortion should be allowed in cases where a dad rapes his daughter.
Could it be because there is an "R" behind it?
While the rest of the United States scrambles to figure out who on earth Sarah Palin is, Joe Biden is about to find out what us Alaskans have known for years:
Sarah Palin chews up and spits out good ole boys (like Senator Biden) like last years moose jerky.
Sarah Palin handily defeated an incumbent governor Frank Murkowski. Murkowski left the US Senate to take the governor's job, but he was no match at all for Sarah.
This is one capable woman.
Like many Utahans, I was hoping it would be Mitt, but I'm thrilled it's Sarah.
Soon Utah and the rest of the US will figure out that Sarah Palin is a Reagan Republican in ever way, with the added benefit of being environmentally friendly.
This is a good thing for America.
2012? Does that mean you think McCain's going to win in 2008, but then step down or have a stroke or something?
By the way, I am a demo, but I don't wear boots. And "I" sometime "scream," but my "fears" don't.
To those of you reading, please check out your candidates on the issues that concern you the most. Ask them questions (email is wonderful for this) since these people are basically in a job interview with you as the boss. I always get scared when people just look for the 'D' or the 'R' behind someone's name when deciding on a candidate to vote for.
Does it really matter what goes on the middle of nowhere--somewhere endangered birds outnumber people.
Come on: 3 electoral votes, people. That is even less than Utah
Obama continues to fall in the polls. McCain by a landslide!
Just in case McCain and Palin don't win in 2008, let's look ahead to 2012. Mitt will get the Republican nomination, and he'll pick DIANNE M. KELLER, CURRENT MAYOR OF WASILLA, ALASKA as his running mate.
I wonder if she knows the difference between Sunni and Shia?
I didn't trust McCain in the first place. There is a lot of talk about him crossing the aisle to work with the Democrats. The trick is trying to get him to come back to the Republicans. It never happens.
Susan Palin has more experience setting policy, handling payroll, and making decisions than Obama, McCain and Biden combined.
They've legislated. None have run anything.
Being the mayor of a small town means you have to deal with people's concerns face-to-face --- roads, economic development, and crime.
Heading the Alaska commission that oversees the oil companies is a position fraught with the twin dangers of big money and big lobbyists. Yet, Palin cleaned out the corruption and focused on what was good for the people of Alaska.
As Governor, she cut spending, targeted corruptions and required ethical standards.
Her record is impressive. Many will make fun of her lack of Washington experience. Yet, she has been a bigger pro-family, pro-people reformer than almost the entire U.S. Congress.
She knows what it is like to pay bills, juggle family concerns and stand up for principles. She'll be the first woman to be V.P. This is a great day for the USA.
I'm enthused by this choice. Way to go John McCain!
Thank you for securing the election for Obama.
That said, should the old geezer take a dirt nap, I cannot envision her as being capable of dealing with the likes of Putin, Al Quaeda (sp?), or Iran. I thought the same thing of Bush by the way but was told "not to worry, he will surround himself with smart, capable people."
Confused ???
Palin has been a member of the City Council, a Mayor, Ethics Commissioner of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and Governor. Looks a lot more impressive than Community organizer and state senator and 3 years in the US Senate (which he spent most of his time running for Pres). Palin is an Ethics reformer, fought corruption in the Repub party in Alaska and fought pork barrel projects in her own state (bridge to nowhere). Most importantly, she has made decisions that have had a direct impact on her state and is a proven leader in her short political career.
You listed a bunch of postions obama has held but you never listed anything he has accomplished.
If it were up to me, I think I would like to see a presidential ticket made of people who know how to get things done and who aren't corrupted by years of service in government.
I think I would have liked an Obama/Palin ticket : )
She understands western issues, energy issues and issues important to sportsmen, Chaffetz said. This choice bodes well for Utah.
Chaffetz had the opportunity to meet with Palin for about an hour during his recent visit to ANWR. I was exceptionally impressed with her poise in the face of tough media questions and the way she was representing the State of Alaska as Governor, Chaffetz said.
