This pick is a master stroke by the McCain machine. She has red-state, blue
collar appeal; comes from regular folks..wasn't born with the silver spoon
like Flip; has a son serving in Iraq, unlike Flip; everything about this is a
win-win.

Oboma just won this election on VP strength versus VP strength alone. Is there a
more unpopulated state in the union than Alaska? And she hadn't even
completed one term as Governor. This is truly amazing. He needed someone with
more substance to balance his maverick streak just like Obama picked someone who
provided a nice balance. Mcain probably couldn't have chosen someone more
unqualified to potentially step into the role of commander and chief if he had
tried. A child with a disability does not a commander in chief make. Nor does
absolutely anything on her resume. This is truly a bazarre pick. And we Mormons
ought to get it by now. It's pretty much "thanks Romney for all your
help - we love you Mormons when we need you but in reality we don't really
like you".

I think the selection of Palin makes sense. But I think McCain will reward
Romney when he wins by selecting him as Secretary of the Treasury. That will
help him get experience before the Palin - Romney fight for the 2012 nominee.

I wasn't confident about voting for McCain before, but now I'm
definitely going to vote for him. Sarah Palin in my kind of woman (unlike
Hillary who paraded herself around like a man in a pantsuit). This woman is the
real deal...a washington outsider who hasn't been tainted by the same
people Obama and Biden have been tainted by. If McCain were to croak in office,
I would feel really good about having her take his place...she is awesome!

I was born and raised in Alaska and moved to Utah 2 years ago to be near our 3

While the rest of the United States scrambles to figure out who on earth Sarah Palin is, Joe Biden is about to find out what us Alaskans have known for years:
Sarah Palin chews up and spits out good ole boys (like Senator Biden) like last year�s moose jerky.
Sarah Palin handily defeated an incumbent governor Frank Murkowski. Murkowski left the US Senate to take the governor's job, but he was no match at all for Sarah.
This is one capable woman.
Like many Utahans, I was hoping it would be Mitt, but I'm thrilled it's Sarah.
Soon Utah and the rest of the US will figure out that Sarah Palin is a Reagan Republican in ever way, with the added benefit of being environmentally friendly.
This is a good thing for America.

Watch the federal bureaucrats run for cover when McCain/Palin are elected. Watch
the lobbyists squirm back to wherever they came from. Ethics reform is already

I was shocked with this choice. I didn't think that someone who impressed
me would be selected. Did Palin hand the White House to McCain? No. But I do
believe this will be an actual race instead of a race for the Democrats to loose
(like they did in 2004).

Ask them questions (email is wonderful for this) since these people are basically in a job interview with you as the boss. I always get scared when people just look for the 'D' or the 'R' behind someone's name when deciding on a candidate to vote for.

McCain has officially lost my vote. With all of the flaring World crisis
(Russia re-asserting itself in Georgia, the de-stabilization of Pakistan, Iran,
etc..) the last thing we need is an old, frail president with an inexperienced
VP a heart attack away from taking over.
I didn't trust McCain in the first place. There is a lot of talk about him crossing the aisle to work with the Democrats. The trick is trying to get him to come back to the Republicans. It never happens.

I have never voted democrat until this election. There is a faction of the
republican party that has taken the LDS vote for granted. McCain in numerous
subtle ways played the religion card during the primaries. McCain is a
Republican with Bill Clinton's moral values. Even though I do not agree
with all of Obamas views, I think he has a lot more character than McCain. I
will vote for Obama.

smarter choice than a first-term senator as a presidential candidate. At least
Palin has a list of accomplishments...what accomplishments does Obama have?

Susan Palin has more experience setting policy, handling payroll, and making decisions than Obama, McCain and Biden combined.
They've legislated. None have run anything.
Being the mayor of a small town means you have to deal with people's concerns face-to-face --- roads, economic development, and crime.
Heading the Alaska commission that oversees the oil companies is a position fraught with the twin dangers of big money and big lobbyists. Yet, Palin cleaned out the corruption and focused on what was good for the people of Alaska.
As Governor, she cut spending, targeted corruptions and required ethical standards.
Her record is impressive. Many will make fun of her lack of Washington experience. Yet, she has been a bigger pro-family, pro-people reformer than almost the entire U.S. Congress.
She knows what it is like to pay bills, juggle family concerns and stand up for principles. She'll be the first woman to be V.P. This is a great day for the USA.

Her personal views on abortion are IRRELEVANT. We have had Bush, A Republican
for 8 years and abortion is still safe and legal because the Supreme Court
ALREADY ruled on the issue years and years ago. What you might find interesting
is how Obama voted regarding the Baby Born Alive Protection Act. He voted
against it, even though Naral Prochoice America had no complaints. Do you
really think that nurses should be forced to do nothing when an abortion fails
and the baby is born alive? Fortunately he was the only opposition again, not
even Naral opposed the bill.

I think that McCain made the dumbest choice. Palin is a horrible choice. her
sister got divorced and Palin decided to get back at her ex-brother-in-law by
trying to get him fired from his state trooper job (Highway patrol down in
utah). The leader of the troopers said, no way, he is a fine officer and
hasn't done anything wrong and doesn't deserve to be fired. Beloved
Sarah had the boss fired and then got rid of her ex-brother-in-law. Nepotism is
alive and well in the great white north. Is this the kind of person we want
leading our country if McCain can't????

the choice. Palin seems like she knows how to run things. I have heard mostly
good things about her.
If it were up to me, I think I would like to see a presidential ticket made of people who know how to get things done and who aren't corrupted by years of service in government.

The new poll showing NObama's 8 point lead comes at the end of the
'rat convention- a predictable bounce. The 2 point lead from earlier in
the week that I mentioned came right after the Biden announcement which shows
