Were you not at the game when bingham lost to skyline...You Bingham fans are great at talking the talk but you don't even come close to walking the walk. You can't call yourself a champion until you prove to the world that you are one. Put up or shut up.
re:re:football | 8:16 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008
Man you are freakin hilarious. And you completely speak the truth. just another idea. If you really wanna see that paint do some magic, watch it run down a wall. THATS LIKE THREE GOOD HOURS OF FUN RIGHT THERE...You bring the paint, I'll cook the popcorn.
Darkhorse | 8:39 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008
Awe yes, football is back. And once again the Deseret News has failed to put one of the most prolific and dominating teams of all time in the top 25......MANTI.....MANTI.... Why does everyone always forget MANTI. They destroyed Richfield in week one. The Richfield Wildcats didn't know what hit them. Bring it on Hurricane, Cedar, and yes Timpview. Do you have what it takes to match up with MIGHTY MANTI!!!
GO TEMPLARS. GET IN THE TOP 25

I cheer for East and their hunky stars Zac and Corbin. Go Wildcats, er, Leopards
re:manti | 9:26 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008
Seriously...your a manti fan. Great. We are all happy that you support your local football team. The one problem is that manti isn't good enough to be in the top 25. They can't compete with the 5A teams that are ranked. Teams have to prove themselves before they get a glipse of the limelight. Complain about the ranking if you not ranked at you upset timpview or something, Not because, like half the teams in utah, you are still undefeated.
Robert | 9:41 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008
this year all the 5A and 4A teams are awesome, though timpveiw has not shown that they can be the team to beat this fall. the rankings are kinda jipped, and could be better. spanish fork may have lost to alta but is definetly ready for timpveiw. the t-birds had maybe two or three plays that made yards and moved the sticks. spanish fork i would have to say is the better team. there O is strong and hard core. but there d-fence will have to step up and make plays. it should be a tight game and down to the the nails. the high school football! guy person said that teams need to play the best teams in the state, and if you would look at spanish forks schedule. its up battling the best teams in the state, and they will be one of the teams to beat in the playoffs.

so GO DONS! and let the best team win
Cottonwood 35 Layton 6 | 10:19 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008
Good Luck Layton, this is where the nighmare begins for this Lancer team. After Cottonwood takes it to you on your own field you get to play Jordan and lose another game. I was at the game against Bonneville and you are not even close to last years team and that was before Jackson got hurt and left the game. If you can't score more than 20 points there is no way you will come close to Beating Cottonwood this week. Enjoy the last few days of your pre season hype.
cache valley | 11:16 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008
Its funny to listen to all you talk about who is the best. Not one time has any talk been about the three schools from chache valley. Logan, Sky View, and Mountain Crest are all the real deal. I think alot of you will be suprised at what they do by the end of the year.
Kaseray | 11:15 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008
GO WILDCATS!
Region 9 | 11:26 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008
If Orem defeats SC, SC will be 0 and 4 if you include last seasons final two games. A visit to Las Vegas following the Orem trip could find SC 0 and 5. OUCH!

THe good news is that SC has to only win one game this season to go to the state playoffs. If SC defeats Dixie (Maybe) or Pineview (Never), they will be playoff bound.

W.J. Booster | 12:27 a.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Where the H E doubble hockey sticks are the Jaguars in the rankings. They clobbered Lehi 2-0!
Get a clue Jags!!! Get rid of the coach and you'll go places!!!

Here we come.
East High former player | 2:00 a.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Wow, just wow.

14. East (1-0) Class: 4A

Was: 16. Points: 138. Last week: Beat Snow Canyon, 29-26.

You boosters were sure touting your coaching staff, at the expense of the students, just to get your kid some PT.

Same time I was letting you all know what a "dog" Eldracher was, you were too busy polishing the pedastal to place him on.

It would be nice to have a Principal at East who had principles, who would look out for the students and all the student athletes, instead of letting the boosters push him around.

I told you all here first, and dang, but I love it when I'm right.

One quick question for the East High Booster that was posting that the principal would do what the boosters wanted, because that's the way it is.

29-26, "What's a Snow Canyon"?
Manti ??? | 8:07 a.m. Aug. 27, 2008
What's a Manti ??? j/k ... I'm sure you have an incredible football team that is vastly underrated and will take state in whatever classification it is in. There... Feel better ???
Cowboys | 8:38 a.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Kanab could beat all these teams. I dont understand why we never get respected. Come down to 1A and we'll show you how to play. I just don't get why we didn't get at least 30 points?
anonymous | 8:45 a.m. Aug. 27, 2008
kanab will be the 5A state champs this year no questions asked.
4A vs. 5A | 9:02 a.m. Aug. 27, 2008
This week there are at least 10 games in where 4A will play 5A teams. 4A will go 7-3 or better against the 5A. I also pick the below 4A teams to win as well.

Cottonwood 38 Layton 17
East 27 Skyline 17
Highland 27 Am Fork 20
4A vs. 5A | 10:15 a.m. Aug. 27, 2008
What?? Seriously 7-3 after 3-8 last week. Not so fast. Cottonwood maybe but East and Highland better get ready for a beat down. No chance.
GCHS fan | 11:04 a.m. Aug. 27, 2008
so everyone is wrong at the end of the year grand is gonna be number one!!! there line is HUGE and the back field is full of studs and the quarterback gets 120 rushing yards in his first varsity game... and hes a back up fillin in! and they can catch there the real deal they can kick to so i predict devils #1!!!
My Predictions | 11:29 a.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Bountiful 14 Clearfield 10
Mtn. Crest 21 Fremont 7
Cottonwood 27 Layton 21
Syracuse 21 Woodscross 10
Weber 28 Bonneville 7
Hillcrest 17 Murray 9
Skyline 24 East 13
Copper Hills 24 Box Elder 14

Pleasant Grove 42 Provo 10
Springville 27 Lehi 3
American Fork 24 Highland 17
Mountain View 27 West Jordan 17
Kearns 24 Cyprus 14

That gives 8 wins to 5A and 6 to 4A
LHS | 11:44 a.m. Aug. 27, 2008
It is going to be embarassing this week when Cottonwood beats us. This is why I wish our fans would keep quiet. It would be a different story if it was last years team but we don't have a leg to stand on this year.
Todd | 11:44 a.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Your first mistake was watching low quality futbol in the olympics. Everyone knows that the legit players never play in the Olympics. If you wanted to introduce someone to real football you wouldn't take them to the AFL, you'd take them to the NFL. America doesn't appreciate soccer because they've only seen water downed soccer in the MLS. Watch all the soccer in Europe or the World Cup and you will understand the game.
4A vs. 5A | 12:15 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
I agree with the last post, East will not beat Skyline this year and Highland Might beat AF if they don't turn the ball over 6 times. Turn it over 6 times and you deserve to lose. Cottonwood will Beat Layton and keep the streak alive over 5A teams.
re:todd | 12:55 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
this is a football forum. We all played soccer like the first five years of our lives, then we matured and wanted more.
Cowboys ?? | 1:27 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Wheres Kanab? Is that somewhere in Utah? Do they play 11 man football?
football fan | 2:05 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
layton 35 cottonwood 0 What fantasy world are you living in.With your running back hurt you will be lucky to finish 3rd in region 1. Layton has one good season. Lets put a few in a row first. Or is one good season considered a winning streak to you
nridge fan | 3:33 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Bring it crespi!
Todd | 3:39 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Of course i'm more of a fan of football i was just explaining quality soccer to someone who knows nothing about it. Funny even layton fans know they are overhyped. N Ridge and Davis will battle to take Region One, Alta with Skyline after for Region two, Bingham for Region Three, and American Fork or Lone Peak for Region Four.

RC | 3:57 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
For whoever asked who's going to replace LaVaughn Jackson.....Karl Williams & Shea Kopecky will get time to shine. Williams being looked at by several colleges....he's a bruiser, and fast. Kopecky, blazing speed. Yeah, they're not a LaVAughn Jackson.....but they'll beat you up. Layton's D will stop Cottonwood WHEN THEY NEED TO.
2a fan | 4:01 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
"darkhorse" what a comedian you are ...
I laugh ! Get out of your dreamworld !
Manti wins their first game and now should be rated higher than 4a & 5a teams???
Aste is a great kid - Manti's QB - but not good
enough for the big boys ! And I also laugh at
"cowboy" Kanab fan - come on ?
I know how deep 4a & 5a teams are when it comes to talent...
Stay out of this discussion.
If anything should be done here is that -
Deseret news should have a 3a to 1a top 25 count.
re:todd | 6:34 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Soccer sucks, I don't care how you try to spin it. I would watch any football or baseball anywhere, If i have to watch the best players in the world in order for it to be worth watching. Then it isn't worth watching. Get out of my country communist!!

If there is a Judge it's a competition
If there is a finish line it's a race
If there is no over time it's not a sport either (soccer)
DARKHORSE | 7:33 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Dear Grand Fan, NOT EVEN!!! Who do you have to take you all the way. From what I seen last year there's NO ONE coming up. What did you do, have another "Hippie" move in?
And kanab, don't you remember we KILLED you last year. Get outta here little boys.
So Millard got destroyed last week. Where's that millard fan "Carter". Seems you girl scouts are a little quiet since you can't even beat a bunch of kids from Hurricane.
GO TEMPLARS, TAKE STATE
I expect Manti will be #19 next week. Well above Timpview.

"Obviously you don't get it. Just because Lone Peak beat Bountiful doesn't all of a sudden make them better in the rankings! It is an overall thing. Each writer ranks them and you get 25 points for being ranked 1st and 1 point for being ranked 25th. Then they add up all the points and that is how they have this ranking! So in reality, some of the writers probably put Lone Peak over Bountiful, just not all of them. If you are going to comment on the board, then please, try and make it somewhat intelligent."

You are the one lacking between the ears...

At least one person had to rank Bountiful ahead of LP for this to occur.

NOBODY should rank Bountiful ahead of LP. To Voters: At least read the scores before you vote!

Anonymous | 10:55 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
....don't act all smart like you know what you're talking about when in reality you have no idea. There are two periods of Extra Time in soccer and then if the game is still level they have a shoot out. Quit embarrassing yourself.
SLC Fan | 11:23 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
My predictions:

Cottonwood 35 Layton 7
Highland 38 American Fork 10
East 42 Skyline 14

Voila!
Shootout ? | 7:03 a.m. Aug. 28, 2008
In this shootout, do they squirt each other with those cute little juice boxes?

To- To:Re:Doc:

Of course at least one person had to rank Bountiful higher, in my post I said "some of the writer probably put Lone Peak over Bountiful, just not all of them" It was the first game, Lone Peak was weak last season, Bountiful was not... just because they lose their first game, the voters aren't going to all of a sudden think they are horrible, Lone Peak should win a couple games before they start thinking they should be ranked so high. Like I said before, if you are going to post on the board, please make it sound somewhat intelligent.
Re: SLC Fan | 10:09 a.m. Aug. 28, 2008
your predictions....WOW.... Really??? All Blowouts??? You are kidding right? Picking Highland and East to win is a stretch at best, but for 4 TD blowouts in all 3 games. Time to head to Idaho and get some lottery tickets. Better odds you will win the Powerball
Anonymous | 11:26 a.m. Aug. 28, 2008
How can they be the 5A champs at the end of the season when they lost to this years Alta varsity team when they were Sophomores... oh yes and Juniors? Are they not the same group of players? Did Bingham all of a sudden do somehting spectacular to beat them?
Anonymous | 12:47 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
It's called playing the best players from 9th -12th grade. The players will be different than the previous 2 years. It is really funny how individuals think they won last year so automatically they think they are better this year. Last year several jr players were playing varsity so Bingham did not give them their best players. Bingham is mad and will totally dominate Alta for the average team they are.
You watch it will start with the Soph and JR today mark my word. It will be bad for Alta. I can hear the excuses already.
Bingham Sophs | 1:17 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
I am sure you are right. With all the Hype around the Bingham Sophomores, you would think they could simply cut all the Varsity and JV guys and just go with the Sophs and win state. Go Hawks
To: Friday Night Rider | 2:02 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Anybody who voted Bountiful ahead of LP is not smart.

Your explanations are stupid.

Somebody made a mistake.

If this was the 2nd game or mid-season there MAY be as case to be made. But not with ONE GAME PLAYED.

There is no intelligent explanation at all why Bountiful is ranked ahead of LP with only one game played.

It was 20-0!!!!! I don't care about LP. This is a common sense issue, not a fan issue. Gain some common sense.

Trash Talk | 2:03 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Sophmores or not this is just a bunch of GARBAGE (pun intended) Just bring it to the field and we'll see what happens. I'm sure you'll have the excuses like "it early" or "he got hurt in practice Thursday" Bring it to the field and let the game decide. We'll see who can keep their helmets on and who goes home with their tail between their legs...
Friday Night Rider | 3:46 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Dear To:Friday Night Rider at 2:02

I am also not a fan of Bountiful or Lone Peak. I was at the game, and Lone Peak looked great while Bountiful looked anything but. I for one think that Lone Peak is underatted and Bountiful is overrated, however, I am using commen sense you are not. You do not know how rankings work apparently. If Bountiful is ranked high, and Lone Peak is not ranked and Lone Peak wins, that doesn't automatically put them ahead of Bountiful in the rankings. It's only one game. Bountiful was predicted to be better than Lone Peak, so, now Bountiful has to prove themselves and Lone Peak does as well. By the way, the score was 21-0, so I will say for the third time, if you are going to post, try and post something intelligent. And anyways, they are rankings they don't really matter.
ALTA HAWKS #53 | 7:10 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
First off i just wanna say that we are going to CRUSH bingham on friday! we are the better team by far, we've worked all summer and are stronger, faster, smarter, and just better than bingham is. Bingham never hits the weights like we do either! Our line is going to physically dominate theirs and allow alex rivas and his 4.12 speed to run for atleast 200 yards and my boy ammon is gonna get atleast 200 yards passing w/ 4 touchdowns to PW!! We ARE the best team this state has seen in the past 20 or 30 years! one way to sum things up is "getcha popcorn ready!!"
ALTA HAWKS #53 | 7:59 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
4.12 40? Is that for 30 Yards? How much glue did you sniff before you wrote this post? you realize how fast a 4.12 40 is? The fastest at the NFL combine was 4.29 and he went in the 1st round. Get a clue and quit with all these fake 40 times. I am neither a fan of Bingham or Alta and could care less who wins this Game of 2 over hyped teams. Neither will win 5A this year.
to re bhs | 8:38 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
so i guess the season is measured on the opening game? you might wanna think of that. its one game!! dont forget bingham ever. any powerhouse team such as bingham alta skyline brighton fremont northridge.. any of those schools can turn things around.. so if you wanna base the season on 1 game good luck man because as far as i know it has 10 more games to go!!!!
THE REAL ALTA #53 | 8:57 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
nope, you are surely mistaken. i saw it with my own 2 eyes. We are gonna run up the score board on bingham, along with any other team we may face this season!! State CHampionship here we were come!!!!! Any one who doubts must've eaten a bunch of stupid boy sandwhiches!! ahhh yeahh its goin down!
re:Kanab | 9:51 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
