Open your wallets because he is coming to get your money! Don't donate to
him now because you'll need all you can get for him if he wins. Don't
plan on any new drilling or refineries they might scare a polar bear. Maybe he
can get more online donations from his over seas constituants. That will help
relieve our tax burdens. Maybe some of his friends in Iran will help us just
because of the family name.

Obama appears from this article to be a good and decent man. But, I've
observed a lot in his speeches, that he just doesn't have the experience.
I am also concerned about many of his past associates thaat should ultimately be
a concern for everyone. In our choosing, let us remember the Lord's
counsel. We have an obligation to do careful research on all the candidates -
which this scripture applies to.

Lets see Obama 2008, Anti War, Anti Military, Pro Abortion. Pro Partial Birth
Abortion. Pro Open Borders. Pro National Health Care, Pro Government Paid for
College, Anti Draft. Drinks, Smokes, admits to smoking dope. A Moral at Best.
Thinks he is Black. So to Vote for him I would have to put aside every Moral
Stand or Value I might have. Think Not!

I am a "typical white person" who is not a "citizen of the
world" but is a citizen of the United States. I don't "speak
French." I actually speak English. I am looking for a candidate who is
NOT A ROOKIE, but is EXPERIENCED, QUALIFIED, strong on national defense, opposed
to tax increases, believes in protecting the lives of "fetuses" who
are already out of the womb and is not a far-left socialist.
For all the above reasons (as well as others), I am NOT going to be able to support "Barak America."

Its a shame that people define their morality in this state with the Republican
party. I recently was in a discussion about these issues with some my friends.
They said that they vote Republican because in the end you have to vote the
moral issues. But a lot of good that does, in 8 years with Bush and until
recently a Republican majority in congress there's still abortion folks. I
think if more people investigated canidates and opened their minds they'd
realize that the best person is defined by a political party. The two party
system is a disservice to the American people anyway. Obama inspires people,
cares about his country and its future, and restores peoples will to believe
that they can make a difference. Inexpereinced yes, but what prepares you to be
the President of the United States, having been a POW, giving huge tax breaks to
big oil, flip-flopped so many times no one knows what you believe, having
realligned your political affiliations and stances just before and during the
nomination process so that clueless red states can think you're
republican??? Voting McCain as the moral issue? Think NOT!!!

Like all politicians, Obama has charisma enough to charm people under controlled
conditions when he is "in character" as a public persona. The true
measure of a man is what he is like when there are no cameras, no recording
devices, and he is not surrounded only by fawning admirers who interpret his
expressions of thanks as evidence of his decency and basic goodness. How does
the man treat those who work for him when no one is looking? How does the man
treat his family? Does the man even talk to average people UNLESS cameras are
present? To judge a politician of either party worthy of support and admiration
based on his canned statements and smiling handshakes with those who already
support him is dangerous and will result in our electing the most genuine
on-camera personalities rather than electing men or women who have
qualifications and experience for the job in question, not media soundbites.

I do not need to, nor do I want to know Mr. Obama any better than I already do.
Just to hear him give one of his speeches tells me to run the other way, and
fast. The things he espouses in each of his talks comes right out of Karl
Marx's writings. I do not want to bust my tail end to support my family,
only to have this man reach into my wallet and take the money I worked for, and
give it to some ne'er-do-well. Then turn around and complain I'm not
doing enough.

Sen. Biden adds a good bit of strength to this, in his straight talk way, he is not worried about how many people like him, he speaks his beliefs.

When Mr. Obama was a state Senator from Illinois, he voted "Present"
the majority of the time. He did this so he wouldn't have to take a stand
on an issue, one way or the other. Is this the kind of person you want to be

I just don't get you people! All that most everyone talks about and
banters back and forth over on these political issues, is which party will do
the better job, who's more moral than the other, who will support this and
that, etc, etc, etc.
It's really becoming annoying! Why? Because none of you take a step back and think about the fact that neither party has ever fufilled a promise they've made while campaigning; and, that the democrats are as much at fault, if not more, for Bush's follies because they have control of both houses and have bought into everything this administration has demanded (instead of cliping his wings and impeaching him for what's done to this country and our Constitution). Our economy is on the brink of collapse - another war or somee other catastrophic event will destoy what's left of our soverignty and freedoms. If nothing else sinks in, please remember this, the two-party system is a sham and a dilusion - just to keep up us occupied and in a position of thinking "all is well".
There's another choice - the American Constitution Party! We may not win, but we can send a clear message.

McCain hasn't actually voted in the Senate in almost a year. When he was
actually performing his duties as a representative of the people of AZ he voted
against the Martin Luther King holiday (and recently lied about that) and voted
to give tax breaks to corporations that send jobs overseas (once they
contributed to his campaign).

People talk about experience, what experience really qualifies someone for the
presidency? Law making, no. Law makers are not woken up at 3am for a military
decision. Would Military commanding prepare someone? Maybe, but not fully as
there are other aspects to a presidency such as education, diplomacy, issues of
state. Bottom line there is no real experience, that is what the cabinet is
for, pick specialists in each field and make them your cabinet.

Being LDS, I am flabbergasted to read some of these comments...if having an
adulterous affair is not okay for the democrats, then why would it be for the
republicans? Utah, please don't make hypocites of yourselves--what was
wrong for Clinton, John Edwards, etc. is still wrong when it comes to McCain and
any of the republicans. Our "war hero"(survivor is the right word)
had an affair after returing from Vietnam and that's why he is on wife
number 2(or is that 3???). D&C 98:10 is right...now let's see what Utah
does with this--we LDS from afar are watching. Please check out the facts about
each candidate--and not just vote the party line. If you're happy with the
current state of affairs in our great nation, then vote McCain. If not, then
vote Obama for some change. Either way, remember who created the mess we are in
and try not to blame the next administration.

Do you remember when we used to talk about term limits? How we used to loathe
"career politicians?" We wanted raw Americans in office; men and women
who were every-day people, willing to serve their country for a short time and
then return to work with the rest of us. We felt that the best people to
represent us were our own peers.
Have we forgotten that many of our forefathers would today amount to no more than the college rabble? Yet they stood up and shook the established powers to their core. They gave us one of the finest Republics to have ever existed.
Along comes Senator Obama, who has not been around long enough to become a career politician. He has much of the appeal of humble and genuine America, but his critics say nothing if not "he lacks experience." If you listen to their words, only the "good ol' boys club" must have what it takes to run America - never mind what the lessons of History tell us!
To me, Obama appeals precisely because he lacks the "experience" of a career politician. The things I find unappealing have more to do with ideology.

If you want higher gas prices, vote Obama.

This papers readership is a very scary reality of what Utah is really like. The

I posted comments earlier that directly stated that while Dems may be Tax &
Spend, the Republicans are Indebt & Spend. (The DeseretNews must have lost
its journalistic neutrality, for whatever reason as they censored my comment
from being posted.)
Fact is, any economics 101 course and hard lessons of history show that To pay as we go (Tax & Spend) is far healthier and safer than the Republican party's penchant to bury the nation under debt (Indebt & Spend) that will take future generations years to undo. Yes! It's simple economic reality.
Time for this nation to get back to paying as we go, and that means in order to 'spend,' which both political parties do, we need to pay as we go, and that means 'TAXES!' Don't want the infrastructure, then don't tax OR indebt. Don't want to assist small business growth, then don't tax OR indebt. Don't want a drug out war for decades to come, then don't tax OR indebt. If these or any other things are desired by the electorate, then by all means Tax don't indebt!
Vote Democratic if you really want to get back to a truly 'balanced' budget!
Fact is, any economics 101 course and hard lessons of history show that To pay as we go (Tax & Spend) is far healthier and safer than the Republican party's penchant to bury the nation under debt (Indebt & Spend) that will take future generations years to undo. Yes! It's simple economic reality.
Time for this nation to get back to paying as we go, and that means in order to 'spend,' which both political parties do, we need to pay as we go, and that means 'TAXES!' Don't want the infrastructure, then don't tax OR indebt. Don't want to assist small business growth, then don't tax OR indebt. Don't want a drug out war for decades to come, then don't tax OR indebt. If these or any other things are desired by the electorate, then by all means Tax don't indebt!
Vote Democratic if you really want to get back to a truly 'balanced' budget!

Among the reasons to vote for Obama is the fact that McCain is already
evidencing dementia. He can't remember who are the partisans in Iraq. He
forgets when he's talking about Iraq and Afghanistan. He can't
remember bills he's voted on or even what his position on issues is when
quizzed.
He's not equipped for the Presidency and then he goes spouting the same cowboy "to the gates of Hell" nonsense that Bush used to get us into this morass in the Middle East.
Why has John McCain spent 3 decades in the Senate and all we know about him is the McCain/Feingold campaign reform legislation that he's now violating, his involvement in the Keating Five and that he was a prisoner of war before that?
He's not equipped for the Presidency and then he goes spouting the same cowboy "to the gates of Hell" nonsense that Bush used to get us into this morass in the Middle East.

You can get less pay on your paycheck if you vote for Obama, or,
you can pay more out of your wallet (inflation, inflation, inflation...) if you vote for McCain.
Either way you pay more. At least with higher taxes we get the Republican debt-fest paid down and the budget balanced... that's the responsible thing for patriotic and rational voters to do... VOTE DEMOCRATIC in November!
