D&C 98:10 "Wherefore, honest men and wise men should be sought for diligently, and good men and wise men ye should observe to uphold; otherwise whatsoever is less than these cometh of evil".
Let's hope this forum improves this week.
To review someone's scribblings:
Obama 2008: anti war (having seen war, he is right you know... ever watched the bodybags hit the tarmack? I have. I choose a guy who is seeking peace, not war, war, war.)
Anti-military? Where is your evidence?
Pro-women's rights. Right on. A rape child is not a love child.
Pro open borders? Where is your evidence? Has Bush's policies worked? Thought so. Opps on that one, eh.
Pro-national health care: thank you Jesus.
Anti-draft? Who isn't?
Obama drinks? So do I, a good wine is nice at dinner, my friends. A cold beer with a bbq? Oh my, delicious.
Note please: McCain did divorce his wife while she was in the hospital, and took up with the millionairess. Talk about your family values! Kiss that issue hello.
Sorry. Your bitterness that a black, well educated black man, is ahead of you in line to success and glory is all that is bothering you. Get over it. Move on.
The Shadow Knows.
It is quite a load. But Obama is the only candidate who truly gives us hope. This time, hope is a strategy. The old ways, bomb bomb bomb Iran, will simply not work.
Go Obama.
For all the above reasons (as well as others), I am NOT going to be able to support "Barak America."
If not, why did you at it to your list.
Barry Obama? No thanks.
Sen. Biden adds a good bit of strength to this, in his straight talk way, he is not worried about how many people like him, he speaks his beliefs.
Whereas Sen. Obama is too worried about what people think about him.
I see 2 potential problems: Sen. Biden will overshadow Sen. Obama with his strength, or, Sen. Obama will keep Sen. Biden under his thumb.
AIMHO
Kieth in Colorado- Wisdom doesn't necessarily come with experience. I know many wise young people who have learned from others mistakes instead of relying themselves to make mistakes.
McCain has NUMEROUS associates who did and should have landend in jail, and he himself has been repeatedly tied to scandles that cost U.S. taxpayers millions of dollars in the 80s and early 90's.... you need to know your facts... this is a HUGE concern for me regarding McCain...so perhaps you should take your own counsel and learn the facts about both candidates.
Barack's genuine integrity shows in his countenence- as it is witnessed in this article. I also would suggest reading "Audacity of Hope" to know him better....or are you too afraid of what you might find out???????
"I wish that the average Utahn would explore beyond the vitriol they hear from hate-radio hosts. It's so easy to turn one's brain off and believe all that is propagated by Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and others. Read a little deeper and you will see a very caring, motivated and capable leader," he said.
What does he mean by the "Average Utahn"?
If he read the book 'Audacity of Hope', then he didn't read what I read!
HUH? Where does THAT come from? Hawaii became a state in 1959. Obama was born in the State of Hawaii in 1961.
It's a good thing that Utah doesn't matter a BIT on the political scene, because the majority of voters here believe ANYTHING they are told by the right-wing radio hate machine.
(Did you know that McCain was born in Panama, which IS NOT a state?)
Hawaii has been a state since 1959.
Sheesh.
Abraham Lincoln - 10 years combined in IL legislature (8 yrs) and US House (2 yrs)
Theodore Roosevelt - 4 years combined experience as Asst. Sec. of Navy (3 yrs) and VP (1 yr)
Woodrow Wilson - 2 years as governor of NJ
Ronald Reagan - 8 years as governor of CA
George W. Bush - 6 years as governor of TX
After all, Abraham Lincoln only served a single term and we all know what a disaster he was, right?
George W Bush drank and allegedly did drugs in college. He was also arrested for DUI when he was 30.
John McCain has been involved in a number of scandals: "The Keating Five" corruption scandal in the 80s, and more recently he has been accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a lobbyist. His wife, Cindy, moreover, abused prescription drugs and even stole them from her own charitable organization. (This is all well-documented, so don't even think about censoring this, desnews staff, because doing so reveals your lack of journalistic neutrality.)
He may be a nice guy, but he is soooo unready to lead this country.
He may have had a chance with Billary, but with Biden? No chance.
Mr. McCain wouldn't be my first choice by a long shot. But he is the better choice of the two.
And for you third partiers: Your candidate may be better, but doesn't have a chance of winning.
Senator Biden: "These times require more than a good soldier. They require a wise leader."
McCain is a soldier. But Obama is this wise leader.
Go Obama & Biden!
It's really becoming annoying! Why? Because none of you take a step back and think about the fact that neither party has ever fufilled a promise they've made while campaigning; and, that the democrats are as much at fault, if not more, for Bush's follies because they have control of both houses and have bought into everything this administration has demanded (instead of cliping his wings and impeaching him for what's done to this country and our Constitution). Our economy is on the brink of collapse - another war or somee other catastrophic event will destoy what's left of our soverignty and freedoms. If nothing else sinks in, please remember this, the two-party system is a sham and a dilusion - just to keep up us occupied and in a position of thinking "all is well".
There's another choice - the American Constitution Party! We may not win, but we can send a clear message.
Awesomeron, no one is pro-abortion, it is called pro-choice, and does his stance really affect his leadership ability? No, it is just an issue designed to draw attention away from other important issues, like war. What is wrong with the government paying for college? They already pay for high school, is that bad? If the government didn't fund colleges, we would be left with only BYU here in Utah. A guy that drinks and smokes, sounds like a lot of other Americans. Admitted to doing dope, most teenager experiment with dope. The more important question would be does he continue to use it? Is it more important who a man was or is? Look at King David and Saul or Paul.
P.S. There is a socialist party, they just don't get much press. Pretty sure they don't like Obama either.
Have we forgotten that many of our forefathers would today amount to no more than the college rabble? Yet they stood up and shook the established powers to their core. They gave us one of the finest Republics to have ever existed.
Along comes Senator Obama, who has not been around long enough to become a career politician. He has much of the appeal of humble and genuine America, but his critics say nothing if not "he lacks experience." If you listen to their words, only the "good ol' boys club" must have what it takes to run America - never mind what the lessons of History tell us!
To me, Obama appeals precisely because he lacks the "experience" of a career politician. The things I find unappealing have more to do with ideology.
If you like waiting for a long period of time to get medical treatment, vote Obama.
If you want higher gas prices, vote Obama.
If you want appeasement with those who want to kill us, vote Obama.
Obama is playing the race card for sure, do as i say, not as i do.
This election scares me to death, oh wait, i will get taxed for that too!
Socilized medicine is now what we want or need. Control costs of care and insurance and make it affordable for everyone. Government run health care would be a disaster!
The president only has so much power, Congress is the group that has truly failed us all. Time for term limits on the House and Senate!!
Fact is, any economics 101 course and hard lessons of history show that To pay as we go (Tax & Spend) is far healthier and safer than the Republican party's penchant to bury the nation under debt (Indebt & Spend) that will take future generations years to undo. Yes! It's simple economic reality.
Time for this nation to get back to paying as we go, and that means in order to 'spend,' which both political parties do, we need to pay as we go, and that means 'TAXES!' Don't want the infrastructure, then don't tax OR indebt. Don't want to assist small business growth, then don't tax OR indebt. Don't want a drug out war for decades to come, then don't tax OR indebt. If these or any other things are desired by the electorate, then by all means Tax don't indebt!
Vote Democratic if you really want to get back to a truly 'balanced' budget!
tics are blood suckers. have I made my point? Democrat or Republican, "poli-tics" fits them all!!!!
"The Master has Arrived"
He's not equipped for the Presidency and then he goes spouting the same cowboy "to the gates of Hell" nonsense that Bush used to get us into this morass in the Middle East.
Why has John McCain spent 3 decades in the Senate and all we know about him is the McCain/Feingold campaign reform legislation that he's now violating, his involvement in the Keating Five and that he was a prisoner of war before that?
you can pay more out of your wallet (inflation, inflation, inflation...) if you vote for McCain.
Either way you pay more. At least with higher taxes we get the Republican debt-fest paid down and the budget balanced... that's the responsible thing for patriotic and rational voters to do... VOTE DEMOCRATIC in November!
