Open your wallets because he is coming to get your money! Don't donate to him now because you'll need all you can get for him if he wins. Don't plan on any new drilling or refineries they might scare a polar bear. Maybe he can get more online donations from his over seas constituants. That will help relieve our tax burdens. Maybe some of his friends in Iran will help us just because of the family name.

Obama appears from this article to be a good and decent man. But, I've observed a lot in his speeches, that he just doesn't have the experience. I am also concerned about many of his past associates thaat should ultimately be a concern for everyone. In our choosing, let us remember the Lord's counsel. We have an obligation to do careful research on all the candidates - which this scripture applies to.

D&C 98:10 "Wherefore, honest men and wise men should be sought for diligently, and good men and wise men ye should observe to uphold; otherwise whatsoever is less than these cometh of evil".

Lets see Obama 2008, Anti War, Anti Military, Pro Abortion. Pro Partial Birth Abortion. Pro Open Borders. Pro National Health Care, Pro Government Paid for College, Anti Draft. Drinks, Smokes, admits to smoking dope. A Moral at Best. Thinks he is Black. So to Vote for him I would have to put aside every Moral Stand or Value I might have. Think Not!

Shadow finds some narrow thinking already on today's forum. How sad. Too early in the day and the week for such childish and illogical thinking.
Let's hope this forum improves this week.

To review someone's scribblings:
Obama 2008: anti war (having seen war, he is right you know... ever watched the bodybags hit the tarmack? I have. I choose a guy who is seeking peace, not war, war, war.)

Anti-military? Where is your evidence?

Pro-women's rights. Right on. A rape child is not a love child.

Pro open borders? Where is your evidence? Has Bush's policies worked? Thought so. Opps on that one, eh.

Pro-national health care: thank you Jesus.

Anti-draft? Who isn't?

Obama drinks? So do I, a good wine is nice at dinner, my friends. A cold beer with a bbq? Oh my, delicious.

Note please: McCain did divorce his wife while she was in the hospital, and took up with the millionairess. Talk about your family values! Kiss that issue hello.

Sorry. Your bitterness that a black, well educated black man, is ahead of you in line to success and glory is all that is bothering you. Get over it. Move on.

The Shadow Knows.

I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone in this country would support a socialist.

The next president of the United States has to endorse change. He has to accept limitations. He has to cure what Bush has messed up on.

It is quite a load. But Obama is the only candidate who truly gives us hope. This time, hope is a strategy. The old ways, bomb bomb bomb Iran, will simply not work.

Go Obama.

Not to mention that he wasn't actually born in the United States, and should not be allowed to run for president. Has anyone else noticed that the democratic party is boarding dangerously close to socialism

I am a "typical white person" who is not a "citizen of the world" but is a citizen of the United States. I don't "speak French." I actually speak English. I am looking for a candidate who is NOT A ROOKIE, but is EXPERIENCED, QUALIFIED, strong on national defense, opposed to tax increases, believes in protecting the lives of "fetuses" who are already out of the womb and is not a far-left socialist.

For all the above reasons (as well as others), I am NOT going to be able to support "Barak America."

Maybe the Deseret News should just propose to Obama. I've never seen the media so sickeningly in love with a mediocre candidate before.

Its a shame that people define their morality in this state with the Republican party. I recently was in a discussion about these issues with some my friends. They said that they vote Republican because in the end you have to vote the moral issues. But a lot of good that does, in 8 years with Bush and until recently a Republican majority in congress there's still abortion folks. I think if more people investigated canidates and opened their minds they'd realize that the best person is defined by a political party. The two party system is a disservice to the American people anyway. Obama inspires people, cares about his country and its future, and restores peoples will to believe that they can make a difference. Inexpereinced yes, but what prepares you to be the President of the United States, having been a POW, giving huge tax breaks to big oil, flip-flopped so many times no one knows what you believe, having realligned your political affiliations and stances just before and during the nomination process so that clueless red states can think you're republican??? Voting McCain as the moral issue? Think NOT!!!

Behind the mask | 7:43 a.m. Aug. 25, 2008
Like all politicians, Obama has charisma enough to charm people under controlled conditions when he is "in character" as a public persona. The true measure of a man is what he is like when there are no cameras, no recording devices, and he is not surrounded only by fawning admirers who interpret his expressions of thanks as evidence of his decency and basic goodness. How does the man treat those who work for him when no one is looking? How does the man treat his family? Does the man even talk to average people UNLESS cameras are present? To judge a politician of either party worthy of support and admiration based on his canned statements and smiling handshakes with those who already support him is dangerous and will result in our electing the most genuine on-camera personalities rather than electing men or women who have qualifications and experience for the job in question, not media soundbites.

Right on AWESOMERON! A vote for Obama would be treachery to every value every reasonable American holds to! Not that McCain is much better, but I figure this year that my vote for McCain is not really a vote for him, but a vote against OBAMANATION!

I do not need to, nor do I want to know Mr. Obama any better than I already do. Just to hear him give one of his speeches tells me to run the other way, and fast. The things he espouses in each of his talks comes right out of Karl Marx's writings. I do not want to bust my tail end to support my family, only to have this man reach into my wallet and take the money I worked for, and give it to some ne'er-do-well. Then turn around and complain I'm not doing enough.

Barry Obama? No thanks.

Obama & Biden | 7:56 a.m. Aug. 25, 2008
I heard the best quote: "This is a kangaroo ticket, very strong back legs, but very weak front legs."

Sen. Biden adds a good bit of strength to this, in his straight talk way, he is not worried about how many people like him, he speaks his beliefs.

Whereas Sen. Obama is too worried about what people think about him.

I see 2 potential problems: Sen. Biden will overshadow Sen. Obama with his strength, or, Sen. Obama will keep Sen. Biden under his thumb.

So, "Awesomeron" you think McCain who is Pro-Lying, Pro-deciet, can't talk about real issues, back-bitting, full of pride, arrogant, my-way-is-the-only way, candidate is the best choice? You're ignorance about Obama's positions shows as well as your bigotry.

Kieth in Colorado- Wisdom doesn't necessarily come with experience. I know many wise young people who have learned from others mistakes instead of relying themselves to make mistakes.

McCain has NUMEROUS associates who did and should have landend in jail, and he himself has been repeatedly tied to scandles that cost U.S. taxpayers millions of dollars in the 80s and early 90's.... you need to know your facts... this is a HUGE concern for me regarding McCain...so perhaps you should take your own counsel and learn the facts about both candidates.

Barack's genuine integrity shows in his countenence- as it is witnessed in this article. I also would suggest reading "Audacity of Hope" to know him better....or are you too afraid of what you might find out???????

No. Utah sees a major earthquake every 350 years. Last one? 350 years ago.
