Utahns urged to adopt water-wise practices

We'll conserve water or else. Two quick suggestions that won't be popular: forget the long "Hollywood" shower. Water on to get wet, water off. Lather. Water on, rinse. Repeat as needed. Don't just run it down the drain. Same thing washing hands. Water on, wet hands. Lather. Water on, rinse.

Soldiers learn this in the Middle East where every drop of water is precious. It should be for us too. Treat water like gold and we won't run out. Don't just run it down the drain.

What's more important is water wise developement. This arid desert region and greedy cities must keep in mind that water resources are limited. Citizens are asked to conserve but with the same forked tounge of politics want to over develope the desert. Las Vegas is a prime example of over developing, they run out of water years ago and are actively scavanging other areas of the states water systems, just for one city. Large city, small city, or individual farmer has equal rights to the water supply. I refuse to conserve just to over develope an area that resources are limited. Water managers and suppliers must be more active in developement and limit new developement. We cannot conserve and develope at the same time, it's an illogical practice that can't happen. Utah is not an area that gets any excessive yearly rainfall. Subterranian water is also limited and to keep drawing from wells that can't replenish themselves fast enough to maintain over developing. At some point that runs out too. As we all know every one is already conserving and we need food more than we need a new Wal Mart. If Utah wants to survive they must develope smart.

Uthan's should listen and act. None of us here in my area even water our lawns or we get a fine. We have to wash our cars at car washes. Our children have even gotten in on it and tell each other not to waste water. The schools also try and conserve. It does take some effort and reminding but it is well worth having fresh water to drink.
