BYU football: Team lands a top California receiver

Welcome aboard Brett.
I'm glad BYU got him, but the family and friends connection is getting too much for me.
You ought to feel ashamed D News! Other than that, this is great news for the Cougs.
To the guy critical of Utah playing Weber (an in state school that was a bone thrown to the coach that got Utah notoriety), I'm sure the game against Norther Iowa will open recruiting doors in Iowa!!!
Nice editing job there, guys! Dick should look at the company name on his paycheck once in a while instead of just cashing it.
The vaunted cougarexpress is probably alot like Amtrak which I took Reno for Christmas one year; it
was delayed 5 hrs. Then took 14 hours to make an 8 hour trip.

You mean all the Handcart memorials aren't enough to pique curiousity in ethanol country?

All the 5 star recruits got to the SEC where real football is played not the watered down, mamby pamby, all hype & no substance MWC version.
He's a great player and tremendous example on and off the field."
Sounds like Austin is living right on & off the field after all.
Noticed that byu beat out those throwing powerhouses of NE and AFA. Oh and let's not forget UNLV, who's beaten byu twice in the 2000s in Provo no less.
Wow, another guy who greatest attribute will be that he runs routes very well.
Jealous.
It's nice to have Uncle 'Mo on BYU's side. Almost as nice as seeing utah's fans get more and more paranoid as the imbalance keeps shifting towards the Cougars.
Also, let's face it in MWC football, this includes the Utes: PAC 10 schools are recruiting kids that are making the top #20 at receiver. Both Utah and BYU know this. As a credit to our schools, we can do almost as much with 3-star recruits as they do with 5-star recruits. BYU record against the PAC-10 the last few years, Utah's thrashing of UCLA last year.
If BYU and Utah got into a new PAC-12 it would only take a few years but both the PAC-12 championship and the Rose Bowl attendee would be decided in the Holy Wars of Rocky Mountain Utah.
On second thought, the PAC-10 had better keep us out of their conference. They know we'd own it soon enough.
I wonder if Thompson can do nun-chucks and draw awesome Ligers too!
Gotta love austin
Northern California recruits are always overrated, they report on them just to get them in the spotlight. Recruit WR from So Cal guys and then maybe you can print a story worth a read.
Anybody who gets blanked by UNLV should be laughed out of the conference.
As I said, he'll be known for his best quality, as a guy who runs good routes, typical of 90% of the receivers down there.
2. Stars are all about the hype. If this kid had not committed yet and a few other schools offered (especially another BCS school or two) he would have gotten an extra star. Let's face it - the ratings are all about hype and that goes away once the kid commits.
3. BYU will always grab a little less talent for someone who totally buys into the BYU culture. This kid (who obviously has talent - see #1) committed after his seminary class for heavens sake - I think he definitely buys into the culture.
4. I would add a star simply for the fact that he dated an older girl in hs. If Collie's sister is now in college and he is going into his senior year you know he is considered a stud among his buddies for that feat alone!
