I don't see how "card carrying Mormons" can overlook the absolute denial this man has done of his church? The Church is against gays and yet he signed the gay marriage bill when Governor. He claims his dad marched with MLK which was proven a lie. I mean what does the mane believe?
Union by Trade Rep by Choice | 5:06 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
With Barney Frank as the moral compass, no wonder the dems are going in circles. Just like water down the drain.

Europe is using nuclear power, Mitt was behind it early, imagine the Mid West with affordable electricty? The rust belt could be the steel belt again.

Romney is more conservative than Huckabee who is a liar and a shyster. Huckabee is untrustworthy and has a mean streak. Funny how Obama, Hillary, Kerry & Gore have changed their minds on key issues an no one calls them on it, Romney (good looking & self-made rich) everyone calls every word he utters. I think Romney is a good strong choice. Sara Palin govenor of Alaska is also a good choice. NOT HUCKABEE, or a ProAbort.

Mormons WOULD vote for Evangelical Huckabee while NO Evengelicals or Baptists would vote for Romney.

When Obama wins, blame the self righteous Evangelicals who spout that Mormons aren't Christians as dogma.

It was folks from these same denominations that fueled murderous mobbers to lynch and burn out early Mormons in Missouri. VERY Christian, indeed..!
Timbo | 5:24 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
When a Democrat accuses a Republican of something it usually means they are guilty of it and are trying to shift the blame. Every single thing they said directly applies to Obama. He started out as a Marxist in the primaries. All of a sudden he is a centrist? He started out saying he would pull troops out of Iraq no matter what, now his staff he might not.

He has flip flopped more than John Kerry.

Obama is a lightweight, pop culture icon, nothing more.

I can't wait for the debates. McCain is going to crush him.
Emmm | 5:25 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Come on people, use your critical thinking skills .... The Dems are attacking Mitt because they know that the far right of the Repubs do not like him and are hoping to broaden the split in the Rep party. This has little to do with Utah as this state has so few delegates it makes little difference anyway.
A. Blinken | 5:50 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
I am a conservative Republican and the only way I'll vote for McCain is if he chooses MITT ROMNEY as his running mate. All of this Democrat wailing and gnashing of teeth means they fear Romney.
Mary | 6:07 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Romney is FANTASTIC, and this conservative, evangelical Christian homeschooler would be thrilled to see him as VP. It's McCain people like me don't like much, and if he's really dumb enough to pick some pro-abort liberal like Lieberman or Ridge, that is what will lose him the presidency, not conservatives. It's McCain who needs to choose wisely. As for the so-called religious right, don't confuse all conservatives/Christians with Mike Huckabee or Janet Parshall. Religious bigotry exists, but it's not as prevalent as those would have you think. Most like Romney alot. As for Barney Frank and his ilk...oh, gag me! What a bunch of Marxist/commie fruitcakes think means nothing to any rational, thinking person. We need a qualified, intelligent and moral person on this ticket who will balance out what conservatives see as a real problem with McCain, his anti-conservative, pandering tendencies. If McCain picks Romney, he wins. If he doesn't, it's no on'es fault but his own for sticking his finger in conservatives' eyes one too many times. He'll be responsible for us ending up with Obama, not us. So will sore-loser Huckabee...a sulking, self-serving bureaucrat.
Jrigby | 6:11 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
DNC: wants to take profits from cooperations, that is the first step to communism. Wow and they want to criticize Romeny's record please, who can't see that they have and are deteriorating our countries economy by not requiring us to drill to be energy dependent a true sovereign nation and don't forget are morals they believe should be nonexistent!
Jeff | 6:12 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Romney...
1)supported abortion and gave money to planned parenthood.
2)supported gun control
3)implemented a huge marxist state health care program that gives subsidizes abortions with $50 deductibles
4)supported the gay rights agenda, actively campaigned for their votes, and implemented "gay" marriage (no, the Massachusetts's Supreme Court didn't have any authority to do so)
5)supported McCain's "comprehensive" immigration reform bill.
All within the last two years

Why are you defending this lying lowlife?

It isn't just NBC, ABC, and CBS that refrain from tell you the whole truth... Rush, Hannity, and Beck aren't either!
Thron | 6:19 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Romney is not just bad for the Democrats, he is bad for the status quo in Washingon, D.C. He gave Teddy Kennedy a run for his money in Massachusetts and Teddy knows he is a different kind of politician than the "what's in for me" crowd that waste oxygen in the Congress. Romney struggled in the primaries because the Republican establishment also does not want a leader inside the Beltway when a manager of the status quo like Barry and McCain are more comfortable. If you want change in Washington DC then look to the candidate that the Beltway establishment including the press get hemroids over and that is Mitt Romney.
All Out For Huck | 6:48 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
For once, I agree with the Dems. And I hate myself for saying it... Everyone who thinks they support Romney should do themselves a favor and research his policy positions while he was Governor. He is not a flip-flopper to be fair. He is exactly what Barney Frank said he is--a man who will position himself any way he deems necessary to win an election. The conservative's conservative? Not his conservative Laura Ingraham and I want to know your definition of the word. NO ROMNEY FOR ME!
Matt | 6:49 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
yeah I agree with the democrats! we should elect politicians who never ever change their opinions. It's much ore realistic to expect a person's positions to remain the same throughout their life!

....come on.....
A.C. | 6:54 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Since the Dems hate and fear Romney so much, I will take another look at him.
Robert | 6:59 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Liberals fear someone like Mitt Romney, he represents everything they are not: Bight, Optimistic, Normal, Successful and Conservative. Liberals are all basically Degenerates bottom line and someone like Mr. Romney is a threat to their Degenerate lifestyles...
RSYinBOSTON | 7:00 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
The so-called attacks on Romney are just plain stated facts about what he did and said to get elected. And this BS about nevermind what he said, look at what he has done is the same old Republican crock that lets their candidates off the hook for lieing about their record. Romney didn't raise
taxes, oh no he just raised every f...n fee in the state such as all licenses, fees and transactions statewide which in the end cost the people of Massachusetts even more than a tax increase would have. Seems the majority of comments responding to this article are from people who continue to and want to live their lives in complete denial. Oh and lets not forget when Romney got caught not paying taxes in Utah because he thought he was a resident of Massachusetts only and he didn't know he was supposed to. And he's a businessman and gets away with a lie like that. WOW!
kathy t | 7:03 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Why would anyone quote Barney Frank? When someone does a good job, the Democrats jump on them and tear them down. America is about SUCCESS and Mitt Romney IS successful! John McCain would make a wise decision to select Romney as VP.
Mass Republican | 7:07 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Sad thing is that Barney Frank is actually right. Mitt Romney essentially destroyed what was left of the MassGOP. The MittCare health plan is becoming a disaster of Biblical proportions and likely will lead to a taxpayer revolt this November.

It isn't just abortion, it is guns & property rights that need to be of concern. Romney instituted a $100 gun license fee and said that those who couldn't afford it didn't have to own guns. His admin said that elderly homeowners who couldn't afford property tax spikes should give up their homes and move into subsidized housing projects.

Romney on the ticket will be the same as Romney as Governor and he will destroy the GOP the way he destroyed the MassGOP -- anyone not totally "Team Mitt" was run out of the party. His anointed legislative candidates had no grassroots support and lost badly. He may be a decent man and all, but a lousy choice for VP.

Picking Mitt will elect Obama -- I think the Dems know this which is why they are attacking him so as to elevate his chances....
George | 7:21 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
We all know Barney's persuasion so I take it as a compliment that a sexual deviant should critize a Conservative.
Cliff | 7:28 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
If the DNC is against him then he is the man. I don't know how any logical, sane, educated person could support anything the Democratic party stands for. UNless of course you wanted a socialist Govt. where the people are sheep and only those in Charge of the GOVT are able to make your decisions. IF this is what you want move to China or North Korea. This is where we are headed if The DNC has it's way.
Dennis D | 7:28 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Yes of course lets listen to Barney Frank who operated a male prostitution ring from his Washington Home ..
DNC idiots | 7:35 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Why would anyone believe the Democrats on a Republican issue? This is like asking Iran who they like in Israel.
May John McCain show that he is a Maverick, and ignore the idiots on the left.
To quote Mike Huckabee, "if your catching flak, you must be over the target".
sara | 7:45 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
let's go mitt. he is the only person among all candidates who is best qualified to be either president or vice president. i would feel secure in any decision he makes because he shows that you can look at a problem, digest it, and see what the best decision is for your country. i am glad he is big enough in his mind to change it if he sees it is not good for his state, or in this case, for his country. LET'S GO MITT!!!!
Steady | 8:01 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Hey Delquattro,

I know Barry is the Marxist but who is the Fascist? If you tell me McCain, I'll sell you a bridge in Brooklyn.
Hawaiian Dave | 8:03 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Flip Flopping is a relative term, when the dems do it, it's enlightenment and intellectual growth, when the Repubs do it, it's bad bad bad! I feel that Romney was able to explain his changes in positions with intelligent reasoning that the Left simply does not and will not understand. Everything with them is touchy feely and driven by emotion not by reasoning.
Romney has the economic experience, governing experience and moral experience to be a wonderful VP if not one day the president. So much more than Obama who has done what? Name 1 business he's helped! Name a state he's helped! Name legislation he's authored and seen through. Oh wait, he hasn't had the time to do so, he's a first time senator and he's spent half the time campaigning for President. He's for change? How about this change, let's get someone qualified for the Dem's candidate for President!
DanBYU | 8:05 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Uh Oh ... The Democrats are attacking Romney? What will we do? If they say he is bad then he must be. And there I was thinking that He would be a good VP choice, just to have the democrats come out and burst my bubble. Who should be VP now? We have to find someone that the Democrats like or we won't be able to beat them in November. (please note the sarcasm)

Romney would be a great choice for VP. Of course the democrats are going to attack him, they attack everyone and their mom in order to cover all of their bases. Romney is not nearly as un-popular in the south as many of the hate-mongers who get on here and say that he is. The vote was basically split three ways between Romney, McCain, and Huckabee in the south, meaning that no one won overwhelmingly down there.

The only question now is whether McCain will give into the "peer pressure" being put on him by the democrats and also by Huckabee a few days ago to not pick Romney, or if he will see past his pride and pick the best choice which is Romney.

WHOOOO, the libs in action. What are they so frightened of? When all else fails, try to destroy the opponent with words, just words. Disgusting....
So Cal Surfer | 8:13 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
I read this initially with the notion that somehow Mit was at risk here, as this article was marketed that Mitt was being bashed by politicians as he is now a short-lister in the Veepstakes.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Barney Frank? Really? I hope to someday live in a world which is run by people who are 180 degrees out of phase with, and reviled by loony, wild-eyed pot promoting (in the "bag" for Big Marijuana), prostitution ring-running (holding aside his gayness, which doesn't matter one hoot, his live-in fellah WAS convicted of running a gay prostitution ring out of the senator's own home - the senator, by the way, had NO IDEA it was going on...so he's either a damned liar or actually that damned stupid, and either one is sorta frightening) hypocrites. Please, call the roll, and all of you crazy "Che" T Shirt wearers and handlers please line up on one side.

That way, I will know where not to stand.
It's Romney...or Bob Barr | 8:17 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Are ya listenin John? If you choose anyone but Romney...or perhaps Jendahl...or if you go with pro-choice Tom Ridge or pro-choice liberal Lieberman...Bob Barr gets my vote. Sure, we get the socialist/marxist Obama, but we also snap the necks of the RINO's trying to take over the Republican party. Then, two years later, we regain congress and shut down the Soros puppet...Obama.

Harsh?...you bet. Serious?...dealdly.

Barney frank? Hey Barney, I have a "large endowment"
and I'm on parole, wait it's worse,I have parking tickets. Can you take care of this for me?
Ron | 8:35 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
I think the Dems are deluded. Every charge they made against Romney is a FAR more accurate descrpition of OBAMA. No experience, No core principles. He sat in a church for 20 years with a anti-american punk preacher, yet says he never knew the pastor felt that way? Hangs out with home grown terrorists...but never knew who they were? Gets elected to position after position and does......

NOTHING. Begins campaigning for the next prize.

Democrats are the biggest enemy this country faces precisely because they have ZERO, NADA, ZIP relationship with reality. They are bunch of sociopaths looking to gain control of the USA to implement their anti-american agenda. There is a reason our enemies always prefer Dems to be in power. Dems make the job of destroying America much easier for them. The know the Dems are a bunch of weak-kneed cowards who will cave to them.

The people of the USA better wake up to just how dangerous Dems are to the safety and future of this country.

Bob | 8:43 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
It looks like America is headed for some good old DNC Socialism. The religious argument makes us look as bad as those nut case muslims but with 90 percent of the people in this country still believing in some kind of sky fairy dont expect rational decisions. Have to go now..am going up on a hill and talk to that angel.
Anonymous | 8:48 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Everyone can tell that the Democrats FEAR Mitt Romney. That's why they are bashing him at every opportunity. If McCain has one chance in hell of winning the White House, his best chance is picking Mitt Romney as his VP. If he does, he WILL WIN THE WHITE HOUSE and Obama and Kerry can be kicked to the OUT HOUSE... All I can say to the Democratic bashing of Romney is, Keep bashing him. It will elevate Romney to greater credibility and viability and eventually put him in the White House with McCain. So keep it up, Barney Frank and DNC. The American Voters are more educated and more intelligent than ever before, and they just won't fall for the negativity. Bring up actual issues that
really matter...

Romney's got to be the right choice to get some balance into the McCain ticket if the Dems are already so afraid of him.
DL Rupper | 9:03 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
If McCain wins, we really need Mitt on the ticket as VP just in case John has his father's genes and not his mother's and moves on to greener pastures.
Lippy | 9:07 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Having Barney Franks talk against Romney is noting but a PLUS for him. Barney Franks who was caught with a MALE Prostitute before he came out of the closet is one more of Massachusetts losers along with Gerry (Page Boy) Studds, John (Purple Heart) Kerry and Ted (The Bridge) Kennedy. The Liberal group of Drunks , Gays and Wannabe Heros. OUCHHHHHHHHHH
Pastor Ken | 9:14 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Senator McCain,

Please, please, please don't pick Huckabee!

As a Christian I am tired of people playing the religion game to gain votes. Huckabee has done that his whole career while you have steered clear of that manipulative strategy. Pick the man or woman you think would make the best president in case something happens to you during your term(s) in office and who will be supportive of your vision of leadership.
Romney, next V.P. of USA!!! | 9:22 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
The ferocity and timing of these baseless, venomous assaults on the honorable Mitt Romney by the morally bankrupt, traitorous, hateful Left only affirm that the guy should be chosen (and elected) as the next Vice President of the USA. These vicous attacks confirm that he is truly a decent, competent, patriotic American who puts fear into the black hearts of our nation's internal enemies. The Left hates him because they fear and resent his competency, patriotism, and decency.
lingoliad | 9:23 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Back several decades ago, a young man with no experience who seem to come from nowhere wanted to be president and promised to bring change & hope Noone bothered to ask what kind of change? He promised free education, free healthcare and equality. The press loved him and the people followed him. Well he kept his promises. The education system is pathetic, the health care system is in ruins and everyone is equally miserable. That young mans name is Fidel Castro.
Marla | 9:25 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Let's take a look at Barney Frank.

Let's go back in time.

Do the words "Prostitution Ring, in Mr. Frank's home" ring a bell?

Mr. Frank should get off of his high horse and recall his own life, before slamming someone else!
Roger Valentine | 9:35 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
I could never vote for a person who hates part of the American family. I see America as a land of many races, many economic classes, many religions etc. The only person John could pick with that label is Huckabee. Ive worked with people of all religions throughout my career, and never felt any of them hated me because I am a member of the LDS Church. I would hate to have to work for a company run by Mr. Huckabee, let alone have him next in line for President of the United States. The Mormons lived through a time when they received no support from the Federal Government, and I wouldnt want to see it again.

"Romney on McCain's Record": I agree with Romney on those issues. I don't think McCain is the strongest Rep. candidate we could have chosen to run for Pres. But the majority did choose him and we are stuck with him. Let's face it, our country is a two party country. You have to either vote for the liberal democratic ticket or the conservative republican ticket to have your vote really count. You have to choose the lesser of two evils here. Mitt is backing the right party and wants the right party to be in office. He respects McCain and will help him anyway he can, even when he may not agree with everything he did. I sure want McCane to make it into the whitehouse, even though I don't agree with his stance on immigration. I don't have any other choice, do I? By the way, when did Mitt say that God hasn't spoken to man since Moses?
voice of reason | 9:39 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
The democrats cannot run on their true ticket of socialism and marxism, so they try to scare people away from voting republican by demonizing them falsely. Is Mitt a perfect man? No. Is he a politician? yes. But he has a far better shot at straightening out this economy than anyone else out there.
BTW all the "christians" who HATE Romney because he is Mormon, need to examine their study of the bible. We are not called to hate, but to love each other. Jesus said that those who are not against us are for us. What are you so afraid of?

Dear Jim-12:09pm 8/15LOL ! Thats some pretty funny stuff there ! Do you do stand-up comedy routines on the week-ends ? penguins on bikes HA ! The UN really could use Gordon B. Hinkley right now .That would be AMAZING ! A little Divine Guidance would be refreshing at the UN for a change, seeing as how hed have to come down from heaven for the meetings and all and 10% , thats ALL ? Dannng a major tax-break for the regular folks too cool ! Youre right Orin Hatch would probably make a fine Secretary of Defense. That is amazing history there, that Joseph Smith ran for office and for it he was uhhh murdered, by the up-standing highly principaled christian folks in his State. The chasing Black People and taking away freedom thing was a stretch, but still pretty funny, I guess it would have been a bit funnier visual of penguins on bikes chasing Blacks to take away their religious freedoms , now THAT would be friggin Hillarious !
Jary from Phoenix | 9:46 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
If this was not such an important election it would be funny. Dems are such hypocrites, for they falsely consider criticism of their Big O as racism, but would scream bloody murder if their criticism of Romney was categorized as religious bigotry. Yet, that is probably far more accurate than their baseless claims.
Bill | 9:53 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
How about this... The democrats attacking romney for switching positions. This coming from a party that is about to announce a candidate for president that repeatedly struck down a bill while in the Illinois senate that would have made post birth abortion illegal, and is now shifting his position so he appears to be more conservative than his entire party on abortion. At least we know which party attacked first on this one. Oh, one more thing... If The One chooses Bayh for VP, how is he going to explain Bayh's vote to go to war with Iraq when he repeatedly bashed Hillary Clinton for doing the same thing.
Brother Chuck Schroeder | 9:55 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
My 2 cents worth = Who really cares if Mitt Romney's chances of becoming John McCain's vice presidential running mate are strong enough that the Democratic National Committee launched a full-scale attack on him other than Utah Mormon's?. The O'bots and Obamacon's as well as the bleeding heart liberal's will never really stop their new attacks on Republican Mitt Romney, because Mitt is a "Log Cabin" Moderate Republican and is just to gay to be the VP in the White House, plus he's also a Mormon, and people remember the mormon mountain medow mass-muder thing, and will always "play it up" as such. So don't count your chickens before they hatch here. We need real Rupublican's in the White House and in Congress to, not moderates and "almost a liberal but not quite but real close to one." He is the most inconsistent politician in the history of politics.
