Barney Frank? Barney Frank? Don't make me laugh anymore, my insurance won't cover it.... Ah, you libbies...
DCortez | 12:37 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
If flip flopping, negative campaign running Romney is on the ticket, my family is sitting this cycle out.
Lee | 12:40 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
This is the heart and soul of Democrat thinking. Biased, discriminatory, racist, pro-death, self-centered, egotistical, bigoted, control-freak losers.

Democrats are basically race-baiters and religious bigots, and among the most closed-minded people on earth.

The combined intelligence quotient of all of their pea-brains couldn't figure their way out of a paper bag.

Get lost Obama, Dean, Clinton, and the entire lot of ya! You are useless! You contribute nothing to our great nation, freedom, democracy, or life! Hit the road!

Arguments coming from Barney Frank, a man who had a gay prostitution ring being run out of his house, are probably welcome by Mr. Romney.
faith | 12:42 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
I agree with Tim (Aug 14 comment) Huckabee deliberately villified Romney when running for presidency. The candles and moving crucifix in his ad was not just happenstance.
Champsummers | 12:47 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Can really take Barney Frank seriously? Anyone that allows a male prostitution ring to be run from his home can't be taken seriously on anything. He and his sister are jokes.
Nicolle | 12:47 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
To the person who wrote this "I'm curious how Romney will explain: "God hasn't spoken to man since Moses," when this clearly contradicts LDS dogma" what in the world does this have to do with him being a possible VP pick for McCain? Here we go again...
Cheech (LDS) | 12:48 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
For:Romney is just another liar--- What are you talking about, and why? You are the sort of LDS member that gets crazy ideas into people's heads! No wonder they think were crazy! If your going to talk religion, do it right!!!!

"BobP | 8:14 a.m. Aug. 15, 2008
I am a Mormon (active) and a conservative (very) and Romney does change his philosophical position more often than I change my socks."

Your feet must really stink!
kate | 12:53 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
A democrat attacking a Republican. How new, How refreshing. Never been done before. Will wonders never cease. I never heard anything like it. Can this be so? A gay attacking a Christian. That hasn't happened either. I don't know what all the flack is about. Democrats practically never attack Republicans. Except every chance they get.
Lesonthego | 12:59 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
For "Romney Is A Liar": You sure don't sound like a mormon to me; I think you are faking it! Give us the documentation of when Mitt ever denied "that God has spoken to Joseph Smith." I bet you can't!

Instead of ad homeniem attacks, look at what the man has DONE in company after company, in MA and the Olympics. Pretty impressive.

And frankly, the only people who don't change their minds and opinions are either not thoughtful or dead. I certainly don't want a president who can't recognize previous faulty thinking and consider new information.

As for whether he should be VP, I would rather see him sit this election out and run for President in 4 years after Obama has practically torn the constitution to shreds and Americans are shellshocked. If he hooks up with McCain, win or lose, he loses.
Carolyn | 1:00 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
1. Would some of you people...please stop with the
religion business. You make a feigned negative
remark and don't back it up. What is it that
you don't like about Mormans...and further, what
you don't like...are they applicable to Mitt
Romney?????
2. Barney Frank...and I will be "frank" is talking
about inconsistency...tell me..whatever created
this world...was consistent, i.e., it believed
in the continuation of the creation. Barney
Frank is evidence that this cannot happen due to
his choice in life styles.
3. Romney is the best choice for VP and would make
me as a Conservative, very happy. He is a good
communicator, he can put the issues out there in
ways that everyone can understand and show what
a poor candidate Barack Obama really is.
Falyn | 1:03 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
I've always thought Romney suspended his campaign a little early, and in the back of my mind I thought "Maybe he and McCain have a deal." Mitt was Mcain's only true competition. McCain's admits he knows zilch about the economy and leans too far left on certain issues near and dear to Republicans of the right. Romney is perfect. I used to think he was artificial, almost robotic, until I really stopped and just listened to what he said. The man is brilliant. If anyone can help our hurting economy its Mitt. If the evangelicals don't want to vote for him, too bad-they are nothing more than religious bigots. We have the dems screaming "race" and the reps screaming "religion" Dumb and dumber.
Tina | 1:05 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Since when does a party choose a candidate because the other party wants them? Democrats must be scared of Romney being the Rep. V.P. candidate or they would just shut up.
Warren | 1:07 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Democrats will only go after what threatens them. Go Mitt!!
ricky dick | 1:09 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
As a registered Democrat that is Pro-Life, I'll vote for McCain if he selects Mitt as VP. As long as he flips the right way. Those Libs are very sick!
cougarfan | 1:09 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Romney is not the the most intellectually inconsistent politician in the history of politics. Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., said "I have never seen anyone so completely without any commitment to any particular principle and so willing to say whatever he thinks will help him win the next election."

To that I have one question.

What are Barrack Obamas political views?
Tom | 1:10 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Romney is for defining marriage by what it is and always has been - a union between a man and a woman - so it's no wonder that the ultra divisive censured liberal - and GAY - congressman from Massachusetts Barney Frank is vehemently against him. Will wonders never cease! lol If Romney wasn't so conservative Barney wouldn't be against him so adamently. Go Mitt!
Robert | 1:10 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Mitt seems to be getting it from both the left (DNC) and the right (Huckabee's evangelicals). Wow. I'm reading a brand new book that talks about Mitt Romney's campaign and the attacks he took about his religion. The book is found on Amazon.com and is called A Different God? Mitt Romney, the Religious Right, and the Mormon Question.
Roy | 1:10 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
The country would be overrun by penguins??? That's about the most dumbest thing I have ever read, no wait, Barney Frank is pretty close in his socialist views of Gov. Romney. If the Socialist party wasn't worried about than they wouldn't attack him.

Our Nations SOCIALIST DEMOCRATS really need to worry about there own Hillary is going to steal the show in Denver. I can't wait for the fighting in the streets when it happens.

READ "Obama Nation" if that doesn't scare the Obama voters, than they really do lack the grey matter to understand just how much he will destroy this Nation.
Alex | 1:12 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Consider the source. :)
DJ in AZ | 1:13 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
I don't care if the Dems bash Romney. I don't listen to what the Dems say anyways. When you consider the source of the accusations, that tells me Romney is a pretty good guy.
Francis | 1:13 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
So what, a few flip flops. We have all made flip flops. What matters is what he knows and commits to now, not what he did when he was 12 or 25. He would make a great VP or President.
Larry | 1:13 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Rep Barney Frank's comment sounded like he was talking about Obama. Is he sure he was on the right conference call?
You are ridiculous Jim | 1:20 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Jim - Conspiracy theories are for college-aged liberals ... or liberals who don't have jobs and sit home all day thinking/reading/listening to conspiracy theories, and since you have no connection to anything REAL in the world, and your bubble is so small, conspiracy theories make sense. If you knew anything about the mormon church, you would know that the plot you just described goes exactly against the tenets of the mormon church. And Joseph Smith ran for president to raise national awareness of the terrible plight of the mormons, since spineless politicians wouldn't help. Since leaders of the church (including Smith himself) spoke with the President of the U.S. personally, and the government STILL would not help stop the slaughter of the mormons in Missouri. Martin Van Buren to Joseph Smith: "Your cause is just, but I can do nothing for you ... I cannot lose the state of Missouri."

There are some little facts to burst your fact-ignoring conspiracy bubble
SA | 1:22 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Romney is just another liar--This guy is not a Mormon. He doesn't have any idea what Mormon doctrine is. I mean he has a right to hate Romney but he is lying about being a Mormon...just thought I would clear that up.
Truth Hurts | 1:28 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Reading the truth, takes a bite out of ya, doesn't it? Utahns can go ahead and jump up and down shouting that all of these criticisms aren't true, but you need to face it - that's the general perception of Mitt Romney around the country. I shutter at the notion of a McCain victory, but even I would advise him to steer clear of Romney.
VF | 1:31 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
David Woodward said:

"Look at this guy's track record. Look what he's actually done, not what he says, because he clearly can't maintain the position for more than a couple of sound bites."

Okay, here goes:

Mitt took the 2002 winter olympics from dissaster and turned it into one of the greatest winter olympics ever put on. And, he had money left over.

Mitt was elected as a Republican Governor in Massachusetts where the population is roughly 85% Democrat.

Massachusetts was $1 billion in the red with a lousy credit rating. When he left office 4 years later Mass was $3 billion in the black and had a very healthy credit rating. (It took the current Democrat governor roughly 6 months to put Mass right back where it had been when Mitt had taken over, in the hole and looking for more ways to get money from the tax payers.)

I've known Mitt for about 20 years and he is a man of great integrity. Now I'm working on McCain's committe here in NH and hope that he really does choose Mitt for his VP. If he does, look out Obama.
Go Mitt!!
JJH | 1:34 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
I thinks the Dems smell that it will be Romney for 2 reasons. 1)He will get the conservative movement on fire 2)Romney will bring in lot of money. Jindal won't take the job. Sarah Palin has a scandal of her own with firing head of public safety. Tom Ridge is not going fireup the conservatives to vote. Crist and Pawelnty could bring in the conservatives, but I don't think the campaign funds would come in like Romney.
campaign funds are like oxygen, when you are out you don't survive.
I think it is interesting that are mainly attacking Mitt on flip flops. I think this will go nowhere since Barack over the past 2 months has been flipping and flopping more than Mitt in his whole political carrier.
If McCain does this right and picks Romney and shows the Dems for who they are, Republicans can win in '08
mrunpc | 1:39 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Ohkayyy...the story quotes Barney (the boy-chasing queer) as a credible source? Typical from the Democommies who WANT to kill babies, same sex marriage, reverse discrimination, higher taxes, dependence on enemy oil, etc, etc.

Mitt Romney puts ANY of them to shame and the fact that he has changed his mind (for good reason) on abortion pales in comparison to how often the closet Muslim, Osamabama changes HIS on everything.

McCain/Romney, THAT'S the ticket!!! And they WILL win in November.
Anonymous | 1:41 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
So you mean to tell me that they actually took the time to hold a conference call who's purpose was soley to bash Romney? That's actually so sad and pathetic that it is impressive.
Zaggs | 1:41 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
So the argument against Romney is that highly partisan democrats don't like him. Sounds like a good pick to me then.
By the way is this the high class campaigning we've been hearing about?
Sharonda | 1:42 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
These democrats will go to great lengths to get Obama elected. They will even show those fake polls,But i'm an evangelical myself and i would never vote for Obama, and a lot of evangelical's say,Obama cannot be trusted. You might here misguided polls out here, but their all liberal.Just like the lies about our military.Noone believes they chose an inexperienced obama against mccain. These are the same liberal's on the website at vote vets .org..noone cares about their liberal views, they have protestors against mccain trying to tarnish his war record. It's ashame Obama can't stand up like a man and fight for himself. He's just a cry baby, childish, and immature.Obama shouldn't be running for any government office. He needs to grow up first and be a man.
Kay B. Day | 1:43 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
This tells me Romney must be doing something right if folks like Frank don't like him. What is it with these Dems? Only thing they're doing is slamming the opposition, in the absence of any bright ideas within the DNC. Sad decline of a once strong party.

McCain is clearly the best democrat in this race.
In fact he is the ONLY democrat in the race given the democratic party's move toward socialism.

Romney would be the ONLY conservative in the race and given that fact I doubt McCain will choose him. Bet on another democrat in republican clothing like Lindsey Graham or heaven forbid Joe Lieberman.

How could the republicans nominate a guy like McCain? Is this the best they can do? Awful!!
Mike | 1:48 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Romney, I thought this article was about Obama!
I am sure these critics of Romney will judge Obama to the same standard.
Don't laugh, they wil.

I believe! We can! Pee can!
Frank | 1:50 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
We're not allowed to talk about all of obama's flip flopping...
Mountainhombre | 1:51 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Leave it to Beaver--great, old TV show. Eddy Haskell was a character on it. Basically, he did whatever was necessary to "suck up" to the parents of "the Beav". Mitt=Eddy (big time . . .)
TheWiseOne | 1:53 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Anyone who uses religion to base who they are going to vote for is an idiot.

Romney has been, and still is. the most intelligent, qualified candidate

However, he lacks charisma as does McCain so I don't think he would be a good draw for voters. I expect McCain to choose Lieberman which will certainly cost him the election.

But if he chooses the Alaskan governor, he will win... hands-down.
Shauna | 1:54 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Rude, rude, rude, rude, rude. You all have nothing more to do that dream up riduculous comments.
John Jones | 1:55 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
I'm not a Mormon. But I would vote for Mitt Romney in a heartbeat. I'm not a Muslim, and I would NEVER vote for B Obama.
I saw a 'voter' in the NH primary who, when Mitt approached him with hand extended, folded his arms, looked Romney in the eye and said "I'll NEVER vote for a Mormon." Never saw anyone do anything smilar to obama.
Yet the media calls us all racists because obama isnt leading, as they suppose he should be, by a 25% margin. God help us if fundamentalist Christians prevent the election of a good, intelligent man who has America's interests at heart and who happens to be mormon and rather abet the election of a man whose religion is at best subject to debate and who, even if he is "Christian", belongs to a vile, hateful sect of anti-white "christians". The man is the biggest danger to America since Hitler and Tojo and yet the sheeple are preparing to innaugurate him. Certainly argues for PT Barnum's opinion of Americans.
Matt | 1:55 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
The thing to remember about Massachusetts, despite the 40,000 job loss and the gloom that Walsh depicted during Romney's time in office is that the state legislature holds a democratic super-majority. The legislature absolutely runs the show in that state regardless of who has the corner office...think I'm kidding, ask Deval Patrick. He's cut from the same cloth as Obama, speaks of change and hope, etc., but ultimately, he has done next to nothing as governor, despite the D next to his name. The legislature in Massachusetts holds much more clout and responsibility for the state's poor economic growth than any governor could possibly be held accountable for.
Former Illinois resident | 1:55 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Folks better look at Barrys record of voting AGAINST legislation in Illinois to PREVENT partial birth abortions there. Do we really want a President who agrees with the practice of cutting a hole in a infants head while in the womb, causing immediate death and throwing the remains away as medical waste ? I just hope people aren't tricked by the image they're being sold.

I Only Know Mitt Romney From The Fine Job He Did As President of The 2002 Winter Olympics In Salt Lake City.

Now, Compare That Record With This Years', "Scandal-Ridden" Summer Olympic Games In Beijing, People's Republic of China!

No Wonder The Democrats Are Trying To Smear (*FEAR*) Him...

How does anyone pay any attention to Barney Frank?

Hell, he's a restroom stalker and talks with a lisp so bad that he is impossible to understand ...
craiger | 2:11 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
The dems are so terrified that lord obama will lose the election that they are premptively striking against 8 people that may or may not be republican veep. Hysterical and typical... obviously they realize obama is an empty suit after all but are stuck nominating him, and now they need to rely on whoever he chooses for his vp to save his election chances while attacking ANYONE they think will be the republican vp. As the McDonalds saying goes, "I'm lovin it"... watching the socialist libs squirm!!
Bonnie | 2:14 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Isn't that like the pot calling the kettle black no racism intended)? The dems are saying he will say anything to get elected. DUH. What have they been doing all along? HELLO
tombradylookalike | 2:21 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
This is a very good sign that the DNC is going after Mitt. It shows they are worried about him and fear and respect him as a foe. You never attack someone who you don't see as a threat.

It must pain the Dems to not have a single politician with the lifetime achievements of a guy like Romney.
Bawney Fwank | 2:22 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008

Barney Frank - now there is a model of political and moral integrity. And his candidate - Barry - is just another Chicago-grown hack politician with no track record, no experience and no plan. Where is Jimmy Carter when you need him?
