"He is the most intellectually inconsistent politician in the history of politics," Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., said of former Massachusetts Gov. Romney."

It's hard to believe anything a homosexual says. Shows his mouth is generally full of crap.

ROCK ON MITT!!!!!!!! MITT 2012!!
PJ | 11:26 a.m. Aug. 15, 2008
The people should listen to Barney Franks. He has experience running a male prostitution ring out of his DC condo. Go Franks. What a slum ball.

Are we supposed to take Barney Frank seriously? Maybe he's got a crush on Mitt and knows he doesn't have a chance.
Mormons for Bob Barr | 11:32 a.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Who the heck cares? Mitt Romney is just as liberal as the DNC anyways.
wrz | 11:37 a.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Brad: "Just two words for the DNC - John Edwards"

Brad, I think you're onto something. Edwards would fit nicely into how the Demos view things and conduct themselves.

Anonymous @ 1:48: "McCain and Romney. Now there's a dream team. Right up there with Cheney and Bush."

I prefer Clinton and Monica (either Clinton).

How's that 'ole saying go?....... A little manure around the base of the tree only helps the tree to grow. Ya gotta LOVE 'em.

Re: Baptist | 9:24 am:

"I have never understood a religion that encourages its members to be prejudice. Why is it o.k. for so-called "Christians" to refuse to vote for Romney just because he's a Mormon (follower of Christ)?"

It's because Baptists have been upstaged by a better religion... and they know it. And they are so hard nosed they can't let go of their "old time religion."
Barney Frank? | 11:53 a.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Barney Frank. What a paragon of virtue and morality. His opposition alone is enough for Mitt to have my support.
nonnie | 11:53 a.m. Aug. 15, 2008
We do not need the do nothing democrats, they will just walk out when they do not get their way. Like Nancy Pelosi did. We need true and strong leadership.

GO Mitt Go

McCain and Romney all the way.
Anonymous | 11:55 a.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Does not matter - I think that McCain has already picked his Veep, and it is not Mitt. I think hat it will be Colin Powell. SO good luck to the DNC when they find out that Powell is not backing Obama and is set as the Rep Veep!!
martinamerica | 11:56 a.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Did Barney Frank comment on his current position on gay brothels run out of the apartments of House members?
RT | 12:01 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Notice the credentials of the attackers? People are defined by the friends and enemies they keep.
Skeptic | 11:59 a.m. Aug. 15, 2008
"As a Mormon..."

Suuuuure your a Mormon...a Mormon poser is more like it.

The Dems are actually talking about Obama:

He is the most intellectually inconsistent politician in the history of politics," Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., said of former Massachusetts Gov. Romney. "I have never seen anyone so completely without any commitment to any particular principle and so willing to say whatever he thinks will help him win the next election."

They must be very afraid of a Romney VP. Myself, I hope McCain picks a woman; 2 candidates come to mind, one from Tennessee, one from Minnesota....
Clyde | 12:03 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
From the Article:
...Woodward said, "We need to actually make sure we're informing the public. Look at this guy's track record. Look what he's actually done, not what he says, because he clearly can't maintain the position for more than a couple sound bites."

Sounds like he is talking about Obama, doesn't it!!!
MoJules | 12:04 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
The Mormon part of me would like Romney as VP, but actually, I would rather see him serve in ways that will help our economy.

I hope that McCain is not stupid, I think the perfect VP would be Jindel, but he won't do it, I hope that McCain doesn't choose another liberal as VP.

I am afraid if we have a liberal Pres and VP, then the Republican party is gone.

I am sure that every prospect will have a list of pros and cons. It will be interesting.
tish | 12:04 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
TOO BAD ROMNEY DIDNT GET THE NOMINATION.....HE'LL DROWN OUT MCCAIN AND TAKE OVER.....AND THAT WOULD BE A GOOD THING....HE WOULD BE DOING BETTER IN THE POLLS
Obama Republican | 12:05 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Mitt fell victim to the Radical Christian Right, if the Christian Right ever took real power I am not sure how long we Mormons would survive. They do not like us, even though they claim to follow christ's teachings

If all the republicans on this board can not see by now, how the Religious Right will treat all Mormon candidates you are blind!

It was not Jews or Muslims that were burning down homestead in Missouri, Ohio or Illinois. Sadly so called Christians feel they can force their beliefs on others... As history has taught us they quickly draw the sword when met with resistance!

"In our lovely Deseret" we call ourselves Republicans but the Party uses us for our voting block. The GOP just can not fathom the thought of a MORMON President!
Balls Flotard | 12:06 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Anyone who strikes such fear in the DNC that they launch a pre-emptive attack on his charachter is obviously the one we need to run with McCain on the ticket, and if McCain turns out to be a one term President, succeed him in 2012. Mitt Romney all the way!!

Anonynous said
"I'm curious how Romney will explain:
"God hasn't spoken to man since Moses," when this clearly contradicts LDS dogma."

First of all I don't think as VP that will probably be something he needs to address so it is completely meaningless.

Second doesn't Matthew 3:17 completely disprove that when there is a voice from heaven (that would be God) who says, "this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased". Or if Jesus is God, I am pretty certain the New Testaments documents alot of him talking to man. Besides who said that since Moses God has talked to no man? Whoever said that only could have been stating up to that point. He didn't say and God will not talk to any man after me, if he did then obviously the other scriptures prove that to be incorrect.
Jim | 12:09 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Ew, a Mormon in office!! The country would be overrun by penguins on bikes within a month. A temple on every corner. It is just a plot by the Mormons to overtake this country with their lies and hatred. Mitt the Mormon would lead the charge and make sure there are laws in place so there is nothing we can do about it. Before you know it, 10% of your check will go to mormon faith-based initiatives.

Mitt would only be the beginning. You'd have Mormon cabinet members. Orrin Hatch as Secretary of Defense. That Hinckly Prophet would be appointed ambassador to the UN. This is all a Mormon plot, I tell you. It's obvious and if you can't see it then you are fooling yourself. Think about it!! That church has been trying to get Mormons into the white house since inception. Even Joseph Smith ran for president!!!

Listen to me before the next coin has Joseph Smith imprinted on it. They'll run this country the "mormon way", forcibly tithe you, chase out all the black people, and take the freedom of religion from you all!!
Dave | 12:10 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Wow. If the DNC hates Mitt this much, maybe he *should* get the VP slot.
Jerry in Tampa | 12:10 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
The fact that the Socialists have their panties in a wad over the possibility of Romney getting the VP nod is GREAT NEWS as it means that the GOP has the right guy. Who gives a crap about what Barney (bendover) Frank or Teddy (give me a drink or a woman) Kennedy has to say about anything that the GOP plans. The left should just get out of the way and let the GOP do what MUST be done for this country.
Jeanne Marie | 12:11 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
After the Rev. Wright fiasco, Romney's religion looks pretty mainstream--even to the religious right. It IS time to look at someone's actions and not their rhetoric. Romney's got his pants zipped, his brain in gear, and his hair in the headwind. No other candidate for McCain's VP has all three.
Grandpa Phil | 12:13 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
ABSOLUTELY LOVE the Evangelicals for Mitt site!!! Now THERE's a bunch of honestly sincere and good people who know how to see the good in people no matter WHAT their religion. THAT is refreshing to say the least.
Anthony | 12:13 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
I witnessed Mitt Romney turn around Taxachusetts in four years by lowering taxes and streamlining government. He is a man who will always do what he thinks is best for his country. His wife and family have always been first class. We should be so lucky to have him as vice president. He was a breath of fresh air for our state full of Democrat corruption...
Bill | 12:17 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
In light of Corsi's book, the Dems are running scared. This is a pre-emptive attack on a potential running mate. They've already started with Lieberman and will probably target Ridge and Pawlenty next. What a joke. Thier emperor has no clothes so they're changing the subject.
c'est moi | 12:18 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Democrat logic: up is down, black is white, good is bad.
Remember, the Democrats only attack those they fear.
This Catholic will vote for a ticket that has Romney on it.
Nina | 12:17 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Really??? Barney Frank dishing on principles? Give me a break. And by the way, any free-thinking "Pro-Choice" fan could see a sonogram of that 6-week-old "blob of tissue" and change his mind about abortion. THOSE ARE BABIES, you morons! Quit giving people grief because they saw the light and decided to quit calling it "Pro-Choice"....If I'm Pro-Life...You are Pro-Death (of a child, yes...) You should change your mind about it too, unless you want to go to your grave with that blood on your hands.
John Frost | 12:18 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Obama nation is in panic if Mitt Romney becomes VP under McCain.
While Mitt was creating billion dollar companies Obama was selling and doing crack COCAINE.

Anonymous said: "I'm curious how Romney will explain:"God hasn't spoken to man since Moses," when this clearly contradicts LDS dogma."

According t the MSM the Messiah speaks to man all the time isn't Barrack Insane Obama the Messiah?
Quiverdaddy | 12:22 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
I don't need a bunch of half crazed DemoKKKrats to tell me Mitt is a flip flop flipper -- I figured that out during the primaries. However, even at his worst, Mitt is better than most of his fellow travelers on the left.

One would think the DemoKKKrats would be happy that the GOP is likely to put up two moderates against their neo-socialist candidate. A McCain/Romney ticket would almost certainly result in people of conscience staying home. Whatever Romney posed as during the primaries, he remains a liberal at heart. McCain really should find someone with at least some conservative leanings as a running mate.

And the DemoKKKrats should stick to picking thier own VP candidate. They've done enough harm picking our standard bearer.
rank | 12:23 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Barney Frank... if the DNC does not have a more credible rep than him they are in deep trouble. I hope McCain does pick Mitt, and McCain Romney cleans Obama and his other Socialist's clock! Wake up America... with all that is now happening we certainly do not need Obama.
MJ | 12:27 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Please John McCain don't choose him! If this opens peoples eyes to Mitt the Twitt I am glad:)
mark | 12:24 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Any Republican who knows anything about their party knows that you need the Christian Right to win in Nov. Those Southern Baptists and Evangelicals would NEVER vote for a Mormon. If you really want McCain in the White House than you better hope for someone else.
jj | 12:26 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
WELL ANY PERSON WITH A BRAIN THAT FUNCTIONS WOULD KNOW THAT BARNIE FRANK SHOULD JUST GO BACK ON VACATION. FOR THE IDIOT THAT SAID ROMNEY IS GOING LEFT FOR THIS AND CAME TO THE RIGHT FOR THE PRIMARY HE IS FULL OF IT. IF ROMNEY WOULD HAVE TRULY COME TO THE RIGHT HE WOULD HAVE WON. SAYING ANYTHING TO GET ELECTED. THATS JUST POLITICS ISNT IT. LOOK AT BOTH CANDIDATES RIGHT NOW.
bize1 | 12:27 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Not that I'm such a Mitt fan, but if Barney Frank is used as a reason not to vote for him, then I'm for Mitt. Maybe Frank could find support in San Fran but let him venture out of his protected zone and he will find he has zero support and no one wants to hear from this man.
john4truth | 12:27 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Romney has made many mistakes but whether you are a Republican or Democrat this infighting over who McCain picks only helps Obama. A vice president has no affect on anything. If you bad mouth any running mate McCain choses you are helping Obama. Obaman has never done anything good in his life, his says it is OK to refuse medical treatment to a living baby on a botched abortion and let the baby die. If you do things that help him be our president you must share this guilt. If a mother lets her newborn baby die in any other situation she is charged with murder. If a doctor watches a newborn living aborted baby die it is legal and Obama strongly supports that. Look in the mirror and accept the blame for what you do. John
BellaIrish | 12:28 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Why is Romney relevant? He is just an ex-candidate. The mainstream media has made very clear in its treatment of John Edwards that ex-candidates, possible VPs or Attorney Generals, etc., are not worthy of coverage. Move on folks, it's not like he has a love child.
Free Enterprise | 12:28 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
The Communist-Democrats are at it again.
SRenwick | 12:32 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
I would have expected nothing less from Democrats. They have a do nothing Congress and Pelosi don't get me started on her and he spinless decisions. So rave on you Dems, just remember your terms are coming up for re-election and look long and hard to the future of your political careers.
Joe - MI | 12:30 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
..."the Democratic National Committee launched a full-scale attack on him Thursday.

It introduced a Web site section to knock him and sponsored a nationwide conference call for REPORTERS TO LISTEN..."

The master spoke & you (deseret news) barked. Well done, lap dog.

Enough said...point, set, match.
John Adams | 12:30 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
From the Constitution of these United States of America: Article VI, which states that "no religious Test shall ever be required as Qualification"

So stop pretending there is. We are all being Unamerican and Anticonstitution by continuing to harp on a candidates religion or lack thereof.

It is a private matter for ALL individuals, and not up for public discussion. Get it? Probably not!
RoBo | 12:32 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
hmm wrote: "The left's attack on Romney is only an indication of his potential strength. I think they've been smoking too much of a certain herb."

All of em except for Barney. He's been smoking,well...FRANKS!
Willie | 12:32 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
I am happy to see the DNC attacking Gov Romney, proving once again why they have always been afraid of him. The MSM played up the fact he was a Mormon, along with Gov Huckabee. When it comes to flip flopping, I would suggest that the DNC look at their own Candidate, Sen Obama. Never has a Candidate like Sen Obama had to throw more folks under the bus, change almost on a daily basis, what he believes. Gov Romney is just what the GOP Ticket needs to take Colo, Mich an Nv. However, Sen McCain will not pick him.

The Dems would be celebrating Romney if he had operated a gay escort service from his residence, like Barney Frank. The Dems would be celebrating Romney if he'd been responsible for the death of a young female staffer on Cape Cod...or, if he'd received fellatio in his office...or, if he'd been the Exalted Cyclops of the KKK...or, if he'd been involved in a high-priced prostitution ring. I guess being a respectable family man, faithful spouse, and successful businessman & politician won't earn him any points with sleazy mouthpieces for the Democrats.
