I'm disappointed in this. Honestly, can't they think of better things
to be doing with their time than knock a possibly-but-probably-not VP candidate?
With all the talk McCain is doing against Obama...and the fact that the Dems
still need to campaign for a win in November. I'm completely bewildered as
to why the Dems really bothered. If any Dem leaders are reading: Keep your eye

Romney uses the church to get votes?
Like him or not, the man is a brilliant businessman... Even he can do the math and see that a million or two LDS church votes aren't nearly enough.
Plus it's the electoral college that actually elects the president.

I am ashamed by the unprofessional journalism that is allowed to enter to this
newspaper. Yes, it is a right-winged newspaper, but this sounds more like
commentary by political pundits than actual journalism. I guess it is what
Deseret News or the journalist itself feels that is necessary to sell papers.

Sounds to me like he's leaving that open to other prohpets like Isaiah, Samuel, Joseph Smith etc etc.
Not sure what you're so upset about. Is he apostate for not using that moment as a missionary moment to give witness of Joseph Smith? Just because he doesn't share his personal testimony with some liberal reporter (who asks that type of question anyway?) trying to cast Mitt as someone at the loony bin doesn't mean Mitt doesn't believe it happened. Aren't we taught to not cast our pearls to the swine?

The DNC is doing a typical trash the guy who will do the most damage to their
guys chances. Having Barney Frank as a point man on this is a laugher. Frank
has become a career politician who has done little to in Washington. This is
why most people hate politics because the ones who are screaming the loudest are

This story is completely biased. The website gives the negatives on 8 potential
GOP VP candidates but the Deseret News and SL Trib both only focus on the
website's treatment of Romney, thereby implying that the rest of the world
is taking him seriously. It isn't. He is considered a flip-flopping ball
of fluff in 49 states and only considered an asset to the GOP ticket in the one
state his co-religionists live in. Go look up the site and see for yourselves.
And it isn't necessarily anti-Mormon bias that he has such a low
rating---do you know where he stands on ANYTHING? If you do, you should tell
him, because he doesn't have any idea.

I guess that the Democrats are so desperate that they have to go after the #2
choice, or prospect. The Republicans don't need to do that, they only have
to think about Obama and what a disaster he would be. Obama was able to
organize his community, Romney was able to organize an Olympics that was in

I have mixed feelings about Mitt running as VP, when I TOTALLY wish we had him
running for PRES. and I feel bad to think of his light being kept under a bushel
by McCain, though when I think of "Obama" being pres. I shudder in
fear for our country!!!
I think Mitt has the experience,integrity and foresight along with the wisdom and get it done attitude to save our nation, while also helping the whole world. I HOPE and PRAY that if he is willing to sacrifice himself to try to save our economy etc, that McCain , the voters and the politicians will let him do the work that needs to be done and not be against him because of his religion or their prejudice. He came to BETTER stands when he got better insight on abortion and tried to get gays to be content with legal unions instead of corrupting marriage, but is evil ever willing to be satisfied?
May God bless us all to see the truth among the lies and distortions, and do the best we can in our own circles of influence. GO MITT!!

see that every line of comment in the Des News always degenerates into a fight
over the Church, and someone's interpretation of it.
For those of us members living outside Utah, this is getting embarassing. Please, people, try to stay focussed on something other than bashing the Church, other members, or non-members. How about actually discussing an issue on its merits for once?
What we need is a None of the Above option on the ballot. Should that one win, the parties would be required to give us better candidates until there was actually someone worth voting for. There's a campaign I'd be willing to back 100%.

I have never understood a religion that encourages its members to be prejudice.
Why is it o.k. for so-called "Christians" to refuse to vote for Romney
just because he's a Mormon (follower of Christ)? If they were smart,
they'd turn off their blinders and realize that there is more in common
there than they're willing to admit. I can't believe the hipocrisy in
our society, a world consumed with fighting prejudice, except if they're a
Mormon. Who gave the Evangelicals such a pull in the Republican party anyway?
This just boggles my mind. I've lived in the Bible belt and the Midwest
and found that it would do them some good to consider why their pastors fight so

In this case, Romney largely deserves the critcism he's getting. For the record, he's a pathological flip-flopper who seems to lack some core political convictions, and his record in his home state was less than impressive. Sounds like Obama, come to think of it.

Mitt fell victim to the Radical Christian Right, if the Christian Right ever took real power I am not sure how long we Mormons would survive.
It was not Jews or Muslims that were burning down homestead in Missouri, Ohio or Illinois. Sadly so called Christian feel they can force their beliefs on others, and as history has taught us they quickly draw the sword when met with resistance.
In our lovely Deseret we call ourselves Republicans but the Party uses us for our block of votes. The GOP just can not fathom the thought of a MORMON President!
Mitt fell victim to the Radical Christian Right, if the Christian Right ever took real power I am not sure how long we Mormons would survive.
It was not Jews or Muslims that were burning down homestead in Missouri, Ohio or Illinois. Sadly so called Christian feel they can force their beliefs on others, and as history has taught us they quickly draw the sword when met with resistance.
In our lovely Deseret we call ourselves Republicans but the Party uses us for our block of votes. The GOP just can not fathom the thought of a MORMON President!

Perhaps they need to get Jason Chaffetz's democrat competition to speak
against Mitt Romney.
This is the 1st time I think I have read a democrat say he has the same politics as Jesus. Would Jesus vote for the democrats. perhaps he is just trying to sell his new book.

Romney did not say God has not spoken to man. He said he does not know that God
has spoken WITH a man, in other words a conversation. The only record of him
even speaking is at Jesus' baptism and the first vision. But in neither
case did he converse with a man. Nice attemp at confusion. Brigham Young said
a whole bunch of things you can take out of context. Why don't you try
some of his quotes next time.

Mitt Romney is a good man, but Utah GOP voters act like he is the savior. He
could support abortion and they would vote blindly for him because he is LDS and
Republican, and because he is rich.
