Is this a blog for those | 10:03 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
that are bitter at the loss of Republicans (both religious and not) and of the losses coming up?
Hope it makes you feel better.

Why anyone would listen to Barney Frank. Isn't this the guy who had a prostitution business in his home? I don't know whats in the water in Massachussetts.
Farny Brank | 10:05 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Ooooh, when I see Mitt I see such a viril man. But he is too old for me and he turned me down. Darn him I will help my socialist buddies make him look bad.

CougarKeith, that's funny because the GOP is the new Fascist party for the 2000's. Wake up america, the neo-cons are the real enemy.
David | 10:13 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
If Democrats weren't afraid Romney could help McCain win the election, they would be sitting back doing nothing. Huckabee followers might as well create another party. There isn't a politician around who is more ethical and more qualified to bring stability to the nation than Romney. The Democrats can bash him all they want. It doesn't change the fact that Romney is the best choice for Vice President.
Mike from MA | 10:15 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Mitt is the most intellegent man in the race, and has a proven track record of fixing broken things. The Olympics and did a fair amount of good in MA while being blasted by the MA politicians and the Globe at every turn. Mitt also has the experience and connections to help the econommy. I urge McCain to pick Romney, and let him lose on the B. Hussien Obama campaign.
jon | 10:18 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Oh, the Communists, I mean Democrats, are attacking Romney. He must be a bit of alright, then.

Obama is just a wanker; a former drug dealer, crack smokong,anti-white POS.

If you vote for the swine Obama, you are f*cking the country. Don't think so? Just look at any African country. Blacks are the biggest racists in the world,
yeti mawl | 10:19 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Just wasted my time reading this. I admire more a man who sometimes on the right side of an issue more than one who always on the wrong.

What are the Dems afraid of if he take their stance half of the time? I would think they would embrace him. This reveals more about their bigotry than him as a politician.
Henry | 10:29 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Romney is the man for the job. Experienced, successful proven track record, excellent job references and well educated.
Boyd | 10:36 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
It will never matter to LDS people if Mitt Romney has lied a little. "Lying for the Lord" is acceptable in the LDS Church. You can lie a little and take advantage a little, and nobody will worry about it because as long as you are LDS and are trying to give the LDS Church and the LDS people some sort of advantage, you are a good person. That is part of the "unwritten order" of the LDS Church!
Tito Francona | 10:40 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
It's truly amazing that anyone with a hint of journalistic integrity would take an individual with the likes of Barney Frank seriously.
Anonymous | 10:42 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Frank, Walsh and Holland are genuine losers and always have been. I cannot imagine an ethical Mitt Romney ever having had anything to do with Barney in Massachusettes or anywhere.

It is obvious that he is still smarting over Mitt's olympic successes which also says something for his hidden dislike for our youth.
Flip Flop | 10:46 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
needs to be taken out of the campaign vocabulary. It's being used without facts as a lazy way of calling a competitor names. Franks himself could be accused of a flip-flopper, McCain too. Any of the Dems too. It's a useless catch-all phrase being used by too many people who are unable or unwilling to get to know their facts.
Rondooo | 10:50 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
When people Attack, it is usually to keep people's eyes off the target. That's the time you should look around and try to see what others down want you to see.

Go Mitt....
Paul | 11:01 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Holy Crap! How many modern politians can you name that haven't changed a position in the name of political expediency.
Marlene after dark | 11:06 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Mitt Romney is the only viable candidate fit to run this country and if McCain doesn't select him as VP, I will sit this one out. Of course the dems are going to attack him; they know once he and McCain are elected, Romney will be the next president and they will be out of office for 12 more years. Watch the dirty politics they start playing......and the Republicans better hit back and hit back hard. They certainly have enough amunition. Romney is a decent and honorable man..something unfamiliar in the circle of democrats. They are running scared..and that is a good thing.
Rita | 11:10 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
If McCain has the good sense to pick Romney as his VP, it will be what makes me hold my nose and pick McCain for our President! I am an evangelical, who all along have been for Mitt Romney.I think, neither Guiliai nor Fred Thompson had any intention of actually being President, they simply were in the contest to siphon off votes away from Romney so McCain their good buddy might have a chance to win the nomination. As for Huckabee, out there trying to once again smear Romney by saying if he is the choice the Christian right will not vote for McCain, how stupid, that is, I wonder why no one ever mentions the total of, I believe, 8 ethic charges were bought against Huckabee while he was Govenor of AR?Nope, I say if McCain Picks Romney for his VP he might just have a chance to win! We are so needy for someone who truly understands the ecomony and can turn ours around.
Anonymous | 11:12 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Glad to see the Dems are still above using the politics of personal destruction, or the politics of cynacism, or whatever they are calling it this time around.

What a bunch of freaking hypocrits.

Dazed and Confused | 11:15 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Am I missing something here? While Democrats may be saying the words, this whole thing was scripted by the Republicans who attacked Romney during the primaries. The McCain and Huckabee attack dogs crafted this whole critique. And you thought Democrats were divisive!
Mike Moony | 11:17 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
ROMNEY SHOULD BE AT THE TOP OF THE TICKET. HE'S THE BEST I'VE EVER SEEN.
Donald Duck | 11:33 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Elections have meaning and consequences. Sometimes a little, sometimes monumental. If the majority of the electorate allows Barry O., Queen Bee Pelosi and Pinky Reid and their band of merry libs to take control of this country, we may never recover. Now is the time for conservatives to unite and get after the libs. Their socialist message must be debated and shown to be just that, socialism/communism.
If they do take control, GOD HELP ALL OF US!!
Joy | 11:37 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Why on earth do you print such garbage on your web site????? Why does everyone have to throw garbage to try and win an election. Look for the good in people and then print that.

A: EXPERIENCE

Q: How do you spell Obama/?????
A: hahahahahahahaha
Bulldog | 11:50 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Mitt Romney would be a great choice for McCain. He has a proven track record of managing budgets. He turned Massachusetts around as Governor and saved the 2002 Olympics budget after scandals left it with a massive deficit and once he became CEO he turned it around clearing 100 million profit. He was also a successful businessman. Mitt will keep McCain straight on fiscal matters while McCain focuses on national security and energy independence.

I want proven experience to deal with the economy and budget deficit, energy independence, illegal immigration, and defeating the Islamic terrorists. I do not have any concerns that Mitt is a Mormon and actually respect his commitment to his faith. He is an honorable person and has been vetted so there are no unexpected revelations.

McCain/Romney ticket is a ticket I would vote for.
Mitt fan from McLean Virginia | 11:51 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
I will vote Republican whoever McCain chooses, but I must admit I respect Gov. Romney more than any of the rest. He has the business savvy to lead our country in case McCain passes away. By the way, nothing the Democrats say is worth a grain of salt! These people are inveterate liars! When they talk about flip-flopping, I just laugh.

Another thing to consider, who do you want to be in charge if the phone rings at 3 in the morning? I would not want an inexperienced greenhorn like Obama in charge. Hillary was more pragmatic and stronger than Obama. He strikes me as very effete and indecisive in matters of national security. Also, Obama fans better ask themselves where all the money for his projects are going to come from?

GO COUGARS!

GO MITT!
Sheila | 11:53 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
What differnce does it make if a Democrat criticizes a Republican? None.
Ed Burgoyne | 11:58 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
It is sad the Democrats don't have any person running for office that has as few bad comments about their candidates as Romney does.
win martin | 12:05 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
I take it from Barney Franks comments about Mitt being the most incosistent politician who will say anything to win an election that Barney has never met Barack Obama
DC | 12:09 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Sooo, the Democrats are scared to death of a Romney veep spot. Interesting.
Barney hasn't listened | 12:20 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Barney needs to stick with his gay pimping operations and stay silent on politics.

By calling Romney the most intellectually inconsistent candidate in political history, he admits that he has not been listening to the words of his own party's nominee, Barack Hussein Obama.
Verdict | 12:20 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
"About Romney, Woodward said, "We need to actually make sure we're informing the public. Look at this guy's track record. Look what he's actually done, not what he says, because he clearly can't maintain the position for more than a couple sound bites."

Sounds like he's talking about Obama!
American in MA | 12:22 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
As a resident of Mass I have to laugh at Barney Frank, saying Romney was to the left of Kennedy on certain issues while Governor of the state. That's politics. With such a large liberal poplulation in MA, being Governor was a huge test of Romney's flexibility. He wasn't ever to the left of Kennedy. But to accomplish anything and retain state spending against a bedrock of Democrats in the Legislature, Romney certainly gave a MASS resident comfort there was a balance of power in the state. With Romney gone and the state now at the disposalof liberal Patrick, might as well ship us off to Cuba or Haiti.
Rick | 12:22 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Romney's main critic is Barney Frank? The guy who's boyfriend ran a gay brothel in their apartment? The Democrats can't do any better than that?

Romney's record as governor was fantastic. He alone among the fifty states created a health care program and had to do it with a Democrat majority in both houses.

I think they're scared, I'm from Michigan and I can guarantee you that Romney can deliver this state if he's on the ticket. Polling indicates that he can help McCain in Colorado and New Hampshire as well. If McCain wins Ohio along with those other states it's pretty hard for Obama to come up with an electoral map where he would win.
J.H. | 12:25 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
It would be interesting to read these folks minds that have all these negative comments and see if they really believe in what they say or if they are just politically doing their job to use political preemptive attacks before any of these possible candidates are chosen. It's not hard to have negative comments and slants on anyone. But I suppose the Republicans will be hitting hard on Obama and whoever he chooses with their own views of things.
reaganw | 12:31 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Who McCain picks for VP is his choice. I want the pick to be Huckabee. If it is Romney it is Romney. I will respect McCain's choice. Most other Americans will too when they look at the voting options Nov 4th.
Hate? Why do LDS people keep bringing up that word? Get over it. Your past is your past. Look to the future. I will not hate VP Romney nor will most of the rest of America. We will still wonder at his and the LDS world's cultural ethnocentrisim, but are willing to overlook all that as he helps lead the US. Romney as VP or President still doesn't validate the LDS experience as right about anything except to the LDS people who are looking for some earthly validation. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the light. No man cometh to the Father except by me." Jesus will be there when all of us leave this earth and go to the Judgement. Will he say "Well done my good and faithful servant." Or will he say "I never knew you. Depart from me."

Obviously they had to find something 'clean and wholesome' to attack to counter the 'dirt on Edwards' and every other dirt laden demo president since Roosevelt, (with the exception of Truman).
Anonymous | 12:44 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Barney Frank , who dances with his boyfriend at DC events, is in no postion to critisize MR.
Save your big mouth for your boyfriend, Barney.

Mitt Romney RULES! Right on DUDE! The Democrats must be afraid since they are attacking you!

"Judy | 11:59 p.m. Aug. 14, 2008
This story is completely biased. The website gives the negatives on 8 potential GOP VP candidates but the Deseret News and SL Trib both only focus on the website's treatment of Romney, thereby implying that the rest of the world is taking him seriously. It isn't. He is considered a flip-flopping ball of fluff in 49 states and only considered an asset to the GOP ticket in the one state his co-religionists live in. Go look up the site and see for yourselves."

Uh, so why is he on a very short GOP list of potential Veeps?

Your claim that no one outside Utah cares about Romney is laughable.
Roger B. Protection | 1:25 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
As a political leader Mr. Romney has all the substance of a generic white male clip-art illustration.
Annie | 1:26 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Despite all of the comments- - GO MCCain GO for Mitt. Thank you.
ron lewis | 1:28 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
What a crude hatchet job. Where do they get off dragging Larry Craig into this article? Barney Frank inserted himself in the issue by popping off, so he deserves to have his pimping scandal resurrected.

I hate propagandists.

Dave | 1:32 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
An awful lot of people, including myself, with nothing better to do than blow a lot of hot air on something that makes no difference. The Democrats will say what ever they want to say, as will the Republicans. It is getting so we don't vote for a candidate as much as we vote against a candidate. I just can't decide which one I like less. Where is Snoopy when you really need him.
Miguel | 1:59 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Barney Frank says, "I have never seen anyone ... so willing to say anything that will help him to win the next election" as Romney. Hmmm. Someone should introduce Barney to Senator Obama.
Matt | 2:04 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Ahhhhhhhhh.. liberal left wing democrats don't have anything positive to say about a conservative republican. surprise !!
Carolyn | 2:07 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
McCain would do well to add Governor Palin as VP. I love Romney but the dems would demonize him. I would like to think what they would do against Palin. They have NOTHING. And the fact that she is a woman. If McCain chooses Huckabee, it will be even harder for me to vote for him. But, I am not really voting for McCain. I am voting against Obama!!
David | 2:18 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
You can always tell when you've struck a nerve with dems(like comparing obomba to paris or britney) lol. Obviously dems fear Romney! Or they would not squawk so loud. Can't you dems do any better than a white hating/America hating socialist activist(senator with 143 days experience). I know you can nominate the inventor of the internet or maybe some war hero that remembers Nixon sending him to cambodia Christmas of '68. TRUTH(aka the internet) is a bad thing for dems and their socialist buds.
Christian Mormon | 2:20 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Funny how none of you anti-Republican, anti-american, anti-Mormon people have no life and spout lies and hate. Your egos are so big you actually beleive people take you seriously. You hate Repulicans because your mommy gave you everything, and when you didn't get what you want you through fit. Your hate America because you have never stood up for something right, other than yourself. You hate Mormons because they represent the the very best in all of us, and stand firm, no matter what dissagreements you have with their beliefs.

A normal person changes their opinion or stance when the facts change. I support Mitt even more because he ran for Commander in Chief, not Pastor in Chief. You all need to get over yourselves. Romeny will make a wonderful VP and President.
